"Hmm, the problem isn't about saving electricity. It's about reducing peak demand. So saving electricity from noon to 3:00pm seems a little pointless, since the peak occurs around 6:00pm."
Not according to Tepco (and they should know) the peak is just after lunch. Check it your self and see.

"Not too hard to make them cubic. Called growing them in a wooden box."
No, as the article points out, they grow them in translucent plastic cubes; they have been doing this for years and this is reported on every year ad nauseum.

Some real facts:-
The Mori-owned complex uses ¥10 billion-worth (US$125 million) of gas turbines, generators and kerosene to meet the needs of its 20,000 workers and 2,000 residents.
And then some.
The system allows Roppongi Hills to create an electricity excess sufficient to power well more than 1,000 homes daily, which is shunted off to TEPCO as it struggles with the Fukushima cleanup operation.

Really? Mori said this yesterday? I doubt it, I wonder why they didn't say that they have actually been doing this for the last 3 months and mentioning the fact on the monitor screens around the building!

Forgive my cynicism but many news photographers / cameramen do carry their own teddy bear with them to create such shots.

I wonder how many owners of unregistered bicycles have been booked?
No, seriously, this is good and better late than never.

Seems my question has been answered:-
According to the BBC "The US official said that intelligence had been tracking a "trusted courier" of Bin Laden for many years. The courier's identity was discovered four years ago, his area of operation two years ago and then, last August, his residence in Abbottabad was found, triggering the start of the mission.
Another senior US official said that no intelligence had been shared with any country, including Pakistan, ahead of the raid."
lostrune2: A sea burial? Really? Where did you get that little gem from?

Good news. I wonder if the $25m reward was the key or just pure intelligence work?

They can use it right next to the poster showing a woman carrying a bag in that way and telling not to do that as it causes inconvenience to other passengers.

Agree with the sentiments above but, if they are issuing water to everyone what happens when they need to pee? Do they lose their place or refill the bottle?

Sick, very sick. Alf Garnett once suggested a solution to the "Irish problem": send the navy in and sink it.

I wonder what the boat weighs? One big crane or two smaller ones could lift it onto a trailer. However, there may not be sufficient access or sufficiently stable ground there or perhaps they would have done that already.
