I'm with 2020hindsight on that point. Hovering over your kids 24/7 is not the best way to raise them in my opinion. They need opportunities to learn how to look after themselves. I think this particular case is more of a freak accident, and sure, it may have been averted if an adult was there to help her straight away, but this can't be blamed on the parents.

Don't be silly, Notginger. You make him sound like some sinister child predator. He's just an unfunny comedian trying to extend his life in the limelight as long as he can. If he dressed normally he'd be back in the gutter by lunchtime.

The way I heard it the helmet itself got wedged in between the bars, leaving her dangling below it getting choked by the strap under her chin. Nasty business. I guess safety helmets aren't all that safe in some situations...

I think Moore has a tendency to sensationalize and bend the facts to their breaking point to get his message across. That said, I'm glad he's around to counterbalance the apathetic masses who can't be bothered questioning whether things are really as they should be in this world.

I agree that most music you commonly see or hear in Japan is pretty insipid, but there are still some pretty talented and original artists hiding in the wings or playing at live houses, etc. Like most other countries these days, decent music is losing out to whatever is the record company's flavor of the month.

As far as rock goes, the Yellow Monkey are right up there with my favorite bands of all time. They broke up just into the new millennium, but they have a great and pretty extensive back catalog. Most of their best songs weren't singles, and there are only a few of their songs I don't like.
