Nightmare scenario! My heart goes out to the parents, how awful! Kids love to jump on beds (five little monkeys). Unfortunate. to say the very least, rest in peace little one. Windows need to be resticted when little ones are around, opening them in a hotel should not be an option! As a father of a three year old I am very aware of this potential problem and have taken major precautions in our home. Hotels that have families with young families staying should be at least as aware as I am! Not in anyway wishing to critisizse mom and dad but an open window near a bed to me spells DANGER!!

Yet another excuse for a spot of smoker bashing! There must be thousands of potential distractions while driving, somebody wants to smoke in his own vehicle no problem, but remember where they are and avoid groping for them! This could easily apply to the non smoker groping for a mint!

Of all the potential hazards driving in Japan, cyclists scare me the most! They often ride wrong side, emerge from a side road without stopping, wobble and swerve unexpectedly, go straight through red lights and yes even level crossings. Very few wear a helmet, that I think should be mandatory. The driver of a vehicle is always blamed for accidents involving cyclists regardless of circumstances. cyclists for god sakes wear a helmet!

Why Mom was not holding the child's hand is totally beyond my comprehension. As for the driver, it is virtually impossible to hit something the size of a two year old child and not be aware of it! I once hit a cat at around 40mph, cost me 200 bucks for a new front fender! RIP little one. As for the driver and mom I doubt peace will ever be an option!
