We do have to take into account that their society does not pose this as a very dangerous thing to do. In the vast majority of situations, this will pose no problem and nothing will happen. In fact, leaving a child unattended happens all the time!

However, it only takes one weirdo one second to mess it up.

Leaving a baby in the car is dangerous. Even if it's not abduction, the baby can die of carbon monoxide inhalation if the air conditioner was left running.

I would actually question the safety of that car... If you are parked outside, that should never be a danger. Also, even if it was a danger, how would the mother even know about it? She'd be out without a warning unless there was a C1O detector. Traffic would be fatal! Don't give useless dangers...

The only "racist" theme I saw in the movie were certain humans thinking that the alien race was inferior in all ways and were simple animals that could be moved.

If you consider humans and the aliens to be two different races, it was wrong that some humans did not respect another intelligent race in their own lands with respect.

Whatever they use over there to stay looking young... they'd make a fortune off of it!

Or they could use some prescription eyeglasses...

Seriously, a 33 year old teenager?

Reason 1: People are taught not to make a commotion; this is taken to the extremes.

Reason 2: People helping with the situation are possibly committing a worse crime. I've seen it over and over; do not get involved in something that is not your business. So much for good Samaritans.

Reason 3: Those train riding work-a-holics do not take enough time to get along with their wives or other human beings. They need to get out more and learn how to act.

Proof, money is the root of all evil! All this over financial matters...

Some of you are disgusted about the body in a freezer of a restaurant that we know about... I'm more concerned about all those we don't!

    Japanese whalers

They are in foreign waters using a lame excuse to hunt whales. They are blatantly lying with the international agreement to hunt whales.

What kind of research requires over a thousand dead whales every year? Why do they not disclose what their research is about? Why is there no attempt for international aid in this research? Reason? Because you don't get whale meat (and other products) from research.

Go back to Japan and kill off your local Tuna. Leave the foreign waters alone.

I believe this was a plain accident. Both doing what they normally do.

The cop will probably be charged with a minor offense due to the fact that he was in a vehicle but it should be nothing serious.

You guys love to associate Disney with pure kiddy movies. Do you realize Disney has invested in more that just cartoons for a long time? Sure, they don't stamp Disney all over them, but they know how to make a mature and successful franchise, and they sure as hell know how to maintain one.

I think the franchise is in good hands.

Someone has heard a little too much from Al Gore. There are many sources that show that it is also a naturally occurring phenomenon. Also, speaking of CO2 emissions, you know what really produces those gasses well? Living creatures. That's right, you, me and Pooch. We beat out factories by a long shot.

What's happening is going to happen no matter what we do. It's the cycle of Earth. Stop pointing fingers and maybe we can develop technology to cope with it as we have for millenia!

The suggestions some of you say to punish this man makes you sound worse and more violent than the man. Seriously, think about what you say before you say it. You know this man is not going to be beat in the head like some of you barbarians want.

This man should be punished to the extent of the law and that's it.

After all the complaints I hear from athiests that religious people try to shove their beliefs down other's throats, this article really points out the opposite.
"O’Neill, who declines to give her age, said she wished parents would tell their kids there is no God at the same time they pass along certain information about Santa Claus." <-- Wow...

Most Christians just want to have fun with family and friends on Christmas, much like the rest. Athiests, like some in the article, should do the same and not intentionally act like scrooges just to affirm their beliefs. Eat, drink, trade presents, have fun!

Finally, why would an atheist ever want to spread their "belief"? What does anyone gain out of believing in nothing? You'll only bring bitterness, depression, etc to those who believed in a (non-crazy!) religion. In the opposite case, those who believe (in whatever) obviously want others to gain the benefits they believe granted by their religion.

Another example of the common crazy driver and the pedestrians that are not alert or fast enough.

I've literally dodged cars in Japan. If it were not for my constant lookout and speedy movements, I might've be on the news too! For all you pedestrians in Japan, do not rely on the fast that it's the "driver's responsibility", because when you are dead, it doesn't really matter.

I come to JT for the funny and strange news that comes out of Japan. It's so random!

Some people need a punching bag to rid stress. Kids are probably not a good choice...

"Women have it really bad here in Japan. Stalkers, ex-boyfriends, whatever, they are all free to harass and/or menace/assault women and police usually respond to urgent requests for help with something along the lines of "there's nothing i can do until he attacks you". Don't believe me? Ask J-women about their personal horror stories and chances are you'll hear about it."

Save this crap for the ignorant... women in this country can be the same and can be incredibly cold and trying. There are many stories of them simply using their boyfriends/husbands for what they want and having unrealistic expectations. They certainly are not all like that, but don't give women this sob story without realizing how women can be in their own way.

^^ Kaptain and relmor, stop with the doomsday crap and give a constructive comment.

It is certainly culture that heavily influences this. As a child of 11, I only knew was suicide was objectively. The thought of it was so alien that such a though could have never occurred to me.

However, I've seen children in Japan firsthand. They have so much more riding on their shoulders and are pushed harder than I've seen in America. Suicide is something I've seen in shows that they are familiar with. As is sex, violence, etc. When they are pushed to grow up this fast, their minds aren't always organized enough to handle it properly.

I don't understand what's wrong with putting makeup on in public... It's not gross, revealing, doesn't make much noise, usually does not make a mess... However, nail polish is terrible because of the smell... definitely something for home or salon only. I've never seen a shaver though... If electric, the electric buzz would be annoying.

Other things that don't bother me are phones (as long as not obnoxiously loud), magazines, pocket consoles, etc.

Anyways, one should not take up more than one seat on a crowded train, should trade with an obviously struggling person standing up, and should keep to themselves as much as possible (head on shoulder is just weird).

I don't believe this is so much to stop people from committing suicide rather than preventing them from causing train delays.

I have no idea why people are so annoyed by phone conversations... What are you doing on the train or in a store that you are so interrupted by some noise?

I think these "zombies" need to keep up their pace and WAKE UP JAPAN.

It's not the taking the pictures of anyone nude that's bad. That's fine and in many places, like the US, it's LEGAL. Any age. It's called naturism or nudism or something... It has to be natural and without any indication that it is anything but natural.

However, selling them for sexual pleasure is where it really crossed the line. Hopefully the child is young enough that she does not understand the implications or find that this is ok.
