I've been thinking all morning about this communication from the Republican Party over Obama's flight to see his dying grandmother, and to be frank, I don't think I have EVER been so totally disgusted at a party or a person's actions in this election campaign than I am about this.

now you'll really have no reason whatsoever not to vote for obama.

the united nations is beyond hopeless.

hard to believe that these criminally incompetent fools are the ones obama and his devout followers think America must subordinate itself to.

given the current economic climate i find it disturbing that in preparing for a transition of power obama is reportedly telling staffers to read up and study fdr and his '100 days'. especially in light of a lot of recent economic research purporting to show fdr's economic policies prolonged the great depression. like obama he was in the habit of doing what investors react most negatively to - making sudden and erratic policy change.

Paying your fair share of running costs is not 'punishment'. You'd think all those successful people waving 'Country First' placards at the political rallies would be happy and eager to pay their taxes instead of whingeing about how successful they are and therefore shouldn't have to pay.

another non-American who is clueless about the the United States' present tax system.

the top ten percent in the US pay something like 70 percent of taxes.

there are 40 percent 'at the bottom' who pay no taxes and yet are allowed to vote on, among other things, how the more productive or gifted are to be taxed.

liberals like to jawbone about a more progressive tax system, 'economic justice' and code words like obama's 'redistrubutive change.'

    it's bunk.

the United States of America has the most progressive tax system in the world:

"...But a new study on inequality by researchers at the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) in Paris reveals that when it comes to household taxes (income taxes and employee social security contributions) the U.S. "has the most progressive tax system and collects the largest share of taxes from the richest 10% of the population.""

Republican policies appeal only to a narrow subset of Americans,

as was pointed out, clinton is the only post war dem elected to two terms.

are you actually going to protest that the re-elections of eisenhower, nixon, reagan and gw bush, all in a span of less than 60 years, were flukes?

I'm sure you just hated the years of peace, prosperity, job growth, and budgets coming into balance under Bill Clinton.

the only democrat president since fdr elected to two terms came between the end of the soviet union and 9-11.

    think about it...

As of now McCain is a citizen, but not a "natural born citizen"

obama lived in indonesia at a time when the country did not allow dual citizenship. his mother's second third world muslim husband decided young barack's nationality.

did he take an oath of allegiance to the United States upon his return?

    most likely not.

why is this not an issue?

If President Obama's team runs the transition the way he has run his campaign, it will be the smoothest, most skillful handover in the history of the United States.

what part will the thousands of foreign donors to his campaign play?

McCain and his crazy choice for VP are going to be history by Wednesday, no matter how hard the republicans try to pervert the democratic process by dissuading voters with lies and rumours.

    what lies? what rumors?

The militarists, the religious crazies, the racist and homophobic bigots and those who believe America can do anything that it wants in the world, are going to get a big reminder of their increasing insignificance.

'militarist' is hardly limited to foreign intervention. obama has called for a national security force which will rival the armed forces in size and power.

religious crazies? are you referring to obama's disgraced pastor and spiritual guide, shrieking for America's damnantion from the pulpit of all place?

racist bigots? how did obama win the nomination in a country that is 15 percent 'black'?

homophobic? like obama's predecessor kerry four years ago, gratuitously bringing up in nationally televised debate cheney's daughter's sexual orientation?

The true patriots - those who really love freedom rather than the freedom to impose their views on others

obama's infomercial ran simultaneously on all three networks, meaning those w/o cable couldn't surf away. unprecedented.

work for a paper that didn't endorse obama. off the campaign plane you go.

I can't wait - and all I can say is that I hope all of the posters cheerleading for the continuation of massive and damaging failure under the Bush regime by means of McCain are gracious enough to turn up and admit that they were wrong. We all know that they won't have the guts, though

i'll be here. although i do not endorse the man it will be a somewhat historic day, one that speaks of America's greatness.

question is, will all those who have come here saying bush shredded the constitution, the country is virtually under martial law, the patriot act was the end of America, they've got bin laden in captivity and will use him as an october surprise etc etc be brave enough to show?

They have also attempted to scare the less fortunate with tactics used by the SA as it attempted to take full power in Germany in the 1930`s.

pretty serious charge. but without giving any specifics you just appear excitable and silly.

bill clinton relates what really happened when the financial crisis first became apparent:

"I haven't cleared this with him and he may even be mad at me for saying this so close to the election, but I know what else he said to his economic advisers (during the crisis)," Clinton told the crowd at a Wednesday night rally with Obama in Florida. "He said, 'Tell me what the right thing to do is. What's the right thing for America? Don't tell me what's popular. You tell me what's right -- I'll figure out how to sell it.'" [...]

    unfit to lead.

three more sources, some from the late 70's, all describing khalidi as an employee of the p.l.o. when it was a terror organization.

i think this seals it. here is yet another terrorist obama has very troubling long and established ties to.

from the site of writer martin kramer http://sandbox.blog-city.com/khalidi_of_the_plo.htm

note that one of the sources identifying khalidi as working for the p.l.o. is an l.a. times article of 1976.

and note that it was again conservative bloggers uncovering what the mainstream media is uninterested in looking for or too terrified to disclose.

    game, set, match to sailwind

    thanks for playing, dude.

getting back to the topic - politico shows obama's lead continually shrinking.

how can this be? the media's chosen one has spent a billion dollars getting himself elected. he preempted the final game of the national pastime with an unprecedented thirty minute big brother infomercial tv viewers across the country were horrified to find running on all three major networks.

The imposition of the American Way is a form of cultural imperialism which individuals can do very little to change.

    lmfao

if it is 'imperialism' exactly who is the guiding hand? did i miss something in civics class? is their a culture czar in the president's cabinet?

no one in America forces japan today to fill its 'world section' with the amount of American stories you see;nor is anybody forcing you to comment on them.

    name some names.

    thread title:

Obama confident, McCain seeks upset Sunday 02nd November, 04:03 AM JST

    completely irrelevant post:

"Sailwind - good to speak with a colleague who's been to the desert, like me. Now start talking like one, sailor. Just because I (and the vast majority of my colleagues in the US military) disagree with you doesn't give you license to cast doubt on my service. While I would love to be younger, I'm a bit older than the PlayStation generation you mentioned. A few more years, and I'll join you as a retiree. So, recruiting tours were worse than the Gulf, huh? Well, if that's your attitude, thanks for your service and good luck. Glad my generation of the military is a bit more professional than you were."

I can GUARANTEE Obama will be more into helping the issue than exacerbating it, like McCain would.

    obama wants to invade pakistan.

how is invading a nuclear power going to help 'the issue' of eradicating militant, transnational islamo-fascism?

Is there some historical significance to Jan 20 in U.S. presidential politics?

inauguration used to be march 4th. fdr changed it to the present date.

elections on or around november 4th.

    nation founded on july 4th
