"I'm sorry, but I missed my last train. Can I stay at your place?"

That question was the start of many a good night back-in-the-day. If the trains start running all night, they're going to ruin one of the J-girls' best excuses for sleeping over.

Everyone's being way too hard on this guy. It's possible that he's a member in good standing of a "well-regulated militia, being necessary to the security of a free state". I mean, who knows when that dastardly king might try to return to take back his colonies by force?

The problem with Japan welcoming more direct foreign investment is that it often comes along with actual foreigners. They can't go messing up the "wa" now can they?

I am no fan of this clown, but given the IOC's track record, he's probably right. Still, it's pretty hilarious that a Japanese politician, and a member of the LDP at that, would complain about backroom deals. Irony truly is wasted on Japan.

Japan has proven that they're not quite ready yet for these types of large international events. I remember during the World Cup in '02, some politician warned that Japan should brace for a surge in the number of unwanted babies caused by "foreigners who come here and rape our women".…

Where is the "lock-her-up-and-throw-away-the-key" brigade today? They've been awfully quiet.

Why are people talking about rehab? You can look at her and see that she is not addicted to Meth. What junkie has only 0.008 of a gram or whatever ridiculously tiny amount of residue they found laying around? It's a nasty drug, and probably best to be avoided, but…

Actually, the Canadian government is currently VERY upset with the United States for its "Buy American" policy, as well as its protective tariffs over everything from agricultural products to lumber. And I should have mentioned the very obvious exception with regards to Japanese consumers and designer goods. But the article…

This is a very real phenomenon that I observed on a regular basis when I worked in the Japanese division of a US pharmaceutical company. The Japanese market remains very attractive to foreign companies, but as other countries develop and the spending power of the new middle classes being created…
