Jeff Lee is absolutely right, that is the fundamental cause of the problem however, having big shoulders with 100 kilos to support them helps.
In the case of the Palace walk the best solutions is to kick the joggers out to a sports club with a running track and kick the cyclists back onto the road where they belong and leave the Palace walk to the walkers to bump into each other.
Try Komazawa Koen; plenty of space with dedicated tracks / lanes for walkers, cyclists and joggers.

Good to read a light-hearted story here for a change. I grew up on rabbit stew and rabbit pie and I own two flat caps!

Why? If the US had known then the information would have been leaked within hours and shown on CNN.

Doesn't matter that it is a nautical term, half-staff is used in the US and maybe elsewhere but half-mast is used in UK and the Commonwealth.

Tragic indeed. I hope that people wait for ALL the facts before apportioning blame.

Thanks presto345: dress tastes differ eh? You can say that again. Great selection of tights/stockings here, not sure what point JG is trying to make. From where she is in Shinjuku she doesn't have to go far to select from a huge choice.

cleo: Thank you. I have neither the time or the patience to express that which you did so well, thanks again. My Shiba mix is a "rescue dog' from Aomori-ken, we think she is about 7 years old, at this rate she will outlive me !

telecasterplayer: nothing to do with my "world view", just telling you what happened, many years before this subject started to be discussed regularly.
There doesn't seem to be any real definitive evidence one way or the other but Wikipedia (Pearl Harbor advance-knowledge conspiracy theory) is interesting.

My late father was a military man and had a close friend in Army Intelligence during and after WW2. I can remember, back in the 1950s, him telling me that British spies in Tokyo uncovered the plan to attack Pearl Harbour and relayed the information to the US side 6 days before the attack. My memory is perfectly clear on this but of course, verification is not possible.

Ossan: a fairly predictable dig at the Japanese. Buy, steal or borrow a suitable radio and listen to Japanese ATC, nothing wrong with their English. If there was then 'planes would be falling out the sky everywhere.

Regardless of where it all came from, in common usage today, Soju is Korean and Shochu is Japanese. Yes they are similar but in my considerable experience of both, Soju is more deadly, or maybe it's the Korean style of drinking the stuff. Most arak type drinks are found around the Eastern Mediterranean, Turkey and Greece particularly. The Muslim world in general does not brew its own liquor for obvious reasons.
