I agree with Squidbert and cracaphat, well and truly overhyped. However there must have been a lot of people who swallowed the hype and thought they would make a quick killing.

I am glad they will wear this "functionable" rainwear on their outdoor shoots. They deserve the best. Hope they are not "Dry clean only" Have these coats been described as "functionable" because they are not functional ?

What has this got to do with the London Olympics? Absolutely nothing.

Spain has been moaning about Gibraltar since 1713. Nothing new.

@Zichi I got a blue coronation mug and a "Fry`s Five Boy " chocolate bar. I hope the Japanese Royal couple enjoy their trip, I am sure they will be made very welcome.

@sunhawk Of course beer should have a head, but not excessive, I think that is the point in question. I cannot imagine I would survive long if I drew a "Pint of Guinness" with a 3 inch head for Paddy and his pals. Yes I know Guinness is a stout but you get my point :)

Perhaps its the desire to get what you paid for. If I order a pint of beer I expect to get a pint, not half beer and half froth. In the UK there is a white line on the side of the glass that denotes the level liquid beer must reach to make a pint. Between that line and the rim is the "froth zone"

She lied about what actually happened then played the "I was drunk" card. Sentence should be doubled on appeal methinks.

@nec123a Japan and the UK are democracies with a system of government based on a constitutional monarchy. The Japanese Royal Family are going to the UK to represent Japan at the celebration of the Queen`s Diamond Jubilee. You are entitled to your views about Republicanism, but it has no bearing whatsoever on this subject. The cost would still be the same if a future President Ozawa was visiting President Cameron. I know what I would prefer. Long may the present Emporer and the Queen reign. They are very welcome in UK.

@Oz Monster Thank you for your post, it was very informative. I stand corrected.

Of course 80% of children on the waiting list are aged 0-2. Because there is a waiting list parents put their children down for a place at the earliest opportunity so when they are old enough they get a place. A bit like people putting their underage children on a waiting list for Eton.

That is a good idea, it will allow people to return to work knowing their children are in a safe environment. Some progress on the welfare front. I applaud the idea.

@Gogogo I think his grade has something to do with it There is immunity, but not when you’re doing things in your purely private life, for somebody at his level,” said Wagstaffe. **Somebody at his level **seem to be the important words here. Maybe he was an embassy gopher.

http://www.japantimes.co.jp/text/nn20120508f2.html The lack of meaningful forensic autopsy procedures in Japan probably means that murders go undetected. I am not trying to be alarmist but I do think that this type of crime is more prevalent than it would appear. If the murder had been commited with charcoal briquettes as in the "black widow" case and not with a knife slash to the throat, and the son had not phoned the Police to confess , would we be reading about this murder or another tragic accident? The link at the top of my post is to an article in Japan Times about the lack of postmortem examinations in Japan.

Doesnt seem that the police were very proactive in this case. Surely the victim was concerned enough about his safety that he went to the Police. Didnt this ring any alarms in the heads of the occupants of the Koban? Apart from making a phonecall that went unanswered it seems they did nothing. Police are responsible for crime prevention not just the investigation in the aftermath of a crime. Yasuhiro Wada deserved their protection despite him being involved in a seedy business. He didn`t get it.

Well done this plucky lady. The police probably didnt comment because they hadn`t considered taking prints from the digit until the reporter asked the question. However I do note a discrepancy in the reporting:"** one finger missing—after ****the intended victim chomped off his pinkie"** and further on in the report " suspect had one of his fingers partially bitten off"

Is there anything the Chinese wont eat to improve their"Health". Their insatiable appetite for obscure health giving body parts has led to the decimation of the Rhino and Tiger populations of the world, now this. Medieval medical practices like this will lead to foetus farming by the sort of people who think it is OK to add melamine to milk to make a profit.
