It does seem incredibly hypocritical to me. And this is from someone who's an Obama supporter.

What is concerning NTV is that the two are going to hold a lavish wedding reception at a place which is often used as a location for for TV dramas and films.
“He caused a lot of trouble for NTV and destroyed the company’s reputation. How come he can hold such a gorgeous party?” wonders another NTV insider.
It's none of NTV's business, that's how come...

I think people are pretty well-behaved here except when it comes to the trains, but I think that's understandable in a way...when you're packed in tighter than a sardine in a can, and you have literally no personal space, the only solution is to really try to detach yourself from the situation and not interact with the other people onboard the train at all.

The maid cafe stuff is skeezy, sure, but it's not like Akihabara is Kabukicho. I'm not sure what they mean when they say "sexually explicit photo events" in the streets, though...I've been there on the weekends and there's nothing that has caught my immediate attention as being particularly untoward.

As I understand it, they've been wanting to "clean up" Akihabara for some time now. This may just have been a good excuse to do it, starting with getting rid of the pedestrian paradise on the weekends. I think it's a stupid idea, personally.

adaydream, if Hillary has her way, this won't be resolved until August!

skipthesong, check out CNN's website, they have a few articles where they state that Hillary's camp is fudging the numbers so that she comes out ahead. Obama's in the lead in 4 out of 5 vote-counting scenarios - the only way he loses the lead is if you don't count the results of the caucuses.

The only way she's won the popular vote is if you play with the numbers and don't count the caucuses. Otherwise, Obama's in the lead.

Whoa, fellas. I think the article calls it "largely symbolic" because those voters aren't going to be able to vote in November. In that sense, it's absolutely accurate. This may bulk up Hillary's numbers a bit, but come November, even if the Democratic candidate has support of 100% of the Puerto Rican population, it's gonna mean zilch.

McClellan's position is that he was lied to by administration officials and was basically parroting their lies to the White House press corps, believing it to be the truth. As such, he doesn't consider himself being behind any of the lies, but being more of a dupe than anything else.
I think, more than the predictable Republican reaction to the book, what's interesting has been the media's reaction to McClellan's accusations that reporters failed to do their job. You've got some people like Wolf Blitzer and Mike Allen trying to shrug it off and act like they did nothing wrong, while others like Howard Kurtz are acccepting culpability.

skipthesong, I'm pretty sure you're mistaken about Puerto Ricans running for President or VP. I remember former PR Governor Rossello mentioning he couldn't be Gore's running mate back in 2000 because he had been born in Puerto Rico.

I don't know about worst in history, but he's certainly completely incompetent. I don't think anyone could rationally argue that he's been a GOOD president by any measure.

I don't think either Obama or Clinton is electable at this point, honestly. Their negatives are just way too high.

It's interesting how the Republican talking points on the whole Scott McClellan debacle boil down to "He sounds like a Democrat" or "He sounds like a left-wing blogger," and neither deny the substance or the content of his remarks. Lest we forget, this is not the first time a member of the Bush administration has left after being burned (Colin Powell is the most prominent example, though he's sort of tried to stay above the partisan fray).

PR is mostly hispanic, and Hillary has always performed very strongly among hispanics. This victory is not a surprise.

Henry Fonda in Once Upon a Time in the West. Gian Maria Volonte in For a Few Dollars More. James Earl Jones/David Prowse as Darth Vader in the original Star Wars movies. Orson Welles in The Stranger, and Touch of Evil.

Has to do with the Constitution, I believe. The craziest part is that the US government reserves the right to remove US citizenship from Puerto Ricans at any time - I doubt that they'll ever do it, but it's still a pretty crazy situation.
Puerto Ricans also can't run for higher office, such as vice-president or president, just like (to give a prominent example) Schwarzenegger.
