I would like to take this tragic event in China as an opportunity to "REQUEST SERIOUSLY" to Chinese government, that instead of trying to score politically with the West at the UN Security Council, please have some "EMPATHY" and allow the UN to AID-DROP aid into the dying millions in Burma's flooded delta. This is not the time to score political points. This is time to save lives, millions of innocent lives. Are Burmese lives not as precious as Chinese quake victims?

I am truly sorry for the victims. I'm sure government of China can handle it well , unlike the Myanmar junta who blocks the international aid for 1.5 million victims of cyclone Nargis in Myanmar's delta.

A famous burmese film star Kyaw Thu gave interview to BBC Burmese on Saturday, how he had to run to escape from gov.affiliated thugs, who tried to rough up his group, to stop him from distributing rice to the starving poors in Hlaing Tharyar,(a satellite town distroyed by the cyclone just outside Yangon). This shows even local people can face intimidation for helping the needy if the gov.disagree.

What makes these Myanmar victims deserve to be neglected as such cruelty?
Even 'animals' in some countries would be helped better by the governments there.

Burmese generals have more than one reason why they do not want International Aid Agencies in the country.
1.Local people are (strictly) not allowed to come into contact with any foreigner.Even tourists guides are ordered to follow this rule to make sure their guests do not get friendly with the locals, or they lose their license.
2.In their mind, every foreigner is a potential reporter and/or a spy.
3.For the last 60 years, the military boasts and advocates itself as the national heroes and protector of the country. No other organisation is allowed to be seen as saviours. It alone manages the country for the last 46 years.
4.Without the international aid workers to monitor, generals re-label these aid material with their names on and distributed to the people they see fit but not necessarily the most needy .They do not see it as something shameful any more, as it is part of their daily practices. This is how the generals manipulate the country's power in Burma for half a century. The images of re-labelled aid materials are on international news ,NOW!!. (In the past even cuddly toys donated by Japan for the poor children of Burma were taken away for generals' grandchildren.)

UN is repeatedly warning that the time is running out for the millions of cyclone victims. ONE WEEK of precious time has been wasted as the junta DO NOT UNDERSTAND the scale of relief work and the DEADLY CONSEQUENCES that will follow. The junta at the moment is concentrating on VOTING PROCESS of retifying the draft constitution, which is designed to legalize the military rule. It took the generals 15 years to write this constitution, making sure that The Military is in FIRM CONTROL, legally, in country's politics.

That is totally untrue. Aid supplies, only a trickle get through to the victims. I have pictures from Lapputta and the true situation is people are desperate for help . Fresh water, food ,medicine and shelters are almost gone. The UN can manage to flown in only 4 planes of supplies in 7 days. That is NOT FULL SWING .Empty military trucks driven pass the desperate villagers. The helicopters occational drop in only to pick up the VIP generals. No supplies for the starving victims. STILL AWAITING DESPERATELY.

There is only ONE INSTITUTION which comes between the suffering, dying millions in the delta and the desperately needed life saving International Relief Aid ........and that INSTITUTION is known as ....."Myanmar (Burma) Tatmadaw (Armed Forces)".

some14some; You do not know the truth on the ground. I do, because I am one of the citizens in the country. These generals will NEVER allow any international aid to come into the country and help (in person), which the generals (shalowly) think that their incompetence will be highlighted. They (make belief themselves) that they are the only heroes of the country and no foreigners must be seen by the locals as saviours. In Arche Indonesia, the US war ships did a fantastic job in saving tens of thousands of lives on Tsunami victims. A week is ample time to save the victims. BUT This kind of large scale international rescue efforts will never be seen in Burma, THANKS TO THE BURMESE MILITRY HEROES. The heroes in Burma has gone ahead with their nationwide referendum voting despite of this unprecedented disaster the country has ever encountered in it's living memory.

Nyein Chan (02:59 am-10th May), Can you not come-up with more plausible and intelligent excuse than to blame on "biscuits". The Pakistanese, Indonesians, Sri Lankan , Indian and Thai governments, all received with gratitude, the same kind of "biscuits" for their Tsunami victims, although their countrymen do not eat biscuits as their meal. Have you heard of "Beggers can't be choosers" ? Besides, what makes you think Burmese (illegal) military government's image is good in the first place for the news to damage it? Don't think too highly of your masters.

ALSO,....this new Constitution is very VERY important for Snr.Gen. Than Shwe, because it is specially designed to allow the military leaders walk free without facing any kind of legal charges or punishment for their past, present and future crimes against it's own people.

I HAVE WRITTEN IN MY EARLIER POSTINGS and ......I AM WRITING AGAIN NOW!!!!!!!.GEN.THAN SHWE WILL NOT LET THE INTERNATIONAL HELP INSIDE THE COUNTRY UNTIL HIS (sham) NATIONAL REFERENDUM (using coercion on voters),TOMORROW, IS DONE AND WON AS PLANNED. This referendum on Draft Constitution ,which was draw up by the military ,one-sidedly, without the participation of people's elected representatives, democratic parties and ethnic nationals is designed to legalize the military rule in Myanmar forever.

some14some ; "rest assured generals and their relatives can't comsume tons and tons of relief aid even if they want to" ? WRONG !!!! Generals can keep those tons and tons of relief aid for it's 500,000 strong soldiers, whom they can barely afford to feed; one of the reasons why the military has been seizing thousands of hecters of farming lands from the ordinary farmers.

Myanmar/Burmese Junta is NOT thinking in the normal line of ............"How are we going to distribute these food and medicine quicky to the suffering millions?" "How soon can we get international help to alleviate the agony of the victims?....and so on. INSTEAD, military is thinking along the line of ...."What are the motives behind these help?";...... "Will there be spies, under cover, coming into Burma?"..... "Why should the international relief agencies gain credit above us, the military?" SICK, isn't it?

THE JUNTA OF MYANMAR, is politically motivated and certainly determined to carry-on with it's voting process tomorrow, rather than concentrating on helping the tens of thousands of dying children, women and elderly victims getting out of their sufferings.... "THIS IS THE URGENT, NATIONAL HUMANITARIAN CRISIS of UNPRECEDENTED SCALE and THE TIME IS RUNNING OUT FOR THE MILLIONS". Why is the junta's referendum more important than human lives at this minute??????

some14some; If you want to write anti-USA propaganda material, you can go write somewhere else. WE ARE VERY CONCERN & WORRIED about our fellow citizens here. THE WORLD, including USA has the ways and means to help the victims as proven in Indonesia (Banda Arche) and Pakistan etc. The USA did not stay there ;did they?. WHOSOEVER can alleviate the sufferings of the 1.5 million Burmese in Delta, is WELCOME URGENTLY. Time is crutial here.DONATIONS must be distributed with the expertise of these aid workers who have several years experience. Myanmar military alone does not have the experience and means to handle the task on it's own. We could help the dying victims without your political B.S.

THIS ACTION BY THE JUNTA only proves how LITTLE the Myanmar junta cares about it's own people's welfare. When democracy-loving people pointed out the mentality of this junta for the LAST 20 YEARS, the pro-junta appologists criticized them for being "NEGATIVE" and "CONFRONTATIONAL". Now, the world has seen it very clearly.

THIS IS NOT A POLITICAL B.S.; With this non-human junta blocking everything which will help the mass population, Myanmar will remain the poorest country on this planet as it stands under this junta for the past 46 years.
