    GO GO JAPAN!!!

I love whale meat. It is one of the most delicious dishes in all of Japanese cuisine. This is our traditional way of living, our traditional food for thousands of years, and we will never stop whaling. Even if all the whales were gone, we would send a ship after them.

As Japanese, we must eat whale in order to properly connect to our ancestors and rich, ancient history of the oldest, deepest and proudest culture in the world. Every time we are told to stop whaling by the outsiders, the cultural imperialists, we win gain more support for our cause as Japanese resolve hardens like steel to never give in. Never give up. They want to destroy our cultural identity but we are too strong. Too Japanese, too strong.

    Unstoppable.

After yesterday's stunning GDP growth announcement, we now know that Japan's economy is crackalackin' at a pace far outstripping any other developed nation.

Japan is stronger than ever, and this new economic boom will give couples the confidence they need to start big families.

Japan is back, baby! And this economy is crackalackin'! Just wait until we get all the reactors back online, you'll see 20% to 25% annualized growth.

This is the average amount, not what the rich have. Assume a household with average income has this average figure in savings and you are close.

    Zichi,

    i fully agree with Hashimoto.

"you can't just decide to restart the reactors based on the judgment of the local community."

Don't you find that sentiment more than a little anti democratic?

A 4.1% growth rate is impressive. What other developed nation is posting numbers like this? Mark my words: In three years we'll be talking about the New Bubble.

However, after experiencing the consumer-unfriendly return policies here among retailers (once you buy it, you can't change your mind & return it) I understand why people here are reluctant to spend & keep their money in their coffers.

Are you serious? People don't spend money because of return policies that don't even actually exist? If you speak Japanese you can return any broken or damaged product just fine.

    some14some,

Maybe, but I think Obama is looking for lower gas prices before the election. Luckily the Saudi's know what to do, they always cut production when there is a Democrat in office.

4.1% growth. Japan now has one of the highest GDP growth rates in the developed world. This economy is crackalackin' again thanks to the announcement that the nuclear plants in Oi will be up and running again.

A year and two months after the tsunami and what have we learned? Japan cannot be stopped. Japan cannot be slowed down. Japan is a beast, and now we're going after the world #1 economy spot!

    LFRAgain,

Thank you for your interesting comment. It allowed me to consider the issue more seriously and come to a stronger conviction that my view is the correct one.

Rape fits right in there with child porn, folks, no matter who's doing it or who's having it done to them.

Sorry, but no. Not all rapists are into child porn, and not all who own child porn are rapists.

An eye for an eye just doesn't cut it any longer in the kind of society we live in.

You are definitely right about that! I advocate three eyes for an eye. Let me explain: The criminal only has two eyes, so we take them. That way he loses all of whatever function he harmed in the other person. Then, to show the consequences of his actions, we take one more eye from someone he loves. Then criminals will think twice before doing something: If they commit a crime, they serve a double sentence and their wife, or girlfriend or child is ALSO going to serve a single sentence.

    Cletus,

Didnt you read the article one here the other day saying your race and culture will be extinct within a thousand years.

If that is the price of purity, I will gladly pay. Besides, you were on that thread saying how it made no sense to project out 1,000 years.

    Aliases,

but you don't get to decide for an entire country what is okay and not okay.

Not yet, but I'm working on it. Someone has to fill the role, and I think I am best suited to keeping out this sort of influence and manipulating public opinion.

The nuclear power companies in Fukui have paid more than ¥50 billion in anonymous donations to the prefecture to keep the locals sweet on nuke power. Kansai electric have paid more than ¥15 billion anonymous donations since 2006 when it told the prefecture it would run an aging reactor for a further 10 years.

Absolutely untrue. If the donations are anonymous, then you have no way to know who made them, and any claims that they were made by the power industry MUST be regarded as false.

    Zichi,

Guinness is a delicious drink, I agree. But, as Japanese we must be more refreshed by a Japanese beer. So if I go drinking with some foreign colleagues, I will have a delicious Guinness, but inside my heart is heavy, it knows we should be speaking Japanese and enjoying Japanese beer, because it is the best suited for the highly refined palette.

    bass4funk,

Some Japanese beer can be decent, but to imply that they are somehow superior to the classic European brands or American "micro brewery" then I must honestly say, you are not a true beer connoisseur, but then what do I know as a foreigner, my palate is NOT as sensitive as most Japanese people.

Japanese are raised with a cuisine made from fresh, high quality seasonal food. This is unlike any other country in the world. And we take this refined palette to our approach in beer. This is why the original recipes from Europe have been extensively improved upon. Better, fresher ingredients. More attention to detail. More devoted workers who will never be so much as a second late for work in 40 years on the job. Japan is unequaled in these areas. Peerless.

There is a quality of Japanese beer that puts it firmly above all else, in taste and refreshingness. It must be the clear, pure Japanese water which reminds us of the innocence of a Japanese heart and mind, absent of all impurity, focused only on how to best serve the Emperor himself. Our generation may seem on the outside to serve the corporate master, but the Heisei League of the Divine Wind is in our hearts at each instant, ready to spring into action, drawing a sword, trading a beer for nihonshu, cutting the belly open as a white crane flies across the rising sun of dawn.

    Bluebris,

I can't believe that in 2012 gay marriage is still such an issue. A person should be able to marry the person they love.

The problem here is the slippery slope. What is John loves a 15 year old? What if Paul loves a tree? What if George loves a pillow? What if Ringo loves a man and a woman?

The trouble with allowing same-sex marriage is that now all of these other situations will have to be allowed because there is no real way to discern a moral difference between them once the morality is removed from the institution of marriage itself.

Japanese parents do not pay this absolute fortune on education so that their only son can work part-time in a conbini.

They do now, it's happening more and more. At my firm we are hiring more and more kids from overseas. Many of the Japanese grads come to us for an interview and have absolutely no clue about our industry and no relevant skills. Some do, and they are great, but it's not enough. The Chinese and Indian kids, on the other hand, they are hungry. They will study and study and learn about your company and come to an interview with suggestions and ideas. Instead of fear, I see a gleam in their eyes.
