    The dude, probably never having seen a gun, probably picked it up, aimed it and tried firing it. Obviously it made a big sound and probably scared him into calling the authorities... after he used it. Then to not receive any sort of blame he used the "I barely touched it" excuse.

    So a chick took a picture of a guy and then showed the picture to police and said, "this guy flashed me" or "this guy wazzed in my hair on the train" and then the police somehow found him two months later on a train? Convincing. Date of story: July 12, alleged offence in May. Where's the proof? Where's the investigation? Oh, he admitted... or was he coerced under duress? Maybe arrested and held since May but didn't admit until July 11.

    It's funny. In my company, when they get Nigerian scams and such by email. They actually print out the email, the group leader stamps it with his hanko and passes it around like a memo along with all the other memos. Truth be told, most of them don't speak or read English, but it's funny that it's treated as an actual business item.

    I work outside in the heat in the same clothes I wear outside in the cold in winter. I sweat all day then when I come inside at the end of the day, the AC is on full blast and my wet with sweat clothes become wet with cold sweat until it becomes 5pm. At which time, I go home (if no zangyo) and strip off that garb and jack up the AC only to have my wife complain about it costing too much.

    In Canada or at least where I grew up it was Mickey-D's or McSh!ts. Why does there have to be an official everything here in Japan? So he said Makudo, big deal.

    I get your point but have you seen how much a bicycle costs in Japan? Jesus, it's $200 for a decent chari. Mountain bike? Over $1000. Street bike, the same. Is it just me or do all quality products run about 5 times higher in price here than they do overseas?

    Any word is ok if geinojin say it on TV and laugh. In all honesty, though, I think it may depend on context. Generally, I don't feel I have a problem with it; however, come to think of it, I don't think I've ever used the phrase half-Canadian or half-American when discussing someone who may have been born to ........ outside of Japan, it's not acceptable.

    I'm confused. Title says protests but first paragraph says threats of protest. I'm pretty sure that means protests never actually ocurred.

    what's with all the assumptions regarding the order in which he brings the children into the nursery?

    The story says that he normally only dropped off only one child. By Japanese law, that right there justifies the man's mistake.

    When I read the story, it appears as though the boy is new to the nursery, in which case, considering all the paperwork needed for a child to enter a nursery, the daycare should have thought "where is little Hiro today?".

    The burden is of course not on the nursery, but can you imagine the difference there would be in the outcome had the nursery staff been at all concerned with the boy's whereabouts; lord knows if my son missed a day there'd surely be phone calls.

    Who cares about idling? If you turn off the car the AC warms and so does the interior of the car. There is no conclusive evidence anyway that global warming is caused by people. Turning the car off and back on again shortly is damaging to the car and in turn the environment because you will have to buy another sooner!
