No one says she wants money. No one says she deserved it. What I am saying is that she shares some responsibility for what happened. She knows she shouldn't be drinking, and she went to his hotel? Do any of you remember being 19? Do you really think a 19-year-old is a child??

Thank you Nessie.
And you know that for sure? If he were equally drunk, why is he held completely accountable as if he were sober, and she is not?
I find it alarming that a woman claiming rape makes people automatically * assume guilt on the part of the male, and the attitude that the woman is NEVER at fault for putting herself in a dangerous situation. In any other scenario, someone flashing a roll of money in a nightclub who later gets robbed, someone who drives carelessly and then has an accident or runs someone over, people will say 'Too bad that happened, but they should have seen it coming'. In cases of claimed (not proven) rape, instantly the woman becomes the next incarnation of the Virgin Mary, a poor innocent flower that was preyed upon by a wolf, despite copious alcohol consumption, the woman herself making advances, or going to a man's hotel room. They hold a man culpable while equally drunk....a man can control himself completely while three sheets to the wind, even though a woman in the same state 'couldn't help it'? That's almost to the point of patronizing women....'poor thing, you got blotto, you couldn't help it'. Women really can't tell that something might happen to them if they get totally sht-faced and go to a man's hotel room!?
This kind of attitude gave us the Duke case, where one young man charged was at an ATM at the time of the alleged crime, but was charged anyway. Where no DNA from any of the 40-some-odd lacrosse players was found (despite the semen of four other men being found), but they were charged anyway. The other stripper at the party testified that Crystal Gail was only in the bathroom long enough to use it, and not for almost an hour, and they were charged anyway. She said they did it, they must have! As soon as they were charged, and before trial, they were pronounced guilty in the media and on blogs like Feministing. The professors of Duke released a joint statement condemning the boys. The lacrosse team had the remainder of their season cancelled, the boys lost a year of their educations. It doesn't frighten any of you at all? You can be on camera miles away, use your entrance card and be time-stamped coming into the dorm after the alleged incident and you can still be charged...if a woman says you raped her, you must have.
The Duke case is not an isolated case. One more famous case was in England, a drunk woman screamed rape and got a taxi driver arrested. He was pilloried in the press and online lost his job, his wife threatened to leave him. His cab's camera, however, showed him asking her to pay her fare, her refusing and then running from the cab screaming.
This case will be prosecuted. What happened will eventually come out in a court of law, until then it's rash to decide that he's guilty, and that she has no responsibility at all.

Not 'is stupid' but as I wrote 'hasn't taken care of someone with dementia'. I said what I meant.
We've had to place her because she started lighting things on fire when she felt cold....I just couldn't watch her 24 hours a day. I go to the hospital 1-2 times a week and spend several hours with her, take her to the hairdressers, take her out to eat if she wants to go, and it's going well. I'm make sure she never wants for anything, and she's well dressed and well groomed which had always been EXTREMELY important to her, that she sees her friends, but I can't live with her anymore, it would destroy both of us.
So, lately things are getting better! I'm actually looking forward to the holidays.

Ok then, please tell me where I 'implied' that people are stupid. I wanted to lay it out in precise terms, say exactly what it's all about, and perhaps change someone's viewpoint (not anyone in particular). It was a steep learning curve, but I've got my second in-law with it, and know how to roll with it! :-D 'We all turn into children again' and 'she looks fine to me' are just my two personal pet peeves...I'd be rich, I tell you, rich! ;-P
For the record, women can be just as violent as men, I thought the title was biased, if the aim was to educate anyone....you could probably find just as many stories of women with dementia hitting family members.

I'm not implying that anyone is stupid, simply misinformed. It gets wearing after a few years of it! Nowhere did i say anyone is stupid.

For the family it isn't like caring for a child at all. With a child there is hope for the future...with an AD loved one each additional 'child-like' feature is a milestone not of development but of decline towards death. The sadness of one adult feeding another is nothing like baby's first meals, and the sheer difference in volume of output as far as diapers and toileting go aren't even close.....and with a baby you know they'll grow out of the diapers eventually!
Mentally as well, the differences are stark. If I had 5 yen for every time someone has said 'Oh she's becoming just like a child again!' in response to MILs AD-fueled antics I'd be rich! It's actually the complete loss of all socialization, empathy, and inhibitions with the degradation of her memory. So, while she does have temper tantrums like a 2-year-old, it's with all the adult perspectives and knowledge and sarcasm an 86-year-old can muster and the strength of an adult.
Any of you cooing about them needing help just like babies did hasn't taken care of someone with dementia. It's a while other kind of hell...
Good God....if that's all it took!

Quite lenient with the standards for your own party I see........because they don't claim to be a 'family values' party (and what does that say) their cheating is less bad than those of the party that is? I think that's called 'moral relativism' . Either something's wrong or it isn't. Evidently it isn't when it's a liberal doing it, or Clinton would never have got into office.

How did Bill Clinton's 'bimbo eruptions' remain hidden till he got into office?
'Idiots'? John Edwards is a genius? Preaching 'green' while living in a 28,200 sq foot mansion (it's not just conservatives who like mansions, check out Micheal Moore's homes...) , cheating on his wife while she was dying of cancer? Gary Hart? How about the Kennedy brothers? The constant parade of bimbos and starlets through the White House private quarters? Yeah, only conservatives have trouble keeping their pants zipped, or saying one thing while doing another...

She said--
"Ginger White, the woman alleging she had a 13-year sexual affair with Herman Cain, apologized Thursday to Cain's wife and their children for her actions, which could end up putting the nail in the coffin on the Republican businessman's bid for the White House.
"I am not a cold-hearted person. I am a mother of two kids. And of course my heart bleeds for this woman because I am a woman and being in a situation like this can not be fun," White said on MSNBC.
"And I am deeply, deeply sorry if I have caused any hurt to her and to his kids, to his family. That was not my intention. I never wanted to hurt anyone and I'm deeply sorry. I am very sorry"
If she was so sorry, wasn't she sorry all 13 years? And if so, why talk about it now? Scuzzy women come out of the woodwork every time a election rolls around. If they were having affairs with married men, it would be nice if their consciences kicked in before they dropped their knickers....they should be ashamed of themselves, but instead get their time on all the talk shows.

We were watching some program last week about severe burn victims. One girl from Indonesia was featured, her injuries were awful. She went to the US for surgery. They say 'Now, we find out how she looks now, 12 years after surgery' and they cut to this commercial. I almost choked until a split second later I realized it was a commercial. Really bad ad placement...

Oh, no,no,no! Don't you try to put me into that corner. Not one word did I say about the effects of day care and less time with a parent on a baby, or any other effects of working on children or the family which you do get if you talk to an SAHM who dislikes women having careers.
What I hate is busybodies who decide what's right for everybody else! That's a huge difference. What right does a flight attendant (I remember her in particular just because it was so unexpected...) 'He's cute. So, do you work?' 'No' 'Another one! You're holding all women back!' What right does anyone have to tell me how to live my life!? I was perfectly happy with my decision, I didn't like others telling me I was wasting my mind raising my own child.....it's rather insulting when you think about it, and it reeks of superiority.
My DIL has a five-month-old, she works and the baby is in day care part time, her mother takes care of the baby the other days (I wish I could-I hate being this far away). I support her decision to work 100%, how could I possibly take a stance that some other mother shouldn't work?

Why, yes I did. Magnanimous of you to offer them other choices :-D ...when it has absolutely nothing to do with you, if I may say so. Your dislike of SAHMs is apparent.
Feminism was supposed to be about women making their own choices, whatever they may be,not the choices dictated to them by NOW and career women, a narrow range of politically correct choices. .
I became a mother in the early 80s and decided to stay home with our son. We were transferred to the US when he was a little over 2. Oh, the slings and arrows, all from women...women somehow think it's their duty (with the strong herd mentality they often display) to check up on other women and make sure they're toeing the party line. I even had a flight attendant ask me, 'Do you work?' and snap at me when I said I did not. The comments were varied. 'You are wasting your education' 'You must not have any ambition, then' 'You are hurting all women by not working'
I think I love that last one best. My not having a high-flying career keeps some other woman from getting a job, are we all joined at the hip? If we're honest, most people have 'jobs' not 'careers', men and women alike, minimum wage earners to cubicle farm workers. Women were sold on the idea that work was 'fun' and 'exciting', instead of a something that's necessary to put bread on the table. A good deal older than many on here, I remember my mother yelling at my father ,'It's alright for you, you get to go out to work every day!' as if he was going to an amusement park. I'm sure he would have liked to have worked less! The talk shows of the day showed women who were models, in administration, flight attendants, all dressed in very expensive clothes, they made it look like housewives lived very sad lives. However, how many women get the glamorous career (even though what constitutes that may change with the era)?
Each women should decide the course of her own life, how much education she'll receive, whether or not to marry, whether or not to have kids and how many, and whether to raise them herself or put them in day care, and quite frankly, no one else has to be happy with her decisions but herself and her family.

Educating oneself is never a waste. Do you really want children raised by uneducated women?

All lit up! I got GE battery operated LED candles for the windows, did the tree and wrapped the staircase banister in garlands with lights. It's a lot of work but worth it.
