"Face it, Iran was Hijacked by the religious right and it has the support of the American Left."

i replied to the above quote by saying -

says more about france's decline if you ask me.

    wow.

    where does that leave canada?

    good points, skipthesong.

note also the same people who criticize the bush administration for 'not talking' to iran (lot of good it has done our european allies...) are often the same people who would have you believe the truly asinine notion that an innocent, inward-looking iran was somehow 'radicalized' the day bush, in surveying the dangers America faced, included iran in the canadian david frum's phrase 'axis of evil' .

"All I can say is, those that sat back while Bush destroyed the constitution and removed numerous freedoms should sit down again and keep quit."

lol. how, exactly, did bush 'destroy' the Constitution if ordinary Americans can still exercise the right guaranteed them by the 2nd amendment?

what were these numerous freedoms we have been robbed of?

"By the medias portrayal of him as this great savior."

    you can say that again.

this is from the opening paragraph of the feature article in the latest issue of time magazine, gushing about obama:

"Some princes are born in palaces. Some are born in mangers. But a few are born in the imagination, out of scraps of history and hope."

"Where did Barack ever say he'd be cutting the military? You've said this before. You have a reference? "

he didnt just say it, he vowed it. barney frank wants to do the same. cuts of up to 25 percent. sorry you had to hear from someone who wasn't taken in by the media's chosen one:

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IcqhoiK8-Ww

"In a meeting with the editorial board of The Standard-Times, Rep. Frank, D-Mass., also called for a 25 percent cut in military spending, saying the Pentagon has to start choosing from its many weapons programs, and that upper-income taxpayers are going to see an increase in what they are asked to pay."

"Does this mean I won’t get a new gun for Christmas?" What kind of a society spawns children who want guns at the age of 10?

what kind of society spawns the sort of rube who would read the story byline and the first quote and not smile at the likelihood of just a little liberty being taken by the writer?

all we really know at this point is that obama will say anything.

i don't blame people for thinking his administration will find a way to impose a ban on the manufacture, sale and possession of handguns.

obama is on record, albeit in 1996, for saying he supports such a measure.

no one knows for sure where obama stands on guns or a number of big issues.

people are fearful. people are going to buy guns.

it's a democracy. voting is not the sole way of making your preferences known.

investors are going to keep their cash on the sidelines.

small businesses will deal with unreasonable, rapacious taxes by letting go of their young, inexperienced (and largely democrat) employees.

dems are already making noises about confiscating workers' 401 retirement accounts and letting social security "manage" them.

this will only strengthen the belief that the gov't wants to limit your freedom.

smithinjapan:" ...while I don't know if it'll be 'centuries' as you say, since Obama basically popped up out of nowhere to become president..."

don't forget - the left (and not a few of the old upper crust republican snobs) also said that sarah palin had come out of nowhere and was dangerously close to becoming our president.

heh. i do believe the youth of America are getting a positively radical message:

this is America. anyone of you can grow up to become president of this great country.
