People tend to get freaked out and defensive when things aren't spoken how they would like them to. Easily assuming what is not intended. If you look at these people they tend to have prejudices more so than the person they are accusing.

Nope! Not in the least. You have to have a word for us foreigners. Besides, the term racist is a political term and in no way refers to humans. There is only one race, the human race. Best to use the word culturally biased or something to that effect.

That's just too cute. However, it does look like a bull and not a cow. Do you think they know the difference????

Soochi...looks like your right up there with the men hater women I know at work but in this case it's the women hater role. Your words are very vulgar and strongly written to say the least. I agree that the writer over glammorized her experience and many of the other writers probably did to or is that perhaps they had good experiences of which is probabaly not he norm.

I saw an AZN special last year on Tokyo Girls and it was about western women who come to Japan during their break form college to earn money hostessing. The places they worked at were geared towards men wanting the company of women who speak english. They did say that men do get drunk and try to entice them to sleep with them but they said you have to learn how to tell them kindly that you are not a prostitute. The one thing I didn't like was that some of these places require you to give follow up calls to these customers to get them to come back. So there are other things you are required to do non of which sound like my cup of tea job.

sailwind...This is not a matter of respect for Japan. In fact it has nothing to do with "he did it because he was out to disrespect Japan," ( that's ludicous) he just bought and took drugs a crime in almost every country. I doubt he had the nation of Japan on his mind as he was doing this. The people caught were both foreigners and Japanese as the article states. I do think it is bad reporting on the reporter to dish out the name of the company the foreigner belongs to and not the Japanese companies the Japanese males belong to.

Merrill Lynch like any big comapny has strict rules against taking drugs and most likely has a program in place to help people in need of counciling and has a random drug testing policy. At the comapnies I've worked for in industry, both have this policy. He probably was not taking drugs at the time he was hired or else it would surely have come out in the drug testing phase which every new hiree goes through. If he had been positive he would not have been hired. Most people begin after the fact.

I'm sorry, but I don't think that growing up with dolls, playing with them as children, or collecting them is the same thing as buying life size ones to engage in real life scenarios, sex or the like is part of the normal human psyche no matter what culture your from. It's more like voidance of real social interaction which will eventually lead to diassociation and a disconnection with real human beings over time. One example is the problems arising with people obsesed with video games.

More balancing life/work policies in Japanese industry will do everyone a great deal of service. Also, not being forced to or made to feel like they "have to" go out however many times a week to drink all night with colleagues; will help as well. Theres stress in that to when you want to go home relax or spend time with family or just do nothing but instead you are pressured to go drinking. That would drive me crazy since I value my alone time when I want it. There are many countries that have more vacation and time off than I've ever known. The other hardest working culture is the US. I know many foreigners that work at the company I work for that say we do not get enough time off and they are not used to that. All we do is work. When they talk about what they are used to I'm in awe.

I agree it's just like being able to own your own fitness equipment. Most people after a short time stop using them. It seems going to the fitness center gives people more of an incentive and desire to work out.

"We are now getting a lot of healthy people." Now, how do they figure in this business?????? Where's the normalcy in this?

This article is so, how can I put it, a little disturbing to say the least.

Sounds like another act by insane people to further the decline of the Japanese people since their birth rates are not on the rise. How could anyone blame evreyone else out there for the results of their promiscuity. Not to mention the poor wife.

I think it is because of the foreign language. I think most people in for example, the US are not used to seeing movies with subtitles. They tend to miss out on a lot of the visual part because they are trying to read what's at the bottom of the screen. For those who are Anime watchers and like seeing it in Japanese this is not a problem.

Posted in: Why do moviegoers in English-speaking countries tend to avoid foreign movies with subtitles, while in Japan, for example, it's just the opposite?

How very sad...and now the children are without their mother or father. People can be very selfish and cruel.

Okay! When did this conversation change from foreign women dating men in Japan to foreign men dating women in Japan. I wished more of you woudl stay on topic. Where is JT when they're needed.

I have not heard one bit of advice about the subject. I am open minded and nice so what does it take to date a male in Japan?????

As a foreign female who has been to Japan twice recently, I woudl have to agree that it is difficult to get a Japanese guy to approach you. While I was there I had either one of two extremes. Either I was told how pretty I was or they would be very shy and just stared at me. I have made friends and I find the girls are a lot more vocal and forward than Japanese males. They easily tell you what they think or jump to asking you all sorts of questions. I am neither a whiner or someone who lets themselves go in trems of appearance. I am a professional and sometimes feel that perhaps they can tell that and they are intimidated. I am open to dting a Japanses guy if they would only be a little more open with how they really feel. Otherwise I cannot tell fi they want to take it to the next step.

It started with people killing themselves and now they are using it to commit murder. Very scarey.
