Barely 7 days into 2012 and how many murders have there been around the world? Its been insanely ridiculous and it seems like a ton of people have just gone stark raving mad or demonic.

@Virtuoso There will be reprecussions whichever way it turns out always until one simple thing starts happening. The person/persons trying to initiate a criminal act don't do the criminal act. Simple right? There won't be victims if someone doesn't intentionally try to harm them right? There won't be criminals if they don't get some whacked idea in their head to do something illegal right? So the choices and outcomes of these situations can all easily be avoided if the initiator wises up and decides not to initiate a problem.

This man was evil and I guess I'll stress that he was hell bent on commiting a crime against this woman. With the kind of thinking you guys are using we'd have nothing but situations like the Petit families home invasion happening all over all the time.

C'mon, you bleeding hearts are so over you heads in twisted justification logic you don't seem to understand Justin Martin did not CARE that she had a gun aimed at him once he broke in. He STILL tried to attack her. He had been PLANNING it for quite a while and had INTENTto do so from BEGINNING TO END (he even talked an aquaintance into helping him for crying out loud). Second it still depends on how far the nearest officer can be. State/county budgets are BUDGETS for a reason, they can only allocate as much as the citizens are willing to give to certain city and state services and they try to use it to cover as much an efficient area as they can. Until we get a world with flying anti gravity cars and non malfunctioning ED-209s and Robocops that can be manufactured and ran cheaply this is what we have to deal with. Reality will always trump ideology until it can actually become a reality.

As Fadamor stated the home owner does not even need a gun to dispatch an intruder inside their home. Castle/makeMyDay law clearly says the owner is allowed to use DEADLY FORCE. If she wanted to jab him with a pitchfork or a nail studded bat until he was incapacitated she could have once he BROKE INSIDE her home. The man was blatantly obvious that he intended for quite a while to cause harm to her no matter what means it took.
@Cleo, when someone is comfortable living in a certain town or area and they don't want to move then they have that RIGHT to do so. This woman was quite prepared for the situation she was in and it doesn't seem like she's intending to move any time soon. We don't know how long she's lived there but she can choose to move when she feels like it. Can't make a salt water fish like fresh water if they don't feel like they can survive outside the habitat they're used to.

To be honest I have more than one. In no particular order, Burger King, Wendys, Sonics, Good Times, Carls Jr.... and of course my own home cooked cheese burgers.

Virtuoso the 2nd perp turned himself in since the police were en route after the first intruder was blown away. 1 learned a permanent lesson, and hopefully the other will keep that experience in mind to not break into another persons home. Pretty much Martin forfieted his life as soon as he got into her house. Tag that with the mother protecting her child instincts, he was really really really asking for it.

This will never change. Its easy to get into the Afghan army because they need people, and the extremists can take full advantage of this. Short of psychic abilities this will happen forever until the moles can be detected before they act.

Danged conspiracy theorist! xD To be honest though, I wonder how many of those leaders smoke, or eat food that doesn't decrease the chances of cancerous cells growing... instability in those regions would create what benefit to the US? Or maybe, its some other country (acts paranoid) that wants to take out the South American nations D: C'mon Chavez, think outside the box!

Believe it or not I'm actually with the Uighur population on this one. But it all comes down to who got the territory first and the indiginous population seems to be the Uighurs. They don't speak mandarin, they speak turkish. I'm gathering that Chinese gov infringed on their land (kind of like the Tibetan situation). Completely different languages and people.

Ambitious indeed. I think China's getting around to learning that you can't imitate only, you have to work in safety standards and a system that improves as many faults as possible. Facades are only facades, have to put some real quality function behind the system to make it work...properly

@bello420 I agree with you completely. The old adage, "can lead a horse to water but can't make them drink" applies to these countries. The US and Nato tried to give these countries some tools to bring themselves up, but the society and culture too many of them want to muck about in the sewage and dirt with no advancement whatsoever. Those that do want to advance and become more modern are either too frightened to keep fighting for themselves, or are being killed when they try.

Nandakandamanda I can't believe how you're trying to white-wash and ignore historical documents/interpretations that Mohammed and his followers wrote themselves. Mohammed "defended" himself against Mecca when he invaded? No matter how you twist it Mohammed's history is anything but peaceful and considerate compared to many of the other historical "holy men" that started and influenced religious beliefs without using an army and violence to inspire their ideals. The true Islamic interpretation (the one the founder inspired) is not peaceful except for other muslims. And even then the only wrong interpretation that the extremists are doing is that they're willing to kill other muslims. The violence against non-muslims is de-facto no matter what you think Islam "should be" compared to what it actually IS. It takes a muslim thinking beyond Islam to treat others and non-muslims as human beings instead of kafirs.
I'll never forget an Imam being interviewed in SA being asked why their country doesn't allow other religions to have freedom and he said, "When you know that 1+1=2 (Islam is right) then why should you accept those that say 1+1=3 (anything that is not Islam is wrong)? You can't allow something to mislead people that you think is wrong."
The only way for Islam to become the interpretation you seem to believe is complete and utter reform of the religion as a whole, starting with rejection of the founder. Islamic apostates have complete knowledge of what is required for Islam to change. Either it needs to be gotten rid of completely or deny the teachings of Mohammed period.

I'm all turkey'd out after Thanksgiving here. I'd rather have a christmas goose/chicken/duck or even a cornish hen. Anyways, at least its better to try and tie up the birds end or staple it after stuffing with the skin unless of course you decide to leave it empty.
