Nobody failed to recognise the reason for the story; it goes without saying. Don't tell me that I can't voice my opinions here, this is a forum, that is what it is for. :-)

She is, or perhaps was, very famous in her day. I guess that you are too young to remember the fuss over her very sexy song, Je t'aime......... I remember it very well and it is now firmly stuck in my head and won't go away!

So many of us living in Ota-ku! Good advice, mostly common sense and I would also add: make sure cabinet and cupboard doors have positive catches/locks rather than just spring or magnetic catches. Be careful when opening a cabinet door after a shake because there could be things resting on the door which will fall out when you open it.

Organisations such as ARK and JEARS are doing what they can for the abandoned animals in the area, please support them if you can.

Those guys are doing a great job and, as well as being glad to help out, are probably enjoying the break from the usual peacetime drudge.

I am still astounded at the sheer destruction caused by the tsunami compared to the earthquake. I am pushing 60 backwards and have been around a bit but have never seen anything like that outside of wartime film footage.

Makes you wonder just how many more secret gardens are just under our noses. Can't believe that these are the only ones.

Where there is a will there is a way! Probably very little water got into the tanks as the vents are normally a few metres up off the ground and the water would sink to the bottom anyway so, as long as the intake pipe is not too low they will be OK.

Are SAS flying into Tokyo now? Or are they doing what BA is doing on its Tokyo London flights; stopping in Seoul to change crew as the BA crew will not fly into Japan, Japanese crew only between Tokyo and Seoul.

Clever "pray" on words too, hope it wasn't accidental.

smithinjapan: quite so. Personally I think that they have little choice other than to dump this water in the Pacific a couple of hundred miles offshore and let it be diluted.

wanderlust: sensible post, thanks for injecting a dose of reality for the benefit of those who think that restoring power to these plants is a bit like using an extension cable to power your lawnmower.

Sensible in a high-level, general sort of way. Companies differ in size and shape and there will always be exceptions, special cases to be dealt with so keeping a level head and an open mind but with your BS sensor switched on is a must.

With the the caption to this photo, this site is no better than the rest of the sensation-seeking panic-mongering media. As has been pointed out here twice, these are standard head protection.

Take your kanji argument somewhere else, it's not relevant here.
