"Deep bow, say sorry and everything will be forgotten in a heartbeat."

Of course, this is a moral issue, not legal, that's why he got criticized, not arrested. It's totally legal, but a morally wrong to receive welfare when she got enough money from his son.

So you want people to keep bringing this up for another couple years instead of forgot about it after he apologized ?

you guys don't like typical indecisive Japanese politicains, and when we have finally a decisive leader, and you still don't like him.

Go ahead and keep waiting for a politician that you agree with about everything, I'm sure you will find them soon.

Call him a dictator or whatever you like, but he is the only politician who has any chance of changing Japan

Posted in: Japanese politicians cannot decide on anything. Without an overhaul of the way the nation’s government is structured, Japan will sink within three to five years.

I guess you have never taken statistics classes. If you have, you would know that 2000 is a large enough samples that give you correct data with very little variance.
Have you ever wondered how TV networks can tell who won an election with only 1% confirmed results ?

If you doubt this statstics becuase of the sample size, then there is NO statstics that you can rely on, zero. Do you think there is any legitimate stats that got results from all the population ?

Do you realize that Japanese soccer has improved 10 folds since when Inamoto went to the premier league ?
I'm not sure who Miyuchi is but Miyaichi is only 19yrs old, and he has done very well already considering he was playing against Japanese high school players only a year ago.

If you claim Bundesliga is a third rate division then it's funny how most German national team players play in the bundesliga and they are ranked higher than England, Germany = 2nd, England = 7th.

"Japanese sportsmen are not up to the mental grade, unlike Chinese and Koreans"

Huh ? Do you even know that Japan is ranked higher than both China and Korea in the FIFA ranking ? And no, I don't care about your ranking if you have any.

Penny got most wins in the National league in 2006, if that's nothing, then the major league itself is nothing much. Typical major leaguers, too much pride to have any success

If you don't think/know high valued yen is a problem to companies that sell overseas, then you are completely dillusional.

All the points you listed, how do you know these are problems only to Japanese automakers except Nissan and also American, Korean and European competitors don't have these problems ?

You talk as if you know all these companies inside out although you don't.

@Dog "One should always take a flexible 'wholistic' attitude to approaches and methodologies for the language classroom"

Sounds like a typical conceptual argument that doesn't change anything in reality. You need to get over your Mr. Know it all attitude dude,

As somone who went through typical japanese education system, here are my 2 cents.

    1. Need to start English classes at an early age, like 1st or 2nd grade. And just focus on speaking/pronounciation at elementary school level. We can work on grammar and vocaburary when we are 15, 25 or even later, but it's a lot easier to teach/learn pronounciation at a youner age.

    2. Combined with #1 above, we need native English speakers to lead the class, no as assistants !!! All my Japanese teachers were great "Engrishu" speakers, this needs to end.

    1. American people aren't exactly nice to those with accent, unless you have an european accent, then you are considered cute. Asian accent isn't exactly popular over there. Every other American will say "I don't undersant a word he says".

2 He went there to play professional baseball, not to take some ESL classes.

    1. If you want to criticize his English proficiency, then you should be talking about this in Japanese, otherwise, you are in the same boat.

Let's not listen to the 1% here. Majority of Japanese farmers are old, can't compete against pretty much anyone else unless they are protected by the government.

Somehow Japanese government always trys to protect the weak industries that have very little growth opportunity and make it tougher for others by raising corporate taxes.

Now is a chance to fix it.

And how many "Western" corporations have Japanese CEOs ? Zero ?

Howard Stringer is is a completely different case, as he had 7 years to turn around Sony but he couldn't.

"This country has some serious soul searching to do. "

Let's not generalize one incident into a whole country, shall we ?

Just because America has many rapists, murderers, child abusers, sex slaves doesn't mean majority of the people over there are bad. It just means that there are always bad apples, in this case irresponsible parents who are not paying attention to their kids.

By the way, I see that every single post you made about darvish is negative, LOL. Do you have something against him ? When he does well, I'm sure you will come up with excuses because, well, you are American.

Keep praying that he will do badly all year long, if you have nothing better to do

Why does anyone need an excuse for Darvish ? He had one win and no decision so far, not great, not bad.
What about pitch count ? I have no idea what you are talking about.

    @gyouza

They are only talking about goal line technology. You are somehow confusing this with instant replay.

Either way, this is a great progress. It sucks to lose a game, especially at the world cup level due to mistakes on the referee's part in a low soring game like soccer. And this is a good news for referees too, because they literally have to worry about their life when they make big mistakes like the last world cup, whether goal or not

"What adjustments does he have to make? Its baseball, not rocket science."

    Let's see the differences ,

    1. The size of the ball is slightly different.
    2. Different strike zone, it's wider on the outside in the majors
    3. The mound is harder and higher in the US
    4. Long flights between games that he didn't have to go through in Japan

And of course these are some things i can think of off the top of my head besides the usual language barriar, getting to used to different culture, incredible amount of pressure etc.
