Hard to say what really happened here and whether the girl was actually possessed or not. Was it simply a mental illness or possibly unexplainable or supernatural things were happening there that forced her father to do such procedures. I tend to agree with 7777777, I don't think killing her was intentional or malicious.

Electric2004 - Why are you calculating back from her father's age anyway? There is nothing in the article to figure out how old her mother was when Miyu was born. Thank you Apsara for clarifying this. Sad thing, she really needed counselling from her friends but no one picked it up that it was this bad. So sad... may she rest peacefully in heaven with her mother..

this is not 1,000 year events and is unpredictable. who is to say another one just like this or bigger could hit Japan again in 20 years.
The article make a good point, people need to continue to heed the warning and pass onto their future ancestors. And makes one important point, although obvious, people need to be reminded. thank you Jay!

Just ridiculous, how can anyone soundly sleep at night without locking their doors. You hear about this sort of stuff in the countryside.

I tell you, I just saw a Japanese TV program about a female book writer making a book on making a life on your own and encouraging this lifestyle. It seems everyone is looking at the man, but maybe we should revisit how J-girls are thinking these days about relationships. I often find girls here looking for fun and very short term thinking and is often glazed by hollywood movies, etc., too much Sex in the City thinking. They seem to want the cake and eat it too, quick fun with a foreigner and then complain about not finding someone. Older women seem to be choosing or wanting younger men, but the problem with that is it is just a temporary solution and then by the time they wake up.. it is too late as their biological clock has all but ticked away.

Good article and food for thought. I have a friend who bought a one room apartment for investment and used that as collateral to buy another apartment. Verdict for him was it was the older apartment that is bringing in more margin than the new one because it was much more costly to buy the new one. But the key thing here is rather than renting which are sunk costs, better to build equity which you can always sell later. And yes agreed, buying property is only good for those planning on being here awhile. And if costs are dipping, then that much more incentive that you should buy.

This brawling incident will be long forgotten in a year or two, so Ebizo should look at this as a break and a time to reflect. And when he does return to Kabuki, I am sure he will be well received and probably more popular than before.. Or, maybe he is an alcoholic which means he'll blow it again and ruin his career indefinitely...

I work in the H/R Administration area and have never heard of a Guarantor needed for a job. I could see needing someone to write down as a contact in case of emergency, but not for a job. What kind of jobs are you talking about Zenny11? Anyway, for an apartment guarantor, they offer services where you pay about one month's rent to get a guarantor to go on your apartment lease contract. And if you don't have much money, then ur out of luck. People talk about phasing out key money or renewal fees, etc, rather than waiting for Japanese law, try and negotiate it out. I have been here over 20 years and of the last 12, I never pay key money or renewal fee because i negotiate it out in the beginning.
