@Wurthington~ Sorry meant to add that something does have to be done about the work/life balance…
Perhaps the father wasn't working. Perhaps he can never see the children under Japan's ancient sole…
Will he comment on the origin of the recently found radioactive noodles. http://mdn.mainichi.jp/mdnnews/news/20120213p2a00m0na010000c.html

@Wurthington. I am a working mother with 3 young kids. I have never left them alone...oh…
I've got mixed feelings about this report. First - it's just a report of an estimation…

If Japan is the 9th in highest suicide rate per capita, who is the 1st?
Sad situation. They were in their prime. I wonder what is going on in this culture to resort to such drastic measures to get out of life. I don't htink I have seen any psychologist come out here and give their assesment of this continuing growing trend.

All this talk about which girl is more beautiful...I have to agree that both are mismatched dress wise, however, both have pretty facecs. I have been to Japan and Ishihara looks like your typical pretty Japanese girl. There is definitely a lot of bias here towards Japanese girls. I would guess that all you foreign men have a natural affinity towards things Japanese including the women so I would not say that your judgement is to say the least skewed. In todays "skinny" is the fashion word, Japanese girls fit perfectly because they are thin and not overly voluptuous. When they wear all types of fashion they look nice and not slutty because of their size. Along with their past I think that it is no wonder fashion is big in Japanese culture. I'd say both are pretty and both have flaws that none of us know about. Besides, most do not even look the same in person.

I say lower the cost of housing and susidize or help with schooling. It appears to me that those two are the most expensive in Japan.

Sad situation. When I decided to go to Japan alone last year my tutor thought I was out of my mind, not to mention my firends. She is a Japanese from Osaka area. She walked me through everything I should do while there for safety. Most was common sense but I was actually going with the impression that it was the safest place for a single female to go. I guess it could have happened to me walking the streets late at night.
I asked a guy I met if Japanese males are close to their mothers like him and knowing what they went through, why is it that they do not teach them how to treat women. His answer was "I don't know!"
Japanese is still a young country with respect to democracy. Maybe with time this will change.

A good burger with that charcoal grilled taste has to be the first priority, however it doesn't have to be cooked outside. I've had it both ways and sometimes outside grilling is not always the best. The best burger so far I've tasted at a restaurant has to be Pappas Burger on Westheimer Rd Houston, TX where the juicyness and chargrilled taste is fantastic. They serve the burger in a red basket with the fries and a real big steak knife. Next is Chris Madrids on Blanco Rd in San Antonio, TX where not only are the burgers fresh but the fries are made from scratch which you can have next to your Cheddar Burger "all the way" of course.

This is so sad. Unbelievable how this type suicide has taken flight. I wonder the reasons for people killing themselves; depression, loneliness, a feeling of "no way out"???? They are so young too. In a time where Japan needs it youths.

Spare me the moral rhetoric here. There are many religious married people who are out having fun sex with other parteners not their spouse. This is not a daily every person occurrence here but there will always be people out there who will make such a choice for whatever reason like this women did. Sad and cruel as it is, this woman decided to abandon her child in a gruesome manner. I don't see what relevance all this have sex only when yu egt married talk as though this stops people from making bad choices.

I just feel so sorry for this child having to endure what must surely have been painful and mentally torturing. It's bad enough that this happens to adults but to children it is even more sad. He will have to live with this for a longer period of time and most certainly be dysfunctional.
For this to be his first sexual experience I wonder later in life; how many of these boys find themselves attracted to boys or don't find women satisfying and don't underrstand why whhen an attrocity like this has happened to them. I hope this doesn't happen to him. Life is already too complicated.

It is a sad story but I believe these posts are very prejudicial. It's always where are the parents? when things like this and even worse negligence happens all over the world. I'm sure this mother is feeling the pain of losing a child and will undoubtedly wonder about "what she could have done differently." Let's give the woman some compassion.
