Seems like Mangaman is a muslim apologist. The clear difference between the face veil, a surgical mask, a helmet, a halloween mask is this. If a police officer or law enforcement official stops a person wearing any one of these in order to identify them, only ONE will refuse to be identified due to RELIGOUS reasons. Still haven't talked to any apostates I see Mangaman. My uncle is muslim but his wife doesn't wear a face veil but only a head covering, one can identify her easily. As much as you keep trying to press this its pointless, the FRENCH have made THEIR decision to require a certain group to abide by THEIR LAWS and the ability for them to easily IDENTIFY someone requires that face veils be banned.

I know some guys would love being groped by women but personally I would be annoyed if some woman I didn't know (even a very attractive one) started feeling me up because she "couldn't control herself". My body is my property, same goes with every other human being in the world. Nobody truly wants their physical space to be invaded unless they have a fetish for it.

They need more posters around train stations stating "KEEP YOUR HANDS TO YOURSELF" along with the "Groping is a crime" signs.

Actually both Rajakumar and elbudamexico are right. Mexico needs to educate the people in order to encourage more wealth in the country, but it also needs to deal with the corruption in law enforcement agencies. Working for drug cartels are the "easy" way to get wealth quick for many young people in poverty. But at the same time demand for drugs from those wether rich or poor become addicts doesn't help the situation either way. Remember the cartels are so evil that they just murder people at drug-rehab centers, overall they literally want to take control of Mexico and the citizens want to escape so they go to where they believe their lives will be saver (i.e surrounding countries with more wealth and economic opportunities). This is a mess that could have been resolved if the corruption wasn't allowed to run rampant and it requires oversight from one goverment branch over the other.

@mangaman a burqa is a full bodied veil so it is included in the veil ban. And as others have said, its FRANCES decision to ban it, and if the FRENCH PEOPLE don't want this ban enforced they will take it down. As I've said before, why should the religious ideology of a few win out against the safety and security of the majority? Another thing, why are you so bent on "protecting" a religious doctrine (yes the veil in Islam is a religious doctrine some adhere to strict interpretation and others don't) so badly? Islam has no issues protecting itself (even to the point where they don't want anybody criticising the religion in speech or text and thus stifling freedom of speech and expression of others). As I said talk to the apostates of Islam before you keep trying to support an ideology that will easily take your freedom and ideals away from you when it has the chance. The French don't want veils in their society, its obviously their choice as the people in a democratic society.

If France has problems with people wearing burqas its Frances decision to pass a law stating so. If the French people don't want it then the people will vote it down. As it stands it seems the French majority want this inacted.

@shinjuku surgical masks are worn for much more reasonable means (prevent the spread of sickness or harmful bacteria) than a burqa where in Islam "A woman must not be seen by men or she will not be able to turn away mens lust and lead men into temptation". Even gangmembers and riot protesters cover their faces because they don't want to be identified. The burqa is required in certain groups of Islam in order to prevent muslim men from the temptation of raping a woman... not that it helps, if you know how many women are raped in islamic countries (even with a burqa on) and to add insult to injury are arrested and persecuted for "commiting adultry" for being raped... so in many cases the women will not come forward because either way they get screwed over.

@mangaman I strongly suggest you talk to muslim apostates. They've been there and they've done that and they'll inform you exactly how they feel about Islam having been born and raised in either a muslim community, society, and or government. There is a reason apostates and ex-muslims have formed their own organizations to speak out against Islam... they know it for what it is not the "Its only another religion" thinking that you're coming from. France has a right to ban what they see fit. Islam has a potent formula for dealing with "free" democratic countries and its called using the rights and laws of that country to islamic ideals. The burqa has no right in a democratic society as it hides the idenity of the person behind it. Safety of the majority vs "freedom" for a few, thats a choice that those. Even in SA there was a nice clip on youtube of a female reporter stating in a debate with an (obviously male surprise, surprise) imam that since SA wanted all women on TV to wear burqas, and she stated quite beautifully, "I'm muslim just like you, I pray like you, eat like you, and I can go to heaven or hell just like you even though I'm a woman. But why should I have to cover my face which is my only identifying characteristic on television?!" So no the burqa is not always the woman's choice. In an extremely male dominated religion (women are stated as not being equal to men at all in the qu'ran which you obviously haven't read or don't know anything about). I stand by this statement on the rights of religion, "Everyone has the right to believe in whatever religious practices they want to as long as it does not violate BASIC HUMAN RIGHTS" And I hate to inform you but Islam's base ideology from past to present completely violates basic human rights as well as the democratic ideals that many "western" and some other countries have fought hard to implement in their societies. So before you continue on that idea that Islam is "just another religion" talk to some apostates and educate yourself more on the situation.

Putting pressure on the wrong folks. Why not put pressure on the cartels? Arm yourselves since apparantly its becoming more and more neccessary to kill or be killed with those criminals. I'm sure they'll be less likely to do random massacres if the PEOPLE fight back.

Well put Tigermoth, and exactly alone my line of thinking. I've never been to Isreal myself, although my aunt decided to go and become a citizen of Isreal due to her religious views. They will be fighting each other forever, they keep instigating each other but most people would side with Isreal in many cases.

Just to make a point Palestinians = Phillistines so somewhere in there a Palestinian "country" exists somewhere in there since the annals of history. But I do like the idea of the Palestinian state so as many have said, they'll be fully responsible for the actions of the people in their country and it won't be skirmishs, or repression, or w/e people want to paint it when terrorist groups start firing and attacking Isreal AGAIN it will be full scale war.

Hmm, what happened to teaching your children "don't talk to strangers, don't go with strangers" etc? The parents in this case were not paying attention because it clearly states they were playing games. The parent's are first to be at fault. And 2nd is the perp who abducted the child when he had a chance. If it was a "prank" (rolls eyes) what he should have done was talk to the parents of the child first and say "I'm abducting your kid cos' you're not paying attention..."

Imagine the day when there is worldwide peace and the US military will be able to focus on support and assistance like this all the time. Agreed Harry, for those that aren't scheduled for fighting and located in Japan this must feel good for them to be able to do something worthwhile and feel busy. Keep up the great work Marines :D!

Sad, one of Japan's main supply of seafood is now going to be corrupted thanks to this. If it can be proven that it will have minimum impact on the fish (which are quite easily mutated due to minute changes in the environment) then there might be a chance, but I seriously doubt this will not have such a small impact.

@Wolfpack like your post, and seems it hasn't sunk in until either its too late that Islam at its core is a religious/political ideology that only works through intimidation and suppression against criticism and other things. If only people really paid attention to how many former muslims have either converted to other religions or just become plain athiests because they're eyes were opened to how sick the ideology of Islam truely is. 1.4 billion muslims is actually a joke and propaganda in order to gain power and influence. In truth there might be 900 million or less since apostates don't expose themselves due to reprecussions for stating they're no longer muslims in an Islamic country or community.

I can't believe what some people are saying on this board. Some folks... actually make that many burn the US flag and other countries flags as well as bibles, scrolls, torahs' etc in order to offend those religions, but a koran gets burned and some group of crazy islamists in Afganistan kill people over it, and suddenly I see posters on this site stating "oh he shouldn't have burned a koran! Its his fault for instigating!" Think carefully about it in our countries where freedom of expression and speech are PROTECTED even if some may find it offensive. Remember Thomas' Jefferson's words said stating that freedom requires ever vigilance or it will be lost.

Hmm, its miniscule so in this case no cause for concern. But still this should send a message to every country with nuclear weapons which has far more radiation released than a meltdown and there is always a backlash.

The word "nuke" applies to nuclear weapons only not power plants. Well people are still looking for alternatives. Wind farms are not the only option of course but at least a nice boost (who says wind farms can't be offshore?), another alternative is geothermal (hot springs come from somewhere right?) as well as ocean current turbines in combination with each other. The only problem of course is a safe location to put them, while ocean current turbines won't be affected by tsunamis as much depending on depth, they can't be put on or near fault-lines. So it may be easy to say, "no more nuclear plants" but one has to come up with efficient alternatives. Like its been said before, the plants failed due to an extreme natural disaster, and then lack of sufficient and responsive actions to prevent a meltdown in the worse case scenario.

Yeah when Tesla starts making lower cost vehicles then things should start kicking off for them even better. I'm not on the fence with electric vehicles but I'd prefer a more hybrid approach of lets say hydrogen and eletric or (renewable clean fuel source here) and electric. The option to have at least 2 alternatives in case one or the other runs out. I would like to see more collaberations between all automakers to develop a super car or at least a basic design that gives us better alternatives to gasoline.
