It's certainly a pose shot, so obvious. And about the legs, well it's a picture, I'm sure their a little slimmer than what you see here or they would be considered over weight in Japan.

Not letting each other know how they really feel. When you don't express it how is the other person to know that you really like her or him? Also, talking about exes.

What's the big deal with men in Japan liking to peep under skirts? Is there something about the underwear that turns them on? It seems to be a common occurrence and some of those YouTube videos where girls in Akihabara sing , wear short skirts, and kick while guys are on their knees with camera phones and camcorders taking shots at the underpants. She's aware and those kicks prove it especially when she positions herself just for the shot. It's crazy!

Since Japanese like all things trendy when it comes to the youth I don't see it a real problem with the iphone breaking ground in Asia/Japan. I have considered buying the new iphone but the only thing I do not like about it is that it is wide and heavy. When I was in Japan last and rented a cell phone what I liked about them was that they were so light. Not even my Razor was lighter than the Japanese one I rented. However, it also didn't come with all the perks that the iphone has so I guess it is a trade off. I'm still deciding....

What good does it do NK, just give them back. Japan needs a better strategist. However, we are talking about a crazy man in charge of NK.

If the customer doesn't want it then don't eat it! There is more to this protest than beef, like another poster stated. Beef is just a small part but the dislike of their president is much more. Here in the US if there is something imported like from China that has caused death or injury we don't go out and protest against China we just don't buy it or eat it, plain and simple. And the violent protests are ridiculous.

So long as it is not long lasting, it appears to look nice. But I do agree that it is a waste of energy. Companies are increasing the temp in offices to avoid wasting electricity and the "no tie" to work to help. This is a contradiction to saving energy. I'd rather have employees feel comfortable with decent AC in offices than have this light show. I also think the same of all those Big screen TV's. I think they are cool but having them run practically all day????? I bet it's expensive.
I like Tanabata just the traditional way. It has a special feel. This feels nothing like it.

Imus is a sarcsatic character and if you take him literally all the time you will find all sorts of reasons to call him racist. It's amazing people cannot find other more important things to complain about. Have you ever been around black people and hear how racist they can be? I woud move on and stop playing this card time and time again. As a minority myself, it's getting old and I'm sick of it.

I don't know that I would go as far as to say "there are a lot of pedophiles in Japan, but I will say that men in Japan typically have a thing for school girl uniforms. It doesn't mean that they all like little girls. They may just like women dressed up in school girl uniforms like some like women calling them daddy in other cultures.
This is a sad case because I'm sure the girl had no real idea of what sex implies for a mature adult. Sounds like she was telling her friend like girls like telling each othe about their first time sexual encounter. It looks like the friend took it upon herself to report it having better sense and knowing the gravity of what happened to friend. I give a thumbs up to the friend for good judgement and caring about her friend.

What a long article...They could have shortened this quite a bit and still been able to make their point.
I agree women are looked at or valued, as some might say, for their looks and mostly by men. The minor cosmetic stuff like facials and the occasional blemish remover works and looks normal but all that other stuff well, anyone can spot a botox injectee or chest enlargement a mile away.
When guys they turn gray they are called "distinguished" while women that turn gray are called "old." It's a societal difficiency I think.

Don't do it. That's my motto! Don't need the gossip and trouble, or someone questioning my integrity. They hardly last anyway from what I have seen. That's when the gossip and discomfort of having to see and deal with them on a daily basis begins.

VoXman...I have heard such stereotypical comments like the "visa" thing but that is something stemming fromt he past and particularily not Japanese but other Asian women. Why? because it is a true statement relative to past experiences. I knwo a few myself through my firends, basically, their mothers did just that. From Chinese to Vietnamise to Korean to Taiwanise. Stereotypes have some truth. And the whole Asian women and shopping weill that too. I don't think I've ever met an Asian woman who doesn't go crazy over a sale and the way I saw them in Shibuya, well I rest my case. However, since some westerners probably do not have too much experience with knowing many Asians and the ones they meet are like this then that's why they generalize. I personally do not like to generalize but I do acknowledge that stereotypical type comments have some truth. Call it bad or not, it is what it is. They have some of these qualities but they also have a lot of splendid qualities.

Interesting article. In any nation if the guy really wants his partner to feel as satisfied as he, he will work towards helping her. It's no secret that men get there faster than females but some men have the endurance, stamina, patience, and some really care. Although, there are females who do not care, why?, maybe because they never really experienced it. They kind of just do a performance and fake it. A friend of mine says she she just goes throught he motions and if she doesn't really want to she will say something in the middle of it like "Are you done yet!" It's sad, this article, because I think that many Japanese would benefit from identifying with their partners.

Well, what throws it off is that she reported it and the statements are vague and to any normal preson do not make sense. My comments were all "if's" not based on any revelations. Perhaps without her "reporting it" it woudl be just as you say and no one would speculate.

I agree with most posters on this. There is not much detail here other than he asked her to meet him at midnight, she went, and they had sex in her car.
If a cop, investigation or not, asked me to meet him at midnight hell! if I'm going to go. The answer would have been "No, if you want to meet me it will have to be tomorrow morning at the police station or ask me questions by phone."
It is strange that she reported it given the way it is reported in this article. So, there must be more to it like "forced to have sex." And if he intimidated her and she complied that i would think that woudl fall under "rape."
