Regarding the Dalai Lama, I think it's China who needs to grow up and realize that almost all of the other nations in the world are willing to meet with him and that the CCP is losing the propaganda war in a embarassing manner.

Favourites - SQ, NH, JL, CX Great service, clean/modern aircraft, attendants are pleasant to the eyes. (e.g., on ANA, the attendants kneel to speak to you so that they do not talk down to you; the attendants clean the lavs every hour; liquor is no charge even in Y class; attendants close the overheads and would never bark orders to the passengers to do the same, etc.)
Worst - UA, AA, NW/DL, MX, BA To start, US carriers don't know the meaning of customer service, the aircraft tend to be dirtier and usually something with the seat is broken. The attendants are fat, ugly and surley. UA doesn't even have AVOD. AA attendants take infinite breaks and are not seen after the meal service. Etc.

Yawnnn..... probably the car that has a chance to do anything is the Ford Fusion, which is made in Mexico so it's not an "American" car anyway.
Posted in: The Japanese continue to break their promise. They said they would allow American cars to participate in their cash-for-clunkers program but have rigged the rules so that few can.

I think the NY Times article may be a bit flawed here. I believe that the Japanese mother of Chris and Cathy registered both of them at a Japanese consulate in Detroit after they were born in Kalamazoo, MI and obtained their Japanese citizenship then, not recently just so that they could skate for Japan. Actually, it is said that Nikolai Morozov recommended that they skate for Japan instead of the US because they had their Japanese citizenship.
Officially, Cathy "chose" Japan as her nationality as of 2009. (Choosing Japan instead of US when she had to decide which of the two in order to "preserve" her Japanese nationality) However, she is still American also since the grey area should allow her to get back her US passport is she so choose to get one again.
