I find it hard to believe that this storm was so big and nasty that it just surprised the pilots.

ALL modern airliners have weather radar on board and can clearly see where NOT to fly plus they get updates constantly from air traffic control and other pilots flying through the area. This storm did not rip this plane a part because no one saw the storm coming.

Far more likely that 'someone' underestimated the size and strength of the storm and got beat down or it was something else not weather related. I been up in the flight deck enough times through bad weather that even a non-pilot like myself can clearly see what approaching storms look like and the really tall, nasty back breaking ones show up in a way that screams DON'T EVEN THINK OF COMING HERE!!!

Hahahaha... bye, bye arrogant union chest thumping morons. They thought they were so good that the world would buy their [crap] cars no matter what crap they built but when you build the same crap for over 40 years and just re-skin it what do you expect? Gas guzzling crap boxes with more room for your McD double size this, super size that, fat arsed drivers. Funny how just about everyone they show loosing their jobs at GM are big tubs of lard walking around in jeans and t-shirts.

Let's just hope that Toyota doesn't let their head get too big now that they are top dog.

I drive the twisties in the Kansai area like nobody's business. I agree that the fuzz in Japan is always going after the easy prey so if you get yanked then make their life hard. Agreeing with them will still get you the ticket so play with them. Then again pigs are pigs everywhere in the world and is some places you have to pay your way out of a charge they came up with so really Japan isn't any worse than the U.S., the U.K., Canada, Oz, Sheepland.

People not using the blinker, well that's just one of few things to get your ginch in a bunch but they are much better at signalling in Japan than in North America.

All this talk of driving has my car honking at me asking me when we're leaving so we'll continue this later...

I'm all for a product that keep the ladies happy and prevents subcutaneous fat cells from burning off thus reducing the size of their boobies when they're most like to be out on display.

Frankly, I wouldn't miss having to peel one more layer off them to get to the prize.

Caption should read Gov Hirokazu Nakaima "you're kidding me, you want me to wear that plain white shirt?" Aso "why yes it would make you look more like my servant instead of some dude on holidays".

Is it just me or does this look like it could be a nightclub in Roppongi. Oddly, Heartland at the bottom of the Mori Tower before the 'reno' comes to mind.

Generally speaking, an inability or unwillingness to maintain eye-contact is a good indication that somebody is being less than honest."

Well then, based on that Japanese must lie a lot then since they tend to avoid a lot of eye contact when speaking to each other. Or is that a cultural thing we read about to hide the fact that no one ever says no which then proves that "timorborder" is correct. Hmmmm...

Sure those signs will work... who are they kidding? Like if that's ever going to work. I've been followed by the black dudes, the 'me love you long time' girls and the Russian maffia girls all over Roppongi when out with my friends after work and it gets old REALLY FAST. You'll be in the middle of a conversation and one of these rude farks will just barge on in trying to peddle his/her bar/club/rubby, rubby massagey hole in the wall.

Hmmmm, I wonder if getting FAR TOO GREEDY with the D3X selling price had anything to do with it? I'm sure it didn't but then again how could they be suffering with all the gear I've recently purchased? :P

One thing to note for Nikon is to stop making crappy plastic Thailand lenses. When your first time entry level buyers end up with problem lenses then what are they to think? I know I have had to defend those arguements with "you get what you pay for" althought not everyone wants to pay for pro-glass like me which IS made in Japan.

Yeah and I get angry when they squish my fries into the Mc D's bag but I don't go mental and kill someone for it. I mean really... who throws a shoe?!? You could hurt someone with one of those.

I guess Japan Inc. is starting to fall apart in ways the rest of the world has already done. Quite sad...

Most laugh this off as an Otaku thing to do but if you get bitten I'm sorry to say it's worse that gambling or a drug addiction (so I've been told). ;)

Me, I wouldn't have a clue as I only buy what I don't really need to live but live to buy. :P

Shhhh, if one of those passports are Japanese. Tsk, tsk! :(

"However, in a country where the birth rate has been declining for decades—the population fell by 51,000 last year,... from JT"

Well, in a country were in 2008 over 32,000 off'd themselves I'd say they've got bigger problems. :(

Nice initial response from the cabin attendant. "We're here for your safety" is a slogan they use on one certain U.S. airline. Yeah, right.

Interesting story, but what was the airline?"

It was a United Airlines 747-400 which you can clearly tell by the colour scheme of the port winglet.

263 out of 120,000,000 people with a bit of fever. What's that as a fraction?"

WOW, around 7 million have already died or left Japan already? Last I heard Japan has around 127 million people NOT 120 million.

I'm sure that first comes flashing which is the precurser to more serious crimes like busking without a permit and the really evil crimes like wearing white after Labour Day.

Frankly I think it would have been a real eye opener and a quick end to this guy's future shows if the lady had just burst out laughing pointing at it saying kawaii-soooo.

Well 236 today and I'll place money on it going higher tomorrow and the next day and so on. Let's keep raising those numbers so people will start dying of fear.

You know, if I was thinking of making some quick cash over this whole media circus I'd buy stock of 3M and whomever makes that Tamiflu stuff but then again that would be just plain wrong to profit from this man-made fear frenzy campaign. Just plain wrong.

    Richard the First,

Yes, I've had the Flu many times over and some of the worst cases were due to being stressed out and overly tired which really wore down my immune system. When I've been at peak performance I was one of only 3 people in my company of 65 that didn't catch the Flu.

My point is that this pretty much common Flu will do far more damage now that everyone is COMPLETELY FREAKED OUT thanks in whole part to the mass media idiots.
