    “They did not believe him when he said that he was in his own home,” Counter said. “He was totally mistreated in this incident.”

    Common reaction by officers, they find a man trying to open his door and depending on his color will react differently.

    If the man was white and the same thing happened the officers would help him in.

    But if black or other, look out your going to jail because you must be robbing the place.

    So typical of police.....

    I wait for the defenders of racism by police who will say the usual b.s..

    rajakumar at 07:44 PM JST - 19th July God's and nature's umbrella would be better idea than this immoral nuclear umbrella. God's and nature's umbrella is much stronger and is final umbrella. Above all nuclear umbrella countries ,there is god's and nature's umbrella.

    But when the bombs start dropping there is no god, there is only death.

    If the world understands that Japan will reply force for force then the armed nation would think about ever using them.

    M.A.D., do a google search using those letters and add bomb.

    USNinJapan2 at 07:56 AM JST - 20th July What are the third and fourth choices that some of you wish were offered? Just curious...

    I too have to ask, what are the other options you folks are talking about?

    Okay how about these two;

    Japan joins North Korea or maybe begs China to also help?

    Please gents wake up and see the world for what it is. Full of madmen with nukes who use the weight of those weapons to extort Japan for whatever they want.

    Time for Japan to rid itself of or revise article 9.

    The United States would sell out Japan if it had to protect itself. So Japan better arm itself and do it quickly.

    BTW the 2010 proposed budget raises NASA's budget by 1.5 Billion. From 17.2 billion to 18.7 billion. So

    I believe you can put your fears where they belong when it concerns our President's commitment to space exploration....

    I was referring to your post;

    So you're optimistic about Obama's commitment to space exploration during his presidency? Perhaps you could enlighten me as to why.

    said Cronkite died at 7:42 p.m. at his Manhattan home surrounded by family.

    A great American has passed, he was a very big part of my youth. I wish that his next life will be a incredible as this one.

    Sarge at 10:54 AM JST - 18th July Cronkite was the guy on our B&W Zenith TV that had no remote control - we actually had to get up and go over to it to turn it on/off and change channels! RIP Walter.

    When I was a kid my parents would take us to family reunions very weekend. When my parents were having a good time dancing and drinking "PINCH" I would be watching my friend Walter Cronkite.

    Many days I spent listening to him while my parents danced and laughed. Carol Burnett and Walter Cronkite were the people that shaped my early days.

    From her humor to his honesty that is what I remember a a young child growing up in the golden age of our great nation.

    I feel the loss of this great man, and I hope that I will meet him in the next life and say thank you. Because all those moments I spent listening to him made my youth more interesting..

    Too bad we do not have reporterslike him any longer....opps we do, Keith Olbermann is made of the same mold.....

    It does not matter whose fault this is, it matter the with what response the Mexican government takes. In this case Mexico has answered a threat by striking quickly. The United States should help out with what ever the Mexican government requests.

    The U.S. should do whatever is needed to stop illegal arms sales over the boarder.

    The President in a recent speech claimed that 90% of illegal arms recovered in Mexico are from the United States. Then Fox News tries to debunk our President's claim by saying that less than 17% of weapons come from the United States.

    Well Fox News tried to play with the numbers and came up incorrectly and so did the President.

    The best assessment that is our these is that about 45% of illegal weapons seized in Mexico are American made. While the rest are made else where.

    But, most of the weapons seized come from Southwest border states of Texas, California and Arizona.

    Here is Fox News' report

    http://www.foxnews.com/politics/elections/2009/04/02/myth-percent-guns-mexico-fraction-number-claimed/

    Then the report debunking Fox

    http://www.factcheck.org/politics/countingmexicosguns.html

    Last one is further studies of the actual numbers

    http://wire.factcheck.org/2009/06/18/wsj-gao-ties-us-guns-to-mexico-violence/

    BTW my source is from FACT check and not Huffington so you can scream at the none bias site......

    We need to help the Mexicans by stopping illegal weapons sales and weapons trafficking....

    BTW most of the weapons are not stolen from average people. They are military grade weapons.

    Also we need to make sure that American mercenaries are stopped from going over the boarder also. No I am not talking about Blackwater....

    We must secure our border and no, we do not need a Berlin wall. We need to use the tools that we have already in place.

    OldGeezer at 02:38 AM JST - 18th July Combined, they makes investment in U.S. manufacturing far less attractive than overseas investment or government bonds.

    You have made a darn good point as to why we need to tax the rich. What are most investment houses doing with their money? Are they investing it in the United States? No, they are profiting from us. So why not increase their taxes.

    If we raise taxes then the federal gov has more money to pay off our war debt. We need to get out of the red or maybe get our heads from under at least. Where else is our government going to get funds unless it taxes.

    I believe there are a lot of people over reacting to the belief that our President is going to raise taxes on the middle class. If you read his tax plan the only difference is that he is raising the taxes on the very rich.

    But whenever the right and the far right pundits yell about the evils of taxation then their people start to jump.

    The reason we are in this mess in the first place is that we began two wars and cut taxes. That was stupid to start with. Only a complete fool would ever spend spend spend, while he has less coming in.

    Where did the right think they were going to come up with the money if they did not tax the people to pay for the war? Oh yeah the Chinese and Japanese that's right.

    How stupid was that?

    Now if we really want to end the recession dead in it's tracks. The we should follow what Warren Buffet is proposing. Take a look at what he says and who would you listen to about money matters, Warren Buffet or Rush Limbaugh? Only a fool would listen to Rush.......

    Hispanics in general (Boricuas and Cubanichies) diet is very, very different than the Central and South American diet. Our diet consists of beans pork chicken and a fish. We mainly cook with Olive oil and we do hardly ever cook with animal fats (lard).

    The average meal that I grew up with;

    Rice, Black bean soup, a meat (pork 50%, chicken 30%, Fish 10% and beef 10%), (aguacate, tomate y cebolla ensalada) avocado, tomato and onion salad with olive oil, salt, vinegar and garlic dressing, with a piece of Cuban bread.

    Many of us are normally tall while the central and South Americans are a on avg not very tall.

    Will use Mexicans males as an example, on average they are smaller than most Cuban and Puerto Rican males. Not trying to insult anyone, just suing average heights.

    Mexico – Morelos 167 cm (5' 5.7")
    Mexico 163.0 cm (5' 4.2")
    Mexican-Americans 170.6 cm (5' 7.2")

    Cuban 177.8 cm (5'10")

    Puerto Ricans 174cm (5'9")

    Now take me, I am 183cm and weigh 105kg, when I was 13 years old I was 170cm and weighed 80kg. Most of my family members are about the same height as me or taller. My family is a typical Cuban family.

    BTW my diet is about the same here in Japan as it was in Miami. But now I am forced to eat more fish...Hope my wife does not see this post sh may get the idea that I am not a fish fanatic like her.

    Most of the Mexicans that I knew and still know are shorter and heavier than me. So skipthesong is correct with his statement;

    take a real good look at the cuisine from the Caribbean vice that of the Mexico and then take a good look at the cuisine from North Mexico and South Mexico. Very few Puerto Ricans and Cubans are fat.

    She adds: “In addition to immediately increasing unemployment in the energy sector, even more American jobs will be threatened by the rising cost of doing business under the cap-and-tax plan.”

    If your business can not change with the times then it will not last.

    With the invention of the car there went the horse and buggy. But if Palin and her types were around back then they would be be arguing against the use of cars.

    Hell, the far right would be up in arms. They would be yelling that we have a god given right to use the horse rather than those new evil godless things known as automobiles.

    If your business can not adapt it will die out. How many jobs were lost in the horse and buggy trade? But, where are we now without our cars?

    Now the time has come to move away from fossil fuels and step towards a clean form of energy. Will there be job losses in the present energy field? Well yes there will be.

    But how many new jobs will be created? Should we stick our heads back in the sand and stay with oil?

    I for one believe it is time to kick the oil adiction and become green.

    Instead, the former Republican vice presidential nominee says: “We are ripe for economic growth and energy independence if we responsibly tap the resources that God created right underfoot on American soil. Just as important, we have more desire and ability to protect the environment than any foreign nation from which we purchase energy today.”

    I love the term "god created", nope god did not create oil. Her god does not have a magical mystical bag pipe of oil creation. No god created the oil, she needs to learn how oil is created before making comments like that.

    http://wiki.answers.com/Q/Howwascrudeoilformed

    Now back to this childish notion that the United States has this magic pill called,"an endless supply of oil" in the Arctic National Refuge. It does not have that magic pill. What it possibly has is between 5.6 to 16 Billion barrels in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge. But to be honest everyone is just guessing.

    Now first of all at this time the U.S. uses about 21,000,000 barrels of oil per day. If we do the math, estimating that we have 10.6 billion barrels of oil we will run out of that oil in we come up with 505 days worth of so called energy independence.

    ALRIGHT 505 days worth of oil, waaaaaait a minute. Did you say 505 D.A.Y.S Not Y.E.A.R.S?????? WTF???? Only 505 days worth of oil???? WHY THE F"ENING GEEE WILIKERS would Palin ever say the “We are ripe for economic growth and energy independence"? Does she not know that that is incorrect?

    505 days??? WHHHHHAAAAAAATTTTT 505 days is nothing not even a year and a half! Does she have a clue about what she is talk about????

    Why on this earth would Palin make such a grand boast when most likely she knows the truth?

    Well it is really quite simple, Palin is trying to show her friends in the oil industry that she is with them. That way she gets much needed money and support for her projects. All the while sticking it hard to the American (consumer) people.

    Okay now, what happens on day 506? Where do we get our next fix of black gold? Well, if you said the middle east my friends, well then you are correct.

    Now the honest truth of what will happen to the oil from the Arctic refuge is we drill there. Each oil company will make bids to drill. The one that makes the best bid then gets the right to drill.

    After the company takes the oil it will then sell it on the open market. The country that bids the highest wins the oil. Most likely at this time it will be China that wins. The United States will not see any of that oil.

    For 17 years I worked for in the Petroleum Industry. I have some experience and knowledge of what I am talking about.

    Let us diiiiiig real deep and find out what the real numbers are;

    Q:What percent of taxes does the top 1 percent pay and what percent of the income do they make?

    A:The top 1 percent of all households got 18 percent of all personal income and paid nearly 28 percent of all federal taxes in 2005, according to the Congressional Budget Office. The top 1 percent now pay a significantly larger share of taxes than before President Bush's tax cuts, and also have a larger share of income.

    As for taxes, CBO calculates that the top 1 percent paid 27.6 percent of all federal taxes, including:

    38.8 percent of federal individual income taxes

    4.0 percent of federal social insurance taxes (Social Security and Medicare)

    58.6 percent of corporate income taxes (indirectly, through stock ownership)

    5.5 percent of federal excise taxes (on such things as gasoline, tobacco, alcoholic beverages and telephones.)

    The share of taxes paid by different income levels have changed over time.

    http://www.factcheck.org/askfactcheck whatpercentoftaxesdoesthetop.html

    Hm, now that was as of 2005. The top 1% paid more taxes but got more of the pie.

    hereandthere at 08:00 AM JST - 16th July The tax increase would be limited to the top 1.2% of earners — families that make more than $350,000 a year. these are the same 1.2% who pay the majority of taxes already... well at least 0bama(min.$400K/yr) and company are included... though I imagine certain "government" employees will find a way around having to pay...

    The term majority means that they would have to pay over 50% of all taxes but that is just hooey. This has been a far right winger battle cry but the facts are just not there.

    Facts are the killer of far right wing arguments.

    Hm so much to cover and so little room.

    WhiteHawk at 12:30 AM JST - 16th July In life, there are knowledge tests and there are performance tests.

    Okay, let us play a game, let us compare Hillary and Palin. Pound for pound and back for back ground.

    Let us start with Education I know you do not think it is important but others do;

    Hillary; Wellesley College, majored in political science, Yale Law School, She received a Juris Doctor degree from Yale in 1973,

    Palin; Hawaii Pacific College one semester, (transferred) North Idaho College after two semesters majoring in general studies (spent 3 semesters there), (transferred) University of Idaho (two semesters), Matanuska-Susitna College (one semester), (returned) University of Idaho where she received bachelor's degree in communications with an emphasis in journalism. (Wow she never finishes anything does she?)

    I wonder who wins in this category?

    Next Career's;

    Hillary; interned at law firm of Treuhaft, Walker and Burnstein, staff attorney for Edelman's Children's Defense Fund, faculty member School of Law at the University of Arkansas, Rose Law Firm (full partner) resigned after Bill Clinton became President

    Palin; worked as a sports reporter for KTUU-TV and KTVA-TV, the Mat-Su Valley Frontiersman as a sports reporter, helped in her husband’s commercial fishing business.

    Who wins this one?

    Next let us move onto Political careers;

    Hillary; Congressional legal counsel, volunteered to campaign for Republican candidate Barry Goldwater, 1974 member of the impeachment inquiry, First Lady of the United States 2 terms, 2 term U.S. Senator, U.S. Secretary of State

    Palin; Wasilla city council, Mayor of Wasilla, Alaska Oil and Gas Conservation Commission, 1/2 term Governor of Alaska,

    Who wins this one?

    So who do you think is more prepared?

    WhiteHawk at 12:30 AM JST - 16th July Getting an education from expensive schools is one thing, but if Hillary is that good, why didn't she run for office on her own, instead of riding her husband's presidency and deal-making into a senate seat?

    So you are claiming that her victory in the Senate was do to some fraud? She won that election with the help of 3,747,310. Are you claiming that all those people were involved in some sort of voter fraud to get her elected? Or maybe she was stuffing the ballot boxes?LOL

    That is such a joke, she won hands down against Republican Rick Lazio. So that claim of your hold no water.

    WhiteHawk at 12:30 AM JST - 16th July While the schools Palin attended may not have the reputation of the ones Hillary attended, Palin made her way up in politics on her own. Which technically makes her a better example of Women's Liberation. Can you accept that fact?

    Please explain how that makes Palin more of a liberated woman than Hillary? I see very little difference in both women when it comes to making it. The only difference is one is not a quiter.

    WhiteHawk at 12:30 AM JST - 16th July Bachelor's using horrible spelling and atrocious grammar to ridicule me. And while I may have only attended a community college for the engineering training I needed to obtain my job, I excelled at English while in public high school.

    Okay, so you feel ridiculed, what does that have to do with Hillary or Palin? Has anyone complained about your grammar? Or spoken about your education?

    WhiteHawk at 12:30 AM JST - 16th July Which left me feeling sorry for the poor Japanese kids for having to learn English from someone who was all education and no performance. Not that I would want to be a JET, but those kids would have been better off with the "less qualified" choice, namely me.

    Um hm, Um okay.....yeah.....hm....Now, what were we talking about...Oh yes...Palin leaving politics to.....help conservative Democrats win back America! Oh wait did I say she wanted to help the Democrats?

    http://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2009/jul/12/palin-stump-conservative-democrats/

    Now that is a thank you to the faithful far right wingers......LOL
