I am so glad I was able to visit Taiji before 2009: beautiful shoreline, fun aquarium show, informative museum, and friendly people--a place to take the kids, which I did.
Now I would be followed, viewed with skepticism, restricted because I'm a Westerner. I do not blame the residents in the area for their change in attitude.
I'm glad I was able to see the beautiful place that Taiji is, not the place vilified by some.

It's a movie about a guy with a sword killing space aliens in cool ways. Yeah--I am going to see it but am expecting to see a guy with a sword beating up monsters, not proper verisimilitude.

I agree, bad locations. Rather, bad title. Better is "Places for people who have been to Japan before."
The article is a bad itinerary for those who are making a seven day, once in a lifetime trip to Japan. For them, do the "Osaka-Kyoto-Nara-Fuji-Tokyo" thing, the pre-packaged tour thing.

Dear Anti-whalers,
A bunch of people are pro-whalers. Go buy a $200 "I support Sea Shepard" bracelet if you are serious.

Scimshaw is an ancient hobby. Eating whale is even older.
Whales, dolphins, and sharks may be threatened but don't blame Japan. Japan has fished responsibly centuries. Blame pollution.
