I Like L'Arc-en-Ciel, they have built quite a career in 17 years, leaving hyde's cuteness aside, (Because he's not my favorite) I think that these guys can move me with their music and hyde's interpretation and lyrics are very beautiful. Women... I don't like their singing, just a couple: Utada Hikaru and Mizuki Arisa, but mostly I hear a seiyuu that it is also a singer: Hayashibara Megumi... My grasp of japanese pop music comes mostly from anime, so I've heard a lot of seiyuus that are also singers...

But the O campaign has to set it up. FInally, the Dems need to emphasize to those poor white rural voters who don't realize as Webb does that poor black voters, poor Latino voters all have one thing in common with poor white voters: they are ALL poor and have been hit hard by the Bush economy

True, as a Foreigner I can see that, trouble is that some "patriots" don't care about the status of their countrymen but rather the image before the world to be "number 1", that's not bad, what it is bad is to continue a war that even if you might win, the cost of that war was too high, that the war wasn't worth. The economy is in shambles, the Dollar was too low that affected other economies, in my country, it started to depress our exports, so, our equivalent to the Federal reserve had to buy dollars to boost it up. Now, there are two large banks in the U.S. at the border of bankruptcy... so, what does justify to continue a war that you haven't won? is it the reaction of an obstinated mule? (sorry for the comparison, but in mind it came very fast).

My hopes goes to Obama, not only because he is liberal, but I trust to teach the U.S. that greatness comes from within and defending against true terrorism, rather than wining senseless wars (after all, the war on Iraq, is NOT a war on terrorism)

Why is it when people look at a person who makes a sickening, unnatural lifestyle choice?

It is not a question of choice, homosexuals, lesbians and transexuals do not choose their sexual preference and gender perception. They are what they are.

then why not have male hormones and therapy, they could become more manly, problem solved!!

What you are inside often is "sincronized" with what your are outside (physically).

But I said "often", some times the physical body is the opposite to what you are inside, I do believe that Ayana was always a woman trapped in a man's body, why should she have to take testosterone pills denying her true gender?

I think this type of operation should be made illegal, and these men should be put on Government re-education courses, until they realise their correct gender.

Well carash defended the point about discrimination on transexuals. As for the comment of the quote... If you put "these men" into therapy and re-education the only thing that you will achieve is that their "correct gender" is the one in your soul and not the physical one.

Well, and for not being off topic, i don't know this celebrity and why she is a celebrity, I cannot see the relationship between her and the movie, but as many ways to make publicity, to have a transexual doing it certainly called the attention, look at all the posts on this section only.. Pity that as a publicitary "stunt" is working only for Ayana and not for the film...

WhiteHawk: The tactics are not new, still American buy this for better or worse, those that believe those promises to the end, and are against that, actually believe that is socialism, and those that are in favor will work towards getting those cuts (resulting in more people working or risking investments boosting the economy).

Now, care to address the post I made about Obama's campaign trying to intimidate/silence those who bring his connections with terrorist William Ayers to light?

I'm sorry, I haven't had time to read all the parts of the campaign, I didn't know that. But my guess it is the same that happened to those that accused McCain of practically being "on vacation" in the last years of his pow imprisonment, or the rumors of the Bushes being close to the bin laden family. It might be true (for both parties), for me they are rumors, and even if they are true, I prefer it shows that like everyone else they have dirty clothes that don't want to show.

    WhiteHawk:

PS: I notice you have no counter for my exposure of Obama's smoke-and-mirrors tax promise. Are you too "smart" to counter?

I didn't notice that. True. Usually small businesses and start-ups rarely pay taxes on capital gains due to amount of capital involvement. As a "marketing move" it's brilliant, the smart american would notice that is smoke and mirrors (but all campaigns use these kind of marketing, I've seen that before with Bush-Gore), but also the smart ones would notice that the incentive comes that you, as an entrepreneur will boost your business without worrying in paying large taxes as your business grow up.

Also, if you have a start-up or small business, usually as a citizen your income would be "middle class" whose? taxes will be already cut. ("I will cut taxes for 95 percent of all working families" part...)

Ps. I would love to continue the Marx thing, but I cannot give another space for discussion.

Sorry for the English, I'm not used to this speech level of English, bear with me some errors in some words.

For me to be dumb is to vote for a guy that will continue the war depressing even more the local economy. How many grants were cut because the firms were not willing to invest due to war? the education suffered, the middle-income families had less access to a better quality of life, All because of war! I've never understood why attack Iraq when the terrorists were someone place else, because after all these years they haven't found Bin Laden. Dumb to believe that this war was actually a war on terror, when it was actually for a different reason. I think that for America to be a great nation you should start inside, making a strong economy while defending your nation, the war created such speculations on oil prices that the world economy suffered. I don't deny that there is a necessity for stopping nuclear races and terrorism, you have to defend your nation, but terrorism has not stopped, and even though America hasn't suffered another attack, it was at the cost or your privacy and detriment of your quality of life. That's acceptable for a couple of years, but at this point if you want to continue living like this, you are dumb.

As for Obama's promises, they are idealistic, but they are good, if you are smart you should understand how you have to work for reaching those objectives.

I liked the speech... What I'm worried about is for Americans to be too dumb for not voting this guy. On the other hand, If after this McCain gets elected, then America will have proven that they ARE dumb.

And nowhere in this story does it mention that these people were calling the emergency number (119) it simply states too many people are calling the police..

News flash... the title says inappropiate EMERGENCY calls.

I understand that there are things that you have to call the police for, like reporting suspicious behavior, animals where they shouldn't be and others, but for emergency there is a dedicated line and they spend time listening to calls that are not an emergency not giving chance to those real emergencies...

Tsk Tsk, a public servant complaining about the job they were hired for. Unless it is a nationwide concern with no proactive measures taken, then gomenasai. If the Japanese government creates another city office for nuisance control, I believe they stand a chance on reducing the number of un-important calls. For example a Japan wide publicity campaign to inform the public who to call in case a snake sighting has occurred, or who to call in case an ancient spirit comes unexpectedly to their home, etc.

It is not the thing that you call for killing snakes, trying to stop a robbery or loud fights in the neighborhood, or even asking directions or rides home when it is really too late. The point is that it shouldn't use the EMERGENCY LINE to do that... In my country, the resources are limited, but there was an article were a significant percentage of emergency calls to the police were pranks or calls for other kind of public service (like solving a possible conflict that may or may not happen). These calls "saturate" the line not giving space to attend the real emergency calls, I believe that this article was aiming at the same spirit.

There is this saying: "You can catch more flies with honey than with vinegar" it seems to apply to Japan too... You just have to clever in using words and non-verbal communication. I call this to myself privately "being diplomatic" so you can disagree every time you want and manage to turn around things... I'm not going to tell you my technique though...

    Funny, this post.

Well, I know that it is like trying to cover the sun with a finger to say to all husbands/wives "don't cheat" or "don't have an affair/fling/furin" (I found terribly boring that discussion too). But I understand that is part of human nature to cheat once in a while. If you are married, and cannot be faithful, having a fling or two would not be harmful to the marriage if you are discreet, you are careful in not getting diseases and the episode is short-lived. Problem is when you have a more "permanent" lover or mistress, if you have to do that, then the best thing is to get a divorce, but even if that the case, don't promise your lover that. If you say so, your lover would demand to comply with your promise, which is very rare that you really leave your spouse for the lover (unless you are in love), after that, if you marry your lover, knowing the cheating history would make her/him suspicious of having other affairs...

Since seansezso likes to assume that "us westerners" like to assume. I will speculate instead (yeah we like that, that's why we have too much soap operas in Latin America):

The announcer was a freelance announcer, meaning that the person "Mr. A." was not necessarily her boss, but a potential boss if she would be to get a more stable job. The relationship of the daughter with a JAPANESE person who works at a TV station or something similar (the article doesn't clearly say so) it is very attractive to the mother as opposed to a peace activist (oh, "that's bad, my daughter is a revolutionary") who in addition is a foreigner ("he couldn't care abour her, he only wants to use her name").

It is very difficult to really know if a person wants to commit suicide, the ones that REALLY want to, would do it and success (like this case) they don't tell you "I want to kill myself", they might mention once but not so often, because when they want to kell themselves, they don't tell you, so you cannot stop them. The foreigner, being a foreigner couldn't have the slightest idea that the girl would kill herself, because often he doesn't know the Japanese way of thinking (I don't either). On the other hand, you cannot expect that a foreigner would save your daughter do you?, if for any reason Mr. A. or Mr. Taylor knew that there were suicide ideas on the girl's head, Do you think that they would tell the mother?. I'm starting to think that she was really pissed off for having a daughter that did not trust her and also looking for someone or something to blame.

“Our family appreciated Mr A’s support at her funeral, although some people criticized him. However, we don’t feel like that toward Mr Taylor. He met her on the day she committed suicide

IF they had a relationship, how he can met her the day she committed suicide?

I don't understand, but there is a clear bias towards the Boss and "aversion" to the foreigner. If Mr. Taylor "knew" about the suicide ideas prior to the suicide Is it that easy to tell the mother (or any member of the family) "hey, your daughter is depressed, she may kill herself" Please!

LOL. Yeah. "Oppression." China locks up, tortures and kills Falun Gong practicioners for mixing tai chi with a simple system of ethics and morality but it is George Bush who is "oppressing" people by asking that China allow freedom of religion.

Oh Please! it was the U.S. that supported the oppression in Chile when the Military was in power.

I'm curious about fastening the rear seat belt regulation. If a policeman stops the cab and surprises the passenger in the rear seat unbuckled, the fine goes to the company or the driver?. it would be better to have some of these led-lighted ad at the rear saying "no smoking - fasten your seat belt" just like airplanes. Then if they are caught, the passenger would receive the fine don't you think?

I'm a smoker, but rarely I can stand the smell of cigarretes in small closed spaces like bathrooms or cars, if I ever smoked in a car was with the rear window opened. But, when I travel I have to endure 2-3 hours without smoking because it is rude to other people who don't smoke.

What I absolutely agree is that the driver shouldn't smoke in any case, even if driving a taxi, bus, public transportantion or just a private citizen, In my country it is prohibited, due that when you smoke and drive you get distracted increasing the chances of accidents.
