Lately, I've been using my iPhone mostly for its game apps and music playback only and not as a phone. For phone functions and every day use, I can't let go of my DoCoMo Sharp phone especially because of the one-seg, camera and Suica functions.

I wish Apple would get a clue as to what people use their mobile phones in Japan.

Ah good. Looks like the decision to further extend sanctions and further ban any aid to you should be moving along further to its final stages too.

Isn't this a story line to the sequel of "Nothing But Trouble" starring John Candy, Dan Aykroyd, Chevy Chase and Demi Moore?

    XXXXX,

Most of them do. That's another thing. Japanese cabbies are well dressed. US cabbies look disheveled (during the summertime, torn t-shirt, shorts and sandals), talk endlessly on their cell phones during their fare and usually stink of BO.

In Japan, I tip cabbies once in a while by letting them "keep the change". Of course, there is also the "kokorozuke" that you hand the staff at an onsen ryokan. But it's also amazing to get the level of service such as those at hotels in Japan and they absolutely refuse to take any tip.

However, when I'm in the States, it sickens me to think that the workers believe that they DESERVE a tip automatically, no matter what level of service provided.

At least the cabbies drive safe, clean cabs and the cabbies understand the language of the land...

As opposed to cabs in New York or Chicago where the cabs are old, hand-me-down ex-police car Crown Victorias that have parts falling off, and the cabbies rarely speak any English while yapping away non-stop on their cell phones.

Plus, during a hot summer day, I think I can deal with the faint smell of cigarettes on the driver as opposed to the B.O. of the NY cabbie.

What a moron. Did he equate his project to something like taping his son during graduation with a camcorder???

He should also try to see what happens if he brings a crew to Tienenmen Square and tries to film without permission.

Well, good thing I already bought and ticketed my next 3 trips for ANA... I'd still pay a little extra to fly them over UA or NW.

I always made the mistake of calling the mark "kareha mark" thinking it was the opposite of the "wakaba mark"given to beginners.

Toyota should rid itself of the lone UAW stain it has in its North American operations, and as soon as possible.

The plant was already idle when Toyota revived its operations there with the creation of Nummi, and besides, there's also shared blame of GM deciding to discontinue Pontiac (thus ending the production of the Matrix/Vibe there).

It would be better to build Prius' and other fuel economical autos rather than the Tacomas anyway, and building them in Mississippi would create jobs there plus less chance of UAW contamination.
