I'm always amused as all that stuff is still alien to me. The stores are colorful and people are loud and cheery, even if it's fake. Just another reminder that you are not in your home country, unless they do that stuff in your home country...

What I don't understand is all you people going in these places with such a negative, cynical attitude. If you don't like them, pass them up. I often will go in just for a look, even without the intention of buying anything just to get a look-see.

No matter what, don't be rude! They are just doing their job, after all.

well, a Japanese friend of mine taught me the magic words: "damare!". It worked wonderfully.

That's just rude. It may be effective... but still plain rude.

Funny that this kind of mess can be so close to the US without the US poking her head in as usual. This country really needs to get it together, even if it means temporary military control.

I am actually more interested to know if this offers equal or more battery life for this extra screen space. I would certainly not mind having a bigger screen.

Stuff this rubbish. This is the company that took Sofmap to court for selling used games and lost. The company that has the lowest eco standard tn the world. A company that treleases updated versions of its products every year or so and advertise heavily to influence the young.

Court only involves greedy lawyers, all large companies have them. Also, about releasing updated stuff... that's what nearly all electronics companies do! Nintendo is no different. And if you do not think they offer quality gaming, you are the minority.

Hang on! She was pregnant at 16, is now 21 and, as of today she used to have a 3 year old kid, previously married, divorced and now living with a 21 year old de facto? It sounds like a recipe for disaster in any country. Sad!

That is not a recipe for disaster. It happens so often, you are blind if you cannot see it. While it's certainly not a good idea to have a child so early, the situation most often works out.

It was the weak minds of the parent(s) that caused this. They were not mentally stable enough to have this child like the majority of people are. It's just a case of being born to the wrong people.

Absolute solution is to use the rubber! Heck, take the pill beforehand too. There should be no reason to have an unwanted child. In the cases it does happen, drop the child off in the front door of authorities. They have no choice. It's a better decision.

While I never would depend on wikipedia as a base for research, it is incredibly useful for getting ideas before research. Most topics are very well made and quite useful for random questions.

I fully support this great site, despite some minor flaws.

Sooo, I guess these girls aren't worried about getting fat... unless they thought that they'd lose some of it running away.

Btw, someone mentioned that underaged girls can't be arrested, you're wrong. Also, being arrested doesn't necessarily mean in handcuffs and behind bars. They were simply held for a while, which is still arrested.

I think this woman deserves quite a punishment (up to life), but some of you barbarians suggesting torturous activities or a hanging need a psych eval. Welcome to the 21 century in a civilized country.

Btw, fatal abuse and murder are two different things in court, no matter how you feel about it. Because the intentions are different, death from abuse will likely have a lesser sentence, unless the woman shows no remorse.

And finally, don't forget that not hitting a child as punishment, to a much lesser degree, has only been applied relatively very recently. While it may not be the best way, it is an effective punishment and has worked from about 20 years ago to the beginning of man. I am certain most of your parents were brought up in this manner. I am also certain that most of your parents grew to be respectable people who appreciate their parent's efforts.

This article hit the nail on the head when it mentioned "portions" as the main factor in health. I am sure that if you ate Japanese food like 30% of Americans eat any of our food, it'd be just as bad.

Remember, America doesn't have a traditional food. Parts of America do, but not the country as a whole. Think Tex-Mex in Texas or Cajun in Louisiana or Florida sea food or the MANY styles of food in New York. Those greasy burgers aren't as common as one would think.

As much as it is a marketing ploy, I find it as an important social ice-breaker. I mean, how many situations are you "obligated" to socialize and give to all those you feel "obligated" to give to?

Sure, the companies make money, but that's not the whole picture. You can reverse just about any holiday and call it a marketing ploy.

This is a "relatively" normal incident... It's incredible how people will make a mountain out of a molehill from an article of news. A few already trying to debunk Japan as one of the safest places to be. Newsflash! It still is...

Try to keep things in perspective.

Plagiarism software has been around for a while now. Even when I was in high school 7 years ago, they were using it in America.

It's not laziness nor is it wrong. It's an efficient way to filter out cheaters. I don't know why it hasn't been implemented mainstream in any college yet.

Wear a suit unless you really know otherwise (through research that you are supposed to do anyways). I work with the government as a programmer. Where I work we all have a very casual wear (polo and jeans is the norm). A suit worked just fine.

Kids at a certain age should also be held accountable. Say, 13 and up. They should have a separate charge if they willingly participated in any indecent act. This would have a huge impact on these kinds of cases.

There is no doubt in my mind that most of the children who do these acts for money KNOW what they are doing. And in the case of this article, I am positive the girls knew that it was wrong.

Both parties should be taught a lesson. Otherwise, it only encourages the girls who get away with it.

I think some cities in Mexico need to be occupied by the army for a bit... SOMETHING to make these drug people think twice about doing something as crazy as this.

Either that or legalize drugs and let the underground income dry up. Sick of seeing rich drug dealers completely ignoring (or controlling) law enforcement.

I don't see a big problem with clothing choice. Rather, they should simply go after the real extremism and not choice of clothing... In a sense, this would be like banning dresses and skirts for women in a professional environment because it portrays them as more fragile and delicate, as well as something to be looked at.

You know what dude... We don't care... keep it to yourself... There's no fricken excuse for killing your family and precious kids, NONE AT ALL. This kind of thing stems from lack of common-sense and morals.. They don't exit in Japan. If you want to kill yourself.. Fine, have at it, one less loser running around MY country, breathing my air, but you don't have the right to kill women and children!

Yeah, nothing good comes out of this situation and by our Western standards, it's completely wrong. I understand what you are saying, but you come across in many ways that bother me.

    1. I DO care. This is the mindset that is common in Japan! I want to know a little about what's going on in the mind of this society for the safety of me and others.
    2. You say they lack common sense and morals in Japan. Hang your head in shame for grouping an entire nation under this. There are many good natured Japanese people. Also, there are many (more than us) Japanese that say the same about Western nations! Don't be as ignorant.
    3. This isn't your country.
    4. I'd include not having the right to kill MEN too.

I thought the "take-over" has been going fairly well. It will only be a matter of days before the U.S. has complete control of Haiti. How long will it be before these people are appropriately taxed and enslaved? The party had to end sometime.

They'd be better off... they've been there for so long surviving on handouts from other countries. they need some order and direction instead of freebees
