The haters, the cowards, the head in the sand fear brigade sputter and spit and stomp and stare but today is OUR day, us, the lovers of freedom, hope, community and belief in a future brightened by President Obama!

well said. jesse jackson and al sharpton and cynthia mckinney and the race-baiting losers who dominated the democrat party until recently are as old hat as bush will be by jan 21 2009.

    good riddance.

I hear that Mexico has beefed up its border patrols along the Rio Grande to stop a wave of GOP economic refugees who are trying to flee south with their ill-gotten gains

maybe you have been in japan too long.

the democrats are now the party of the rich. no one is partying harder in America tonite than the trial lawyers and tort creeps.

obama spent a billion to win this thing. in a year which was a a shoe-in for the democrat nominee. he broke his promise about public funding. where do you think he got the money?

Voters got an early glimpse of his style last month when Wall Street collapsed, stocks fluctuated and the government intervened. He struck a cautious stance and deferred to lawmakers dealing directly with the problems. He was deliberative and careful in his response—perhaps just the approach voters were seeking after eight years of what critics call President George W Bush’s cowboy approach.

what a joke. obama phoned clinton, talked to bubba's advisors, called warren buffet and then begged to be told what would sound best, knowing that for now the media would do the rest. after all, this is the president they know wants to reinstate the abysmally stupid, luddite 'fairness doctrine' so he can silence talk radio, the one media channel that 'liberals' don't have control of.

I am very grateful to those citizens of other countries that have spoken such favorable words to Americans.

    i'm not.

though i intend to ask every single euro or commonwealth subject who really wants to chat about the outcome of this election why it is their respective nations can not produce an obama or a bobby jindal or a colin powell or a clarence thomas or even an oprah 4f's sake.

i've lived abroad for about 20 years. we are envied and despised no matter what.

kennedy was the last American prez that people actually liked while in office and that was when the 'outside world' basically meant western europe, which was still respected. also, in jfk's case it was his wife that brought him much of his popularity. other than that birtish pm harold macmillan summed up pretty well his victory and the kennedy machine coming to d.c. :

'it's rather like watching the Borgia brothers take over a respectable North Italian city.'

i give the obama honeymoon with the rest of the world a couple of months. joe biden did the same. he will be tested . early on.

failed domestic terrorist william ayers must be proud of his protege, the young man he took under his wing sometime while obama was at columbia. the move to chicago was next.

and now it looks as though obama has gone from from the ayers' house to the white house.

sad day for America, and by extension the rest of the free world.

    yawn.

we were hated (envied) when clinton was prez.

all i can foresee is even greater envy.

canada, australia, new zealand, england, the diminishing pseudo-states of europe are decades, possibly hundreds of years away from electing to president or PM someone like obama.

    Has mccain swept California yet?

Obama already has half the electoral votes needed to 'seal the deal'

so you two must have voted obama, right?

after the thousands of hours you have spent arguing here (though w/o ever succeeding in changing any minds...)stepping into the booth and voting for obama must have really felt good.

wild. bush hasn't even left office yet. stays out of sight for a few weeks and the America-obsessed goes nuts . i reckon they are going to miss him more than anyone in America will.

who are people like the ones on this thread going to blame when bush is gone, the press is dutifully reporting that obama is working his magic, but in canada and europe they notice that the poor in America still live better than does the middle class where they come from?

Up until around 2000 or so, people around the world basically looked up to America. Thanks to George W. Bush, not any more.

whatever. America is more popular than ever in india. i don't sense any change here in japan, as far as US-japan relations go. china may not like us but they need us to buy what they make. bush did more for africa than any US president. even clowns like bono and geldof admit it. no country comes near matching us for charity given to that continent.

so that basically leaves europe and canada.

most Americans realize it's more about envy with those two.

"The Pennsylvania Republican Party also unveiled a TV ad featuring Obama’s former pastor, the Rev. Jeremiah Wright, declaring “God damn America!” in a sermon.

"During the primaries, Obama was forced to distance himself from Wright, but McCain said he would not make the pastor an issue in the general election."

i was okay with obama until this. his iowa caucus victory was a great day for all Americans. it proved what many conservatives have been saying for years - America is already a 'post racial' country.

but the wright story was followed by rezko, then the execrable washed up domestic terrorist bill ayers and his hideous wife.

and all the while a free pass from the media.

if America (and the entire world) is lucky, obama will sever those ties, repudiate his friends from acorn, and seek the center that people like colin powell and warren buffet have reached out to him from.

Even if all of the things that you say are true, which I don't believe that they are, so what?

so what? in light of a tissue thin resume what else do you have to go on other than associations?

this guy has no paper trail:

governor palin has been cleared of any wrongdoing.

ANCHORAGE, Alaska (Reuters) - Alaska Gov. and Republican vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin was cleared on Monday of wrongdoing in an abuse-of-power investigation into the firing of the state's public safety commissioner.

The Alaska Personnel Board report, issued on the eve of the U.S. presidential election, ran contrary to findings from a legislative inquiry that concluded in October that Palin had abused the power of her office by pressuring subordinates to fire a state trooper involved in a feud with her family.

    it's a shame about obama's grandmother.

she sacrificed for him and deserved to see him elected.

she put him through the most exclusive private school in hawaii. in fact, i think punahou high is rated as one of the best schools in the nation.

she was there for her wayward daughter's son when his biological father dumped the boy's mother and went about his polygamist ways in new york and then back in africa.

she was there for her grandson barack when stanley ann durham's wacky marxism took her to indonesia and marriage to yet another third world muslim-marxist.

i hope obama experiences some genuine contrition for having slandered his grandmother by using her, like a cheap prop, when he called her a 'typical white person' in his bogus pompous nationally televised lecture to America about race.

    she deserved better.

Obama and Soetoro-Ng lived with their grandparents Stanley and Madelyn Dunham, and later with their mother, Ann Dunham, in 1970s Honolulu, where white people were routinely the target of discrimination.

Sam Slom, a Bank of Hawaii economist then, who is now a Republican state senator in Hawaii, recalls that as a part of the white — or "haole" — minority in Hawaii, he would regularly see housing ads that made no effort to hide racial preferences. He says he remembers ads that read, "No haoles" or "AJAs (Americans of Japanese ancestry) Only" or "No Japanese."

    [...]

Others who know Dunham were caught off guard by that mention in Obama's speech.

"I was real surprised that he indicated that," said Dennis Ching, who was a 23-year-old management trainee under Dunham beginning in 1966. "I never heard her say anything like that. I never heard her say anything negative about anything. And she never swore."

" I never heard Madelyn say anything disparaging about people of African ancestry or Asian ancestry or anybody's ancestry," Slom said.

BTW, anyone who is dumb enough to worry about these supposed one-brief-meeting based "friendships" that your new president is supposed to have with "terrorists"

obama and ayers shared the same office for years. khalidi's wife babysat obama's kids. do you know anything about chicago? know anything about hyde park? it's like a little island within that city. obama, rev wright, farrakhan, ayers, khalidi were part of the same radical community. for years. decades.
