I respect your point pukey. The culture of comedy here is pretty whacked if you arent used to it. And Efftta I agree with you that idiocy is homogeneous to the entire world, but my point is, they cash the check so they should shut up and like it. To think of the monkey hoops i jump through daily, hours at a time for 2000 yen an hour, I dont feel sorry for celebs making their rounds.

Interesting article. I find it a little hard to share the pity that the writer seems to offer these celebrities. Its their job to promote their movies, and Japan is a HUGE market. Respect the fans. Oh! the poor gajillinaires have to spend 400 minutes giving interviews from their 5 star hotel suites..."A necessary evil"? Japan? Give me a break. They sit in the lap of luxury here. Be thankful North Korea isnt a huge international market for movies.

6 years old is first grade, five years old is kindergarton. I think you guys might be displacing your memories. Do you have kids or work with them? I do both. I have a 6 year old and work with 150 4-6 year olds every week. They are very autonomous, curious, resourceful and can still pee on the floor because they werent paying attention to their own bladders. It is absurd to think children at that age can play by a river, cliff, heavy traffic, fire, etc. etc. by themselves.

Sushi, try reading the posts before you comment on them. Nobody said anything about his ability or inability to sing. Your retort is irrelevant.

"be prepared" is the Boy Scout Motto. You dont have to be paranoid or scared to be prepared. The life you could save, might not be your own at all. There are always accidental dangers everywhere, and not the knife wielding variety. Be prepared to catch that liitle kid that broke away from his moms hand and is dashing into the street. Open your eyes and be aware of whats around you. Be aware of whats going on on a crowded train and lend a hand if someone is being harassed. Yell "look out" before the person on the bicycle reading hs/her cellphone crashes into the old man with the 10 bags filled with aluminum cans.

A glorified Karaoke contest. How about an American Idol where they play original songs they wrote and play a musical instument with accompanying music that they also wrote? I would watch it. Full respect to real musicians. A voice is like an --s--l-, everbodys got one.

6 years old is way way too oung to be unsupervised doing almost anything, but swimming in a river???? that is unforgivable.

Well, Keshii, there is always the exception. But parents can never be held unaccountable if their kids are minors.

Well, the issue is bad parenting. Obviously the ones from functional and caring families wouldnt end up in a date cafe prostituting themselves. There seems to be no accountability for parents in Japan. People have kids as if they were a pet or a fashion. I am sure that is true to some degree the world over, but in more self policing cultures, the parents are held accountable, if not by the law, at least by the neighborhood or their peers.

Probably true Euro1, but I could not abide just watching. I would be in another kind of prison for the rest of my life, a Guilt prison. The police need all the help they can get.

lipscombe, all i need to do is look down...heheh. seriously, i meant the act of pushing the gal and running away, not the flashing part. I think that part is lame, but not in the same league as pushing her off the tracks. That is attempted murder.

I wish she had had a taser. How could this guy get away in a crowded station? i would have grabbed his little aishe and ripped the little thing off. I dont care what the consequences. Please let the next dirtbag do this i at my station or on my train. In 5 years, I have never seen or witmessed anything bigger than a parking ticket.
