Tuxworth and his colleagues Glen Pendlebury and Simon Peterffy illegally boarded the foreign vessel and broke a number of Australian and international laws
There are a number of other articles which also suggest that the media have claimed that they have broken the law. A lot of commentaries from anti-whalers who have condemned the action of these three. Some call them pirates. Some called for them to be sent to Japan to face chargers. Lots of I'm anti-whaling but what these three did was... etc.
It seems that the SS decide to post on here because they've lost the battle in Australia.

According to the Australian Prime Minister, the Attorney General and the Australian media they commited a crime in International waters and are therefore subject to Japanese laws.
According to Cleo they were in Australian waters.

He sailed closer to shore so that the head waiter was able to wave to his family had he stayed on the regular course this tragedy would never have happened.
If you are responsible for all of those on your ship, then you are responsible for all of them until they have left your ship. He could not ensure a safe evacuation if he wasn't there. There were some members of staff who have come out of this with a lot of credit for the way in which they helped the passengers.

Sad. Not that they're getting divorced, I have no opinion on that. However it's pretty sad that on the 17th anniversary of the Hanshin Earthquake, JT chooses to lead with this.

What a surprise that the SS supporters come on here to bleat away at the Japanese... Of course what Japan could have done to save the Australian tax payer was refuse to return them (as was their legal right) and when they returned to Japan they could have prosecuted them for trespass etc. Instead they chose to returnt hem to the Australians at convenient time.
The SS have lost the PR battle on this one.

TokyoKawasaki, well done on all your work - hope the t-shirts can raise a lot of money and help the community to rebuild. It is no longer a disaster area but a recovery one. But the people still need a lot of support.
Well done!

I don't know Jamie but I know a lot of people who do and who have worked with him and his 'It's Not Just Mud' group.
There's a very good interview on the BBC with him as well.
Legend.

The Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Act 1999 prohibits any ship in the Japanese whaling fleet (this includes the SM2) to come into the Australian EEZ. It isn't my interpretation of the law, it IS the law"

The discharge of any oil or oily mixture, bulk chemicals or garbage from a ship is prohibited in Antarctica
What is paint?
*Other waste generated on ships is stored on board until it can be disposed of outside Antarctica. Shredders are used to process glass and small metal waste. *
How do they dispose of glass?

No, I don't think it makes them a terrorist. That part of my post was very tongue in cheek but the fact that it is their intent to throw non biodegradable contents into the ocean makes them non environmental as well. No wonder Greenpeace distances themselves from them.
Yet again I'm surprised at our their supporters will happily turn a blind eye at this. Unless of course when you're walking down your local street you just toss your rubbish wherever is most convenient for you?

Well you can't call someone an environmental group when they will fully and intentionally pollute the area can you?

There's been a discussion recently as to whether the SS are eco terrorists. But I think it's fair to say that a group that goes to the Antarctic ocean with the express purpose of throwing glass bottles, paint and other non bio degradable materials can not be called Eco anything.
Guess that just makes them terrorists then...

No, that's not what I said at all. I said that whatever the Japanese governments stance on their EEZ is irrelevant to your claim that the Japanese ship is in breach of international law. Because it's not. It is in international waters and is therefore entitled to be there. Your government has gone on record to say that they are not welcome. They have also said that they are not in breach of any law and that the three who boarded the ship were subject to international law.
I'm struggling to see how you and the other SS supporters who've joined this site are unable to understand this. I suspect that it's because you all struggle to understand the law.
Secondly I have not posted about other countries entering the EEZ and it's only thanks for the disinformation and personal attacks by DJBooth that you could assume that.

First of all that is absolutely irrelevant to this discussion and anyway I don't need to go to Tokyo but I clearly need to explain it to you. You've constantly claimed that they are in breach of Australina law and they are in Australian waters but they aren't.

The phrase that you're looking for is 'international waters'.
