So AA finally is attempting to catch up to the Asian competition in "upgrading" its fleet of 777's... seeing that the Asian competitors have about a 5 year head start on the F and C Class seating and the service (flight attendants) are still woefully lacking compared to SQ, NH, JL and others, it's probably too little, too late?

I wonder if the author also checked to find out the going tax rates for Chicago? The local tax rates within the city limits of Chicago are very high. Rental car tax rates, hotel tax rates are close to 12-15%. Also, the sales tax is now above 10%!
Not to mention, petrol, while cheaper than Europe or Japan, is the most expensive in Chicago at times (fighting tip to tip with California, which also has very high tax rates)

Just don't export out from that Chinese factory (i.e., local manufacturing for local sales only). I wonder how many companies still ban/restrict Chinese manufactured toys?

Whoever wants to buy Chrysler and/or GM, they still have to deal with a contaminated product, in that the parasitic UAW still comes with the deal.

Bottom Line... every country probably has issues about products produced within its own borders too, but using Chinese materials or importing Chinese goods warrants EXTREME caution...
The "good image" China that the CCP was hoping for, especially with the olympics and all, ... pffffftttt.....

Perhaps the world may one day want to see China becoming a responsible part of the global powers, but to date, they have failed miserably.

Not that it affects any premier mileage members anyway... Their poor service and surly fat old flight attendants are reason enough for me to avoid flying UA in the first place, especially on trans-pacific routes.

Is this an off-shoot of the "How should airlines deal with people of size" article of August 8?
I know there's a lot of fat people these days, but I wonder if this is such a hot topic, especially in Japan.

Well, if there is an arrest warrant out for individuals and if they ever try to board a Japanese flagged vessel out in the open seas, wouldn't that give grounds for the captain of the Japanese vessels to detain them and turn them over to the Japanese authorities?
If so, at least its deterrent enough to keep the criminals from boarding ANY Japanese vessel/aircraft (including ANA and JAL flights).
