This is ridiculous. Somali has become a pirate nation, generating a wealth based on pirating and ransoming. What's to be done? Are we to return to the days of hanging pirates till they rot as a warning to others? Do they still bury treasure or is it nowadays a nice secure Swiss bank account?

I know the law punishes drug possession harshly in Japan, but can someone inform me if it's the same for minors? I believe the father would know it was drugs before he called the cops, and so I'd like to know what he thought was acceptable consequences to pay for her actions.....part of me keeps thinking it was an act of desperation on his part, since the arrest would be embarrassing to himself and his entire family, which just doesn't sound right for a Japanese person to do.

He is 32 years old and leaves school because he was rejected by a girl? If that's all to the story, he sounds like a very emotionally immature individual. Well done by authorities to act on the threat immediately.

I don't want this moron becoming President. It scares me to think that a moron who believes the Earth is around 6000years old could be in charge of the biggest nuclear arsenal on the planet. I can see Charlton Heston now on that beach in "Planet of the Apes", looking up at the almost buried Statue of Liberty, shouting out his contempt for today's politicians, and I think Palin could make that scene a reality.

Molenir, what's pathetic is that despite the laws and regulations, it is so damn easy to get a gun in America. That is because they are not enforced, allowing gun dealers to sell their guns to just anyone without fear of any punishments. And the gun manufavturers lobby to maintain this by slowing up the political wheels to change things. Whitehawk, Seems if America can't be responsible to handle and regulate gun ownership, it should be illegal to all. Here endeth the lesson, and the rhetoric.

Then, Whitehawk, why is it so easy for people in America to ILLEGALLY obtain a gun?...because the government doesn't restrict them with enough laws and the authorities don't enforce the regulations imposed to restrict their sale to such responsible owners only, that's why, and the manufacturers and gun-dealers don't care what happens once the gun is sold and to who it is sold to. The land of the free has become the land of the gun-toting idiot.

I don't think your politics has anything to do with it....it's your state of mental health and ability to be a responsible gun owner that should determine your gun ownership status. In my opinion that would mean most people wouldn't qualify (globally I mean, not picking on Americans here). Guns and their accessories, on a daily basis being modified and improved, have only purpose....to be able to kill human beings more effectively, in greater numbers, and allowing one to efficiently reload to do so again. It then relies on the individuals judgement as to whether the gun should be used in a such a fashion. The fact that criminals and practically anyone in America can so freely gain access to a gun just shows me that America doesn't realise or accept this or they would have better regulations which they actually enforce rather than just pay lip-service to. (Now I am picking on America).

I don't blame SK for taking an aggressive stance. They've had to accept a lot of rubbish from NK for a long time and have been very patient in the name of peace. Now it seems it's had enough. As to the nuclear party talks which aren't happening, NK must be really pissed it can't get it's winter food and oil supplies from the West like it usually does. I suspect their belligerance lately (including the shelling of SK last month) was bluster to get the West to the table again to appease them and get those much needed supplies flowing in once more. If so, then it didn't work. It will be a colder and darker winter than usual in NK this season, I predict. How about burning a few pictures of Kim to stay warm, hey?

SK have to go thru with the exercise or else NK will call it a win and use it to make even more outlandish demands and threats.

Well, he was in jail for a while and Wikileaks continued without him. If the US want to stop the publications then they need a different approach. Removing the top man thru diverting legal actions won't change anything. In fact, it seems he got more support once he was in jail. Wikileaks will continue and the US can't stop it. They should have had a better security system.

I'd like to thank China for their defiance of the Nobel Peace Prize this year. I had never heard of Liu Xiaobo before this hit the press. I have since learnt about him and his views and how he looks to a better China through progressive changes and acknowledgement of human rights. It's a brave thing China did taking on the international recognised body and trying to bully other nations into sanctioning this prestigious award, allowing Liu Xiaobo's story to be highlighted around the world on every front page. Well done.

Kevin Rudd, Australian Foreign Minister, correctly assigns the responsibility for the leaks back onto the US Government...and rightly so. The US is trying to plug the hole in the dam with whatever it can now and is pulling all its dirty tricks out and calling in all its favours with the governments and money companies. The documents were secured by people paid to keep them secret, but they failed and now they are out. They're in the hands of people who are not obligated to ensure their secrecy, so bad luck US. Try locking the safe once in a while.

I wonder, if the extradition to Sweden is denied by the UK, will there be a jay-walking charge they can incarcerate him on?...not using a condom, hey?, Come on, give me a break. Is this the best the US can do? Lean on Sweden to get this stupid charge enforced?

NK bombs the island, kills soldiers and civilians and then has the nerve try and use the deaths of the civilians in a poor attempt at propoganda to make themselves look innocent and unwilling participants of this outcome. Damn, do they actually think we're all stupid? I've heard better excuses for bad behaviour from a 5 year old!! NK is being led to its own destruction by a group of morons who don't realise their ego trip within the confines of their armed fortress is all an illusion and their bubble will burst with sad consequences for its people.....as to its leaders, they can all burn in their own "ring of fire" for all I care.

sfjp330 "I would not take NK very lightly as they have vast amounts of military"? SO what? I recall a regime not that long ago that scared the whole world into fearing about a nuclear holocaust. What were they called again? The USSR!! Yes, that's right. However they collapsed with a fizzle under the weight of their corruption and overexpenditure on weapons rather than spending it on feeding its population. NK is built on the same house of cards. And when it falls, all the weaponry will be scrapped and sold off as amusing trinkets to remember the idiocy of a few selfish, self-serving maniacs who had lost touch with reality and lived in their own little fantasy world before they were torn apart by their hungry citizens.

NK is stupid if they think the war games are going to be cancelled because of their tantrum....a tantrum that cost lives, and because it has, only re-inforces the need for the exercise to continue. Not only because it highlights the need for the US and SK forces to prepare for a NK act of stupidity, but to show that they won't be intimidated and dictated to by a little piss-ant aggressor.

It would be the humane thing to do trying to save his life, whether he was an idiot or not. But to turn the tables around, if, May it never happen for real, you family was hit by a car and the driver sped away, I doubt very much if you'd simply shrug your shoulders and say, "Oh well, they must have been idiot pedestrians today, they deserved it.The driver correctly assessed the idiocy factor here and so he correctly left the scene letting my family die." No, I would think you'd be cursing the driver and demanding justice just like the family here would be doing. I am sorry, taking2u, but I find your cold reasoning to this just heartless and selfish. You may be a nice guy in real life, but if you honestly believe what your writing here, then I hope I never have my life or that of my family in your hands. Because you'd only think of yourself.
