Well, in her defense, I would run away too considering how the tsunami of paparazzi coverage basically suffocated her and were pushing for her to jump off a building. What the media did is something I cannot condone. It was terrible how she was treated. I understand what she did was a BIG no no in Japan, but her sanity was put through a grinder. I am happy for her that she made it through the other side and is still alive.

Come on gogogo, we need to have forgiveness. She made a mistake, and I am sorry to say she was crucified for it. She suffered enough and she (as well as the rest of us) have to move on and look to the future. I think its good for her that she had begin to bounce back after doing what she did. This has happened with celebrities before and they have made come backs. I wish her the best of luck.

I agree with slumdog. You might be stressed but its no justification. My friend (although not in the Fukushima zone) has a husband who is under a lot of pressure from work. As a friend as she has confided in me, I know her husband gets angry at her over the smallest things and yells at her, saying some pretty nasty stuff (its a lot of mental abuse). But she has told me herself that it is justified because he is under so much stress.
I bet if you asked the victims they would probably say something similar.

My god... I think I am taken aback by the fact that I am reading this, and looking at the right column to see TWO MORE murder stories of similarly crazy nature.

I am sorry to say that Japanese people are afraid to go out and get involved. Remember there is a law in Japan that puts the helper at risk for being sued. There is NO good samaritan act in Japan.
I have heard people screaming outside my apartment but my Japanese husband has warned me not to look or to get involved. I once saw a boy riding a scooter crash out and skid literally 10 meters down the road. He laid on the road and then got up, his scooter was trashed but he picked it up and started wheeling it slowly down the road. He was covered in blood. I wanted to help him but my husband held me back and told me to not get involved.
What can I do?

Yes, I am married to a Japanese man. Don't get me wrong, he's awesome and well travelled and is very open minded. I just feel that as a Japanese man, there are certain things that must be done to ensure happiness in the relationship. In Japan, women are expected to take care of their husbands. When you date its different, but I tell you, if you say some of the things that are on that list written in the article, you are in for trouble. You won't get a guy that you want to be with long term.
When you get married to a Japanese man, the truth is in what I wrote.
I can do anything I want (go out with friends, write, go shopping, go to concerts and parties, etc) as long as some or most, if not all of the 10 I wrote fall somewhere in my daily routine. It shows that I am putting energy into making him happy. I love him dearly and I am willing to get off my butt to give him a smile.
Some girls from overseas don't want to change who they are. 'If he wants a drink, he can go get it himself.' That's good, and in 15 years, you can tell your 10 cats all about how you told him to get his butt to the fridge.
Look, my husbands deals with the Japanese stuff - bills, rent, insurance, and so on. He works hard and he deserves for someone to show him that.
The greatest advice to getting a guy is:
BE YOURSELF. Don't be afraid to talk about you hopes and dreams and what you like and don't like.
Put down your phone when you are out on a date. What is important is in front of you, not what is in your hand. I personally don't have a smartphone because I find it hinders human interaction. My friends all text when I am talking to them. It's terrible.
Show them who you really are. If they don't call you back, good riddance. You didn't need them anyway.
You will find someone to love you for who you are. Not because some list reinforced by quotes from teenagers told you to do certain things.
But if you love someone, and they love you. You must always meet each other halfway. Each other has to make compromises and it will all work out, especially if you are from two nationalities.
