Then check out the "variety" shows and get even more of an eyeful all this at prime time.

Do you seriously think that compares to 6 years as a teen being surrounded by so dressed JHS and HS girls for 9 hours a day or more??? I still have fond memories of that time in my life and the girls of my memories are not getting any less attractive. And do you think that if the TV instead had nothing but skimply clad old ladies that tastes would change to match? Not a chance! Attraction to teens far predates the TV and the uniform fetish is the result of an association formed in adolescence.

limboinjapan said: The problem is and isn't the uniforms these guys are sick BUT the so-called entertainment industry is partially to blame having sexualized JHS and HS girls uniforms.

If true it must be the smallest part. Its not like anyone was forced to watch girls in uniforms by the entertainment industry. I am sure the fetish comes first, or why would they buy or rent such tapes? I think its pretty obvious the fetish comes from the fact that when their sexual awakening occurred they were surrounded by uniforms. Why high school boy is not dying for a peek? This one never lost the urge and finally got the money to afford the equipment!

If anything is going to severely reduce the incidence of men trying to do this its going to have start in JHS and HS. Not much sense pontificating after that.

Do you really think its the underwear for even most of these guys? I don't think so. I think its whats in the underwear. Obviously you are going to see in the upskirt picture a lot more flesh than what you normally see. Or does a skirt blown up by the wind have no effect on you? Yeah, I know some guys even go so far as to steal underwear, but again the attraction was to what was in them. I am sure that most of these guys would not do this if they were getting the real thing, and THAT is the root of the whole problem.

    HeyLars

A little educational reminder: A plea to enforce existing skirt length rules= preventative tactic.

Saying its all the girl's fault= blaming the victim.

One I did and the other I didn't. Surprised I don't get chastized for suggesting people wear seat belts too!

timorborder said: So what should high-school girls be wearing Lars? Maybe a full-length burkha?

How about skirts of a length that confirm to existing school rules? Ya know, like I suggested in my post?

Changing uniforms, unfortunately, is only part of the solution.

So what do you have in mind for the other part? And keep in mind that whatever you do the guys who get caught does not necessary keep new offenders from coming into being.

Another hard-core criminal busted! Maybe if skirt length were more regulated, high school girls would be targeted less?

Haha, yes you are correct JohnBecker. Doh!

So anyway, I see from others that now Obama is at fault for taking this one step at a time rather than leaping the whole staircase in one go. I guess he was supposed to threaten the Russians with nuclear strikes if they did not get rid of all nukes immediately? Sigh.

Oh dear! The backyard bunker builders are going to have a coniption now that more of their MADD courage is taken away. (MADD courage is similar to liquid courage. However I cannot quite understand how one is more chicken that a conventional war might break out over the potentional that all life on Earth could be obliterated!)

Also, we have an opportunity for Obama haters to scream because his pen hand moved.

If you look, you don't see much criticism do you? Just a couple posters suggested cameras, which STILL require cops to be on the train and further require someone to watch the cameras in real time.

I approve of staking out trains and so do many people it seems. Those cops can do a lot more than just look for one pickpocket. I do not approve of staking out closets though.

Leonardo DiCaprio would be very happy if you don’t read this story.

Well then maybe you should not have written it. No idea what it was about, I stopped reading from there. I don't want to know about his business. Its not mine.

So easy to say! Right now, the most well funded military in the world is, and has been trying to root out HUIT in two countries for 9 and 6 years respectively. Plenty of people in those countries are fighting along side us. Yet they and us combined still have not solved the problem. The fanatics might be crazy, but they are crazy like a fox.

It is more likely you have a short and selective memory. I would like to make a bet with you that, in fact, one or more posters have amptly countered your usual litany. But such a bet would not be allowed. But here is one for you, Muslim scholar condeming terrorism:

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yD76cmBmSKI

His name is Maulana Marghoobur Rahman. Break out a post-it-note, put his name on it and stick it to the corner of screen so you will remember.

WilliB, its interesting the way you listen to extremists intently but ignore what everybody else has to say. Have you ever considered that? Maybe its time to stop listening the extremists WilliB. The sooner you start and see that error, the sooner you can convince others to stop listening to them also.

Sailwind, that is a nice speech. But I am afraid it still fails to overcome the effect of repeating the words "Islamic terrorism" over and over again. Such a term implies that Islam and terrorism are necessarily co-joined. Unfortunately, semantics do weigh heavily on simple minds, even more than pretty speeches, and removing that effect is what this is all about. And I am afraid that, yes indeed, some of our own people have contributed to the perception that we are at war with Islam. Some of those types post here.

Gee sailwind, all I wanted was more accurately descriptive terminology to help out the slow people.

Maybe instead of random accusations you could put forth your own suggestions? Or do you think everyone is sorting the difference between Islamic culture and the Islamic religion just fine on their own? And do you think the word Jihad is fairly defined as blowing up women and children despite the wording predating such actions by over a thousand years?

No, the overwhelming majority of the church was not involved and not even aware of what was happening.

In a sense, I have a lot of kids. I would say I average about 50 a year for all the years I have been here. I cannot say I have heard of any sex abuse anywhere I have taught, but if it did get covered up you are doing a good job explaining why. Rather than blame the people involved you call the whole group a pedo ring without hesitation. I don't think any of my schools earned or deserved such a title and I don't think the church does either. Its not even helpful. I sure hope you don't actually think you are helping any kids that way.

timorborder said: Probably a correct decision, however, doesn't the president actually have more important things to do than juggle semantics? Instead of concentrating on being politically correct (or at least not being politically insensitive), how about tackling some more important issues?

How much time do you think he took for this? Its not about being PC. Its about getting everyone on the same and correct page. People are misinterpreting the words, the very basis of everything that is communicated and thought about the issue of terrorism from the M.E. The president is looking to make sure that foundation of communication is solid. The way I see it, its vital and all encompassing. I would prefer everyone just smartened up and understood the words as they are, but hoping won't help. God knows I have tried to explain too. The president has just set the impetus to make new words, and really, it takes someone that high to do that. But here, I will try my hand at those new terms. How about instead of Islamic terrorism, we now call it Heretical UnIslamic Terrorism (HUIT) (pronounced Who it)? How about instead of Jihad, we call it Heretical UnIslamic Cult Movement (HUICM) (pronounced Who, I see 'um.). Those would nod to those of moderate Islam and keep us focused on the real enemy. But not being president or anywhere near it, I doubt they will stick.

smithinjapan said: I sometimes agree with you, but not here. And you didn't at all answer DentShop's query, you simply misdirected. What sins do the priests have that are greater than child molestation?

Probably what I should have said was that there was no systematic maltreatment of children within the Catholic church as a group, but saying otherwise is worse than any collective catholic guilt on this. It is individual priests who are to blame for either the sex offenses or hiding them. I cannot speak for each individual case, but surely most of them are close to the height of sins of catholic priests in this century and the last half of the last century. But certainly throwing out words like "pedo ring" is complete wrong and unfair and uttered only out of spite, a personal problem.

Sure. Accusing a group of people of the systematic maltreatment of children when they are not, as a group, guilty.

The problems are not so much the words. The problems are the small-minded interpretions of the words by people with small minds.

The word "Islamic" points to a culture rather than simply a religion, and like it or not the terrorist image has acquired a vogue and a mystique in Islamic culture as much as the gangsta has in American black culture. But if you thought all or most blacks were "gangstas" you would be a small-minded fool of the same type who thinks all or most people of Islamic culture are terrorists.

The word "jihad" as many meanings including a personal struggle. But my understanding is that it was terrorist types who started using it to mostly refer to violent struggle including against innocent and defenseless civilians. They perverted the word first. And while I still decry the people who assist in that perversion, I don't know of a substitute word. But if they have one, its a good thing. No one should let terrorists control the debate, and many posters here are letting that happen, especially with these words.

herefornow said: The statement on Good Friday by the Pope's official speaker likening this to anti-sematism is just silly beyond words.

Actually the statement originally came from a jew. The reverend was just repeating what his Jewish friend wrote in a letter. And I agree. I don't like catholic church at all, but this is not reason to be against catholics, their church, the Pope, or the Vatican. As TheQuestion points out, church has a better record than schools or the general population as far as sex and minors are concerned. Hiding the problem priests was a grave mistake, but its the least of their sins.
