    "Arabs see hope in Obama"

poor smithinjapan thinks the thread is about technology:"Hahaha... not even close, especially since much of American technology is borrowed from Japan and hardly created in its own country."

it will be centuries before canada, australia, england, germany or france elect an obama-like figure to lead their nations.

thus, the arab world still looks to America and beseeches its new president to help undo the wrongs europe did them.

i'm liking this obama a little more.

Moderator: Readers, please do not obsess over Obama's choice for chief of staff. It's only a small part of the whole story.

in addition, welcome to the 21st Century! Barak Obama opposed the Iraq War from the beginning in 2002.

from the safety and obscurity of the illinois legislature.

by 2004 he was saying his position was the same as bush's.changed again in 06 when it looked like civil war.

    he says whatever it takes.

his speaking style will be an easy target. the fake folksy tone he insults 'bitter' and 'clingy' white people with and the equally fake 'ivy league but black like you' schtick he pulls in places like philadelphia and detroit.

his conservative colleagues at harvard law dinner parties played a game in which every time obama said 'folks' you had to take a drink.

"An Arab news network blared U.S. election coverage in a Cairo hair salon, and the barbers and beauticians watched the images of Barack Obama’s victory in amazement."

you could easily remove cairo and substitute ottawa, canberra, wellington, london, paris, berlin, rome, madrid etc and this would still apply.

they are all decades, centuries actually, behind the United States of America.

I don't think either of them are as smart as Joe Biden because he is brilliant.

so brilliant he has to plagiarize others just so he can reach the average joe.

Seems like the Republicans have well and truly destroyed not just their own party but America...Hello even more debt.

the thousands of hours you spent trying in vain to convince sarge notwithstanding, you must feel great today, having voted obama.

but why is it you're not celebrating like most Americans dems that i know...

if japanese (and pro-obama gaijin) think having more young and unemployed Americans turning up on these shores seeking gainful employment then yes, obama is good for japan.

cleo is right. there was no poll saying they don't want you at their ryokan. i swear, it's like there is a certain type of foreigner who has come here just hoping to encounter 'racism' at every turn.

    i wish obama luck.

he was not my choice for prez anymore than mccain was for the republican nominee but i respect the will of the American people and have trust in the system of checks and balances we have.

i guess what the reactionary euros here are indirectly complaining about is how with this obama chap winning the presidency of the the most powerful nation on earth and in all of history the minorities in their countries are going to be expecting the same should possible in any western nation calling itself a democracy .

once again, America raises the bar...

    well enough.

the o-man will say 'jump, you who commands those who muck alongside us in your former colonies and ill-gotten protectorates, and the poodle will politely ask ' how high, sir?'
