Good thing it only took them 10 months to open this office. Because 11 months would have been ridiculous.

A six-hour chase is ridiculous. If they won't stop and be boarded, put a shot across the bow. If they continue to run, they're cannon fodder.

As tmarie says above, we've never heard of trouble around the CN Tower in Toronto. There's no need to re-invent the wheel. Just do what they did.

It's rare anymore to find someone with intellect, a point of view, and the ability to debate. At least not in the public sphere -- all we see there anymore is people trying to shout one another down.

@sailwind: The possibility exists that the Republicans will pick a candidate who isn't popular with the Tea Party faction. That could split the Republican vote and hand the election to Obama. Another possibility is that the voters are so disgusted they'll go for the Tea Party and take their chances.

@freakashow: the U.S. women are ranked #1 in the world, making them the favorite in this tournament. I hear what you're saying about "American boasting" but in this case it's pretty well justified.
A real nail-biter, and one in which the Japanese women got away with murder a few times - I can recall at least two occasions when what looked like clear fouls in the penalty area were not called. I know that's the way the game goes sometimes and I'm not trying to denigrate Japan's performance, but if I were a fan of Germany I would be howling about the non-calls.

Before you write off the rest of Matsuzaka's career, remember that most pitchers who come back from Tommy John surgery can throw harder than they ever did before. He's going to go through a little bit of rest and then a lot of rehab, and will almost certainly get picked up by a major league club. His one great season before he wore out his arm is too tantalizing for major league GMs to ignore.

I'm with Jbeezy - Avatar was fantastic in 3D. It wasn't a gimmick, it really enhanced the experience. Most other movies in 3D really don't need it.

Welcome to 2004.
In 2005 and 2007, I stayed in a Y6,200/night business hotel in Nihonbashi that had free Internet in all rooms. They didn't ask if I was a "Rewards Member."

If you're slamming beers, a head just gets in the way. But if you're drinking beer to enjoy its flavor, a little bit of a head (no more than an inch, really) is a must. The head is what releases the aroma.

@nandakandamanda: actually, most people don't have storm shelters. At least not in Missouri. Some newer, upscale homes with basements have a secure room built into them, but many homes don't have cellars or any other underground shelter. In that case, you go to an interior room on the ground floor (often a bathroom) and hope for the best.

As Maria said, this sounds like the kind of book that would be great for kids in a school library. There should be a series of these books, which would allow kids to learn things about a different country every week.

I've been around for a few years and have seen many versions of "the next big thing" come and go. The kid's cute, he can sing ok, whatever. If I could deliver a message to him, it would be something along the lines of "save your pennies, kid... it's a short ride."

I've lived in eastern Tennessee for 15 years, and have never seen anything like this. The storm was ridiculously strong and came in wave after wave. I had no damage to my home or car (which was in the garage), but lots of my friends had windows and vinyl siding broken by hailstones as big as tennis balls. And most cars I'm seeing today are covered in dimples.

It's a fine balancing act between preservation of personal treasures and progress in the recovery efforts. I wouldn't want to be the person on the scene who has to make the decision about whether or not to stop every two minutes to pick something out of the rubble. Bodies, of course. But maybe not the backpack your kid used 15 years ago.
