They've had an Islamic government for quite a while. I don't things will change all that much no matter what group gets into power. Although the copts and any other non-islamic religious followers might get targeted more if not officially hunted out and persecuted for not following government religious dictate.

@smithinjapan, he went out the easy way. He could have died at the hands of his people in a gruesome way like some dictators that got what they worked for. As for shining example of humanity? There are going on 7billion people in this world and a good 99% won't be mourning the passing of someone that did evil to them. As a human being I'm glad to see someone that did no good to others and never changed their stripes to the very end meet their end. They'll no longer be able to do anything to anyone else anymore.

Sad to see a leader passing after doing great things and achieving much for his fellow countrymen/women. I'm sure the Czechs will miss him dearly.

FINALLY, the self serving dictator has shown that he too is mortal. Question now is will things improve, stay the same, or get worse for N.Korea?

Actually the US has one of the best report rates of rapes and attempted rapes because the law will actually do something about it as well as fully supportive therapy groups and assistance in such cases. Compared to Japan where how many rapes go unreported because the women are too embarassed or the law sits on their laurels or tries to downplay it and how many support programs for victims of rape? Even then Japan has things better than ME countries where the women can either be beaten, imprisoned, and even excecuted for being the victim of rape (because its considered adultry) and many of the perpetrators get to walk around freely with no punishment whatsoever. This is just giving a statistic of how many people are victims or near victims of rape in the US. The number could be much higher, but its still better for it to hit 0% in the long run.

No human being is perfect. Besides as for whether he was praying or not, its not for us to care about right? People can pray to whatever they believe in their own head. He sounds like a very interesting person though... although dying by way of cancer sticks sucks. Hard way to go.

Good parents always know that their "children" should always have cosequences for anything they do wrong. This mother made sure her son was made to take responsibility for his actions. When I have kids the first thing they'll learn is that it is better to be disciplined by the parents because sooner or later it won't be them punishing the children, but the world. And we all know the world doesn't have much in the way of leniency.

@Serrano I agree, I don't get it either but from what I hear its some kind of control thing... Still don't get it though. I think most rape victims are either too scared, drugged, or stunned with disbelief to fight back. But seriously if the victim is seriously fighting back I'm pretty sure the perpatrator wouldn't be too eager to get their "jollies" off someone thats scratching up their face, poking out their eyes, or trying to rip their groin off.

I don't know how well the AU PM is doing her country but I think that most politicians especially the head leader should be making a decent amount of cash like that. They're responsible for a lot of things that lead a country(not a company) and they're "hired" by election (public opinion), not a human resources department and could either be forced out of office or resign if they can't finish their term limit.

@gonemad he pretty much criticised the Thai "royal" family in something he wrote IN THE US. They're arresting him for a "crime" that he did that wasn't even on their soil at the time. Thats where a lot of people are upset about this is that Thailand is applying their local laws to what people do outside of their country.

This man was already considered criminal in the police books, so how come he was still able to get weapons??? As I said if a criminal wants weapons (no matter how strict the "gun control" is) they'll use illegal means to get whatever they want.

This is both silly and sad. This means that the US will have to advance the technology again to counteract the techniques that led up to the loss of the stealth drone as well as giving opponents the abilities to increase their own defenses against the spying abilities of the stealth drone.

@kurisupisu, read a non-fictional book about spies and intelligence agencies. EVERY COUNTRY in the world spies on each other if possible (yours included) even if they're friendly with each other. This is a blow to the CIA though, they're losing a lot lately... broken spy network in certain countries and a lost top secret drone. Only success they've had so far was getting the location of Osama bin Laden in Pakistan. 1 step forward and 2 steps back.

I like China to be honest. Its like a place that has so much potential but its going to waste on the wrong type of people (thanks the gov.). Just like the US, there is potential that is actually being used, but also is being thwarted by stupid greedy egotistical people. It most certainly would not benefit China at all for them to start a war, or become more aggressive since once they do a lot of their neighbors will really be peeved off at them and many countries they have to import stuff from will drop them along with sanctions.

if only it's that simple. Case in point, your I-phone etc. Components made in Korea, Japan etc etc and assembled ( made ) in China.

While that may be true, when was the last time China actually improved on the design instead of just attempt the best copy they can make? China can copy as much as they want, they'll be dangerous when they finally learn to improve and come up with innovative designs of their own based on the tech they steal or buy.

I agree with some people on this, good manners are never outmoded. I hold the door open for anyone whether male or female etc. If I think someone looks like they need rest or are elderly/handicapped I will give them my seat. As cleo said this shouldn't be done for brownie buttons or expecting someone to say thank you for doing so. I treat people with respect and consideration unless they show they have no respect for themselves or others.

This guy obviously wanted suicide by police retalition. As for the people complaining about gun rights and making them harder to get... well hate to break the news to you but the yaks have guns, the triad have guns, the mafia have guns, even the drug cartels have guns and not all of them are from the US. They get them... pause for effect... ILLEGALLY! Every criminal organization dabbles with smuggling of anything that is not legal in their country and getting those items to people that want them by any means neccessary. I was shocked to find out even the yaks that should only have their organization running smuggling in Japan were actually working with other criminal groups and even having cells in the US. How does Japan get meth, guns, and gasp uncensored porn when its illegal? Criminals want things they can't get legally, and there are not enough breaks in the world to stop them until people can start reading minds. Even if the US were to utterly ban guns, people would STILL be getting them due to smugglers and criminals doing what they do best, breaking laws.

Too bad the US isn't doing this as well as Canada is. Our politicians are still too busy trying to get cheap housekeepers, maintanence workers, and gardeners to worry about whether the people working for them are in the US legally or not. If the immigrant comes here and does what the LAW requires to attain citizenship people have absolutely no qualms with them staying. But when the laws are broken in order to get citizenship by hook or crook then people are going to be cheesed.

TinTin fan here too. Not really going to be interested in the game but it might be good considering the material that there is to work with. Considering how popular Tintin is world wide its sad that its not as well known in the US except for maybe a lot of the older generations from the 1940-60s at latest. I've been reading Tintin since I was about 12 having been born in 1977.

Well, mudslinging and skeletons ALWAYS come out of the closet when people start trying to run for some office or another. Cain just wasn't smart enough to handle his business before he announced his campaign for the oval office. Honestly though the republican line up isn't going off too well and I'm pretty sure that Obama will get another term. Even so both sides need to stop this pointless bickering and start using their brains and supposed skills to do their job, instead of relying on empty air promises and blame games.
