Yeah, i still think a 50cal is to big. Not above blowing them outta the water though.

And bombing Somalia is probably the stupidest idea yet. You gonna bomb millions to get rid of a few thousand pirates? Seriously? Well, what do I expect from a bunch of warmongering right wingers.

Boy, I do love reading the comments of Sarge, Wolfpack, and the other far right guys. It brightens up my day. From here on out, We should call you guys, the Hannity Boyz. I will agree with you guys on one thing though, Joe Biden is a loud mouth whether those on the left want to admit it or not.

P.S. I am just looking forward to watching Sean Hannity tonight. If Laura Ingram had fun with this, that dead horse beating loud mouth is gonna have a field day.

I just heard about this driving to work. I actually heard this on the Laura Ingram show. She was already derailing Obama like it was hiks direct fault.

We've seen how other countries have dealt with this. I am interested how the United States will deal with hostage takers. Except for a couple of exceptions, the US doesn't negotiate with hostage takers. < :-)(

Really? Now, maybe I am an idiot who just doesn't get it, but can anyone else explain to me how this is Obama's fault? I mean, from what I have heard, these guys got plenty of warnings about the region they were going into and were even offered military escort. And they still wandered deep into pirate territory unguarded. What the hell did they think would happen? Did they honestly believe that because it was an american ship that the pirates would back off? Me thinks that this is a highly arrogant view point. It isn't like Americans haven't been captured and taken hostage before. To me, it sounds like they were just asking for it. And they got it.

Yeah, I heard about this too this morning. I nearly fell on the floor laughing when the Anchor said that the French president is waiting for a ransom demand so he can go on about his business.

Those Jihadists would be stupid to do so. They do that, and they will never get America off of their backside especially with a President who is actively trying to pursue peace. If we try a new strategy and it doesn't seem to be working or backfires, then I say bombs away. Don't stop until there isn't a single tree left in Afghanistan. If I were in charge of such an operation, I would take a page out of the African Warlord book or the Book of Joshua and leave no one standing regardless of age or gender. That is ofcourse, if Obama's current plan fails and/or backfires.

Yeah, what skip said. Unless they do some Mike Vick type crap, then they will be let off with a slap on the wrist. Guess it has to do with whoever is running the show behind the scenes. The NBA commissioner wouldn't have tolerated this one bit and this guy would have been sent packing.

Oh okay. The boats are fine, but using them on a human being is a little much. I am by no means taking sympathy for these guys, hell, shoot them before they kill someone innocent in a crossfire. However, a 50cal is a bit overboard. Seems more like a sign of severe aggression than a sign of defense of ones property. Even more so considering that they haven't killed anyone yet. The key word is yet in that last statement.

By the way, 50cal is just a wee bit excessive in this case. We are talking about a bullet that can pierce the armor of some tanks and take down an elephant in one shot. Using it on humans seems a bit wasteful when a standard .38 caliber bullet is more than enough. For what I understand, the Army is even forbidden from using them on enemy combatants. Talk about overkill.

I for one am enjoying the return of a 17th century problem to this modern era. It will be interesting to see how the "modern" world handles this. I wonder why it hasn't donged on anyone to do whatever it is that countries in the last time period did to solve there little pirate problem. Learn from history indeed. Looks like some people are falling asleep at the helm.

To add to what likeitis said, I think most people are grossly underestimating the power that today's nuke's have. A moderate nuke possessed by the US is enough to leave New York City as a steaming hole in the ground viewable from space.

Damn, this seems to happen everytime I turn around. First that nut job in Oakland. Then that wacko at the nursing home. Now these idiot goes on a shooting spree. I don't know what to say. I am not calling for a ban on guns because despite how gruesome and sickening this act was, it is a rarity even given the recent spree.

By the way, Obama has made no mention on doing anything about guns or gun control as of yet. I think he has bigger fish to fry.

I agree with superlib. Besides, unlike the war in Iraq, the war in Afghanistan is completely justified. It would have been over by now had that been our primary focus to began with. The senseless war is the one that is almost over and should have never happened to began with. But, that blunder is in the past. Oddly enough, the only European power I actually see doing something worth while is Russia.
