Hey, i never said the guy was perfect. I am just saying that he probably never needed any sort of affirmative action to get to where he is. I don't care how much affirmative action exists in the US, but no college is gonna just give someone the title of Suma Kum Laude just because they are of a different skin color. Especially not one so prestigious as the one he went to school at. You gotta work your bum off to get that on top of being an exception person.

I was just gonna say something along those lines. I mean, the guy is a Certified Genius. Even if he did benefit from Affirmative Action at some point earlier on, I am sure he could have done just as well without it.

Some of you really need to take a criminal justice class to see that America's crime rate as it relates to race is a little more complex than group A commits more crime than group B. The Black population crime statistics indicate that Black crime rate is not proportionate to their population. If you take the two populations and compare them side by side, it is pretty plain to see that a Black man is more likely to go to jail than a white one. This doesn't necessarily mean that the majority of the crime in the US is committed by black people. 20% of the black population committing crimes is not the same as 8% of the White population commiting crimes.

Boy, amazing how one tiny altercation stirs up the proverbial "racial shitstorm" in the US. On the one hand, the officer was just doing his job. I have cops in my family and the amount of BS they have to deal with on a daily basis is unbelievable. ON the other hand, I completely understand how Mr. Gates is probably feeling about this.

As a mixed Race child of a black man and an Asian woman, I am wondering why the hell this is considered news. This isn't anything new and is not even news worthy might I add. Had he shown some I.D., or better yet not forgotten his keys, this could have been avoided. On the other hand, I understand perfectly why he was probably tired of having to show ID in his own neighbor hood.

Seems that way flatearther. Everyone has a few skeletons in their closet. For the most part, Mcnair was a very nice, approachable, stand-up role-model type of guy from what i remember a few years back. Even with this adultery thing, I seriously dont believe that he needed to be killed. Especially in such a fashion. He has my sympathy, but at the same time, He did make his bed.

Yeah. Princess Diana's funeral was a pretty big spectacle as well. I remember it well. I was only in the 7th grade when she died, but i do remember them stopping class for us to watch the funeral on a tape or something.

Barley a blip? I am confused. When did a 20x platinum album qualify as "barley a blip"?

OH the door swings both ways. Had it been a dem, the republicans would have been in here shooting off their mouth and it would be the dems who were silent. Human behavior is far too predictable.

Hey, not many caring parents would accept 20 million dollars for having their kid scarred for life. I personally would want to see someone carted off to jail knowing full well what happens to pedophiles in prison. This just goes to show that it is all about the green for some folks. Anyway, R.I.P. Mr. Jackson. I am an 80s kid and have many fond memories of the songs you wrote and the amount of good that you did despite those who tried to taint you. We all know that the brighter any light shines, the darker the shadows around them grow.

And the japanese students in the dorm room next door have started what might be an all night crying festival. First my mom, now this.
I completely forgot that Van Halen played on that album. That was sheer genius. The fact that the album went platinum over 20 times testifies to that genius. I dont think there will be another artist like this one for another 20 years or so.

Yeah, like many stars, Jackson's life got really Bizarre after a while. I am sure the psychologist would have had a field day. But even with all of these recent things, I am still kinda shocked and a little saddened that such a legendary Icon has passed so suddenly.

What don't the french Scoff at? In any case, i think some deeper study is needed into this. How someone can eat a whole bunch of high fat foods and sleep all the damn time and yet not gain a pound is beyond me.

Diplomatic immunity is only for foreign diplomats, hence the name. I highly doubt that any one serving public office in America is gonna kick up a fuss over this guy. He was instrumental in taking the party founded by Abraham Lincoln and making it a haven for extremists and bigots. How Ironic.
