Cynthia Iocono, from Linwood, Pennsylvania, said she first thought the quake was a train.

What does it have to do with the Quake in Chile.

122 Reported dead from the recent-eleted president (Sebastian Piñera) and 5 regions were declared as zone of catastrophe in the central and south areas of Chile.

The tsunami was reported as a 16 feet wave which were building up (one wave after another each time higher) and the people were able to escape to higher areas of the island. It seems thta it have receeded now.

My prayers to my countrymen in the South of Chile, and I thank all the posters here that are praying too.

We’re going to change our approach this year, putting forward a more traditional image and one of a smart, pure and sophisticated young woman.

She must mean after this particular photo shoot...

Yeah I think so... These girls going to a camp, I don´t know why it reminded me of "Rock of Love-Charm School" reality show with Sharon Osbourne... If these girls are going with Legron... Japan doesn't stand a chance!

Her sense of fashion is great for parties, but not for this kind of contest...

As I posted before, most people from lower social economic background will be alone without sex for rest of the life. Not only in Japan, most parts of the world. It is not their fault. Even they wanted a woman, they are not acceptable and desirable for any girl or woman including prostitute. We can not blame homeless, unemployed people and low incomers for not having sex with women. They are disadvantaged for the competition of opposite sex.

You are generalizing too much. "Most people from lower economic social background ..." "Not only in Japan, most parts of the world..."

what you said about people with these upbringings (lower economic social background) can result in sexless life might be true for Japan, but it is not for "most parts of the world" and neither is most of the poor people, in fact, sometimes it tends to be the opposite, that people with lower backgrounds have much more sex than people with steady jobs or are richer (they tend to be stressed out frigid bitches or way to busy entrepreneurs with no time for sex). This is more common in LatinAmerican countries where I am from, in fact, we have a say here "Nobody lacks of God" meaning that you can be ugly or fat or poor and you can still have a partner and various quantities of sex.

Why all of you MUST conclude it was HIV?... If you have depression and tried to kill yourself catching a pneumonia in winter is fatal...

If she had the guts that most people say, she would have told the world that she was HIV, especially when you participate in events like that. I don´t thin she had it though, because it seems that she was very incisive and wrote things as they were...

Kidney diseases are complicated, you must take lots of medicine that will weaken your inmune system too, I had calculus renalis once and the meds were so strong, the anti-biotic was awful that I couldn't eat and in winter when you are weak you can catch anything...

Two things: Japanese people are boring, just thinking that there are only four types of person, at least in the zodiac and the chinese zodiac there are 12!

A couple of Japanese friends once asked me "what is yout blood type?" they where astonished when I told them that I didn't know, and it didn't matter because I'm unable to donate blood (Viral hep when I was little) I asked my mother because when I was sick with the hep, the doctors typed my blood and my mother told me "it's universal" so I guess it is type O...

This is the man who less than a week ago had the audacity to place his hand on the Bible, which forbids the taking of human life and treats all human life as sacred, to take the Oath and become President.

Bush Did the same 4 and 8 years ago... and yet he started a war that killed thousand and thousands... How can a conservative person with "high morals" declare himself as a "war president".

he is far worse than President Bush, who was a man of morals and character.

    Please!!!

I have mixed feelings about this issue, I would support the "Right to choice" idea if the issue is very well informed, people with higher education and really think of this decision are less likely to have an abortion. Whereas in third world countries (such as mine) they stand for other morals, the religious sense about pregnancy is still strong, but also it is irresponsible for people to have unplanned sex and babies, they receive the idea of having an abortion as an easy way out of unwanted children, that is not the solution.

I do support the measure taken by Obama, as long it is not seen as an "easy-way-out", but in the sense that providing information about abortions will eventually lead to a balance in this issue, and in the future, to reduce significantly the number of abortions.

Ah sorry! I got mixed up with exchange rates.. let's see

    Basic: 1,366,623.17 Yen

    Grade R : 1,745,588.56 Yen

So... I was making the conversion from my currency to dollar to yen... I got it wrong... Actually it is pretty convenient hehe..

Still, I got a mazda Demio... at a bargain price of 1,047,020.75 Yen... that was before the dollar rose and the effects of the financial crisis started to show up... now the same mazda demio cost 1,236,355.77 Yen

The Japanese and other foreign auto makers should be rejoicing in the demise of GM and Chrysler. This is the best time for it to occur, when car sales are down dramatically anyway

No, you don't understand. It is not that simple, with that many workers that lose their job, they spend less, starting for those articles that are not absolutely necessary, like cars, (hey you can use public transportation, ride a bike, etc) If the car sales are going down, then it has an effect to every car dealer not just the big 3. That's called the inmediate effect. The second effect goes to the industries that are supplies for the auto industry, the car parts industry suffers too, causing more job losses. That's called the Direct Effect. An the third effect is that with so many job losses, no access to credit, the others industries are affected, from cars we could jump to some "superfluous" entertainment, some fancy appliances, some top of the notch electronic devices and so on and so forth, people start looking for cheaper stuff. That's called the induced effect.

the Mazda 626 model, for example.

Uh-Uh Isn't Mazda a Japanese Brand? I know that Ford owns shares from mazda but that doesn't make mazda american.

Idiotic, this guy is so old fashioned.. and the people that bought the 15 cars are more idiotic too...

“All you people that buy all your Toyotas and send that money to Japan, you know, when you don’t have a job to make your Toyota car payment, don’t come crying to me,”

If they don't have a job to make a Toyota car payment they certainly won't have a job to pay for ANY car payment...

    Please!

I like to read, all my life I've read different books, magazines, newspapers, comics, manga and technical books, if you find a way to get young generations that prefer TV and videogames and don't read anything, interested in reading something, even though it's only manga, we would see better vocabularies. It is thanks to my liking of reading that I was able to learn English (though I know that still I have a long way to go...) and although the very few mangas that I've read are translated into English cannot tell me if they are well written, it is worth a try to connect people. Good to Aso!!!

I never like Sarah Palin... but I think that all these invitations is to make fun of her... she proved before in debates and other speeches that she did have dumb answers.

Few days before nov 4, I watched Letterman, he really took many phrases said by Palin, and she was ridiculized.

For her own sake, she shouldn't appear in these shows. She will lose more credibility (if she had one)

And for those that say that Palin doesn't practice socialism, taking taxes from rich companies and re-distributing wealth is socialism...or at least it is perceived as socialism by many right-wing U.S. people

    three things:

    1. Miyazaki's work is political (just not Japanese politics)
    2. Is kinda tiring that only girls are the main role of his movies, a boy's life cannot be that tragic and that demonstrates lack of imagination, that's dissapointing
    3. I only watched "Mononoke" and "Porco Rosso", so far I liked the Porco Rosso... the other one was too dense

Yup.....Microsoft did sooooo bad under the Republicans.

Of course with products with so low quality that his corporate image tainted the image of U.S. products.

I give credit Obama to being smart in choosing people for his economic team, let's see how they will cope up to the challenge

Why do Japanese start putting Xmas decorations and lights in november? isn't a little early? or it is because the winter already causes the days to be shorter (i.e. less daylight?)

It is difficult for me to understand since we in South America Xmas time is in summer, so we have long hours of daylight...
