I am more aware of what is happening around me because I seem to be surrounded by people totally oblivious to their surroundings because they have their eyes glued to their Iphone. I travel everywhere on foot and by train, and on numerous occasions my heart has leapt into my mouth as I see young children running along the edge of the platform trailing their "guardian" who has his or her eyes transfixed by the object in their hands. I also dont sleep on trains and in coffee shops, I like to see what is happening around me for my own entertainment. If I had been sleeping or surfing the net on my Iphone I would have missed the two old ladies who came into the coffee shop each wheeling a trolly from the supermarket opposite. They managed to over turn a table full of cups whilst manoeuvring, and having caused mayhem sat down , had a smoke, then got up and trundled out. On the way out they upset the table again and crushed a waitress into a doorway. Absolute classic entertainment missed by those snoring at the next table.

@ globalwatcher This was Woodford v Olympus, his settlement at the Employment Tribunal was for a breach of UK employment laws. Awards at an ET are unlimited, hence Olympus wanting to settle out of court. That case is over and his settlement is his to keep. Any future case brought by the SFO will be a criminal case regarding the original falsification of accounts and payments to "advisors" connected with the purchase of UK - based company Gyrus in 2008.Thes payments apparently passed through Olympus UK.

This is not the end of the saga. Woodford took this case to an Employment Tribunal where the burden of proof is Civil Law ( balance of probabilities) to gain some redress from Olympus. The SFO and FBI are still investigating the original case regarding payments to "advisors" with regard to a breach of UK or US criminal law.

I agree with Squidbert and cracaphat, well and truly overhyped. However there must have been a lot of people who swallowed the hype and thought they would make a quick killing.

I am glad they will wear this "functionable" rainwear on their outdoor shoots. They deserve the best. Hope they are not "Dry clean only" Have these coats been described as "functionable" because they are not functional ?

@sunhawk Of course beer should have a head, but not excessive, I think that is the point in question. I cannot imagine I would survive long if I drew a "Pint of Guinness" with a 3 inch head for Paddy and his pals. Yes I know Guinness is a stout but you get my point :)

Perhaps its the desire to get what you paid for. If I order a pint of beer I expect to get a pint, not half beer and half froth. In the UK there is a white line on the side of the glass that denotes the level liquid beer must reach to make a pint. Between that line and the rim is the "froth zone"

She lied about what actually happened then played the "I was drunk" card. Sentence should be doubled on appeal methinks.

@nec123a Japan and the UK are democracies with a system of government based on a constitutional monarchy. The Japanese Royal Family are going to the UK to represent Japan at the celebration of the Queen`s Diamond Jubilee. You are entitled to your views about Republicanism, but it has no bearing whatsoever on this subject. The cost would still be the same if a future President Ozawa was visiting President Cameron. I know what I would prefer. Long may the present Emporer and the Queen reign. They are very welcome in UK.
