Russia has done no invading, raping and pillaging of late, last I looked. The Georgia and Ossetia fiascos of last year lie at the feet of the Georgian "president." What Russia does inside its own borders, well...the US of A should mind its own business. Same goes for Iran. When Flint MI is back at work, then we'll talk, OK?
Check your facts: Russia opens an oil well a day. Check your realpolitik: If "israel" or Amerika attacks Iran, ain't nobody getting oil that isn't domestic. As the world greatest debtor nation it would behoove Obama not to go annoying anyone at this upcoming meeting.

Stats were NHK's and the inference on a hygiene crisis was mine, based on the info I saw being posted by the UK Min. of Health. My, my, my we've really touched a nerve, haven't we. I didn't come out and say Brits were hygiene challenged, just connected the best dots I've been able to assemble. I defer to the expertise of the obviously insulted British posters here, then: tell us all why there have been 147 cases of Typhoid in a first world country in 2002, and why exactly swine flu is expected to hit 100k-cases per day in 2009? Sounds like third world conditions to me? Anyone else?

Actually, I enjoyed my time in the UK, and still visit to see friends. My comments stem from the UK Govt.'s own anti-swine-flu campaigns, asking people to sneeze and cough into tissues that are then disposed of properly, and which urges people to wash hands regularly with ordinary (non-antibacterial soap) etc. etc. etc. By their own admission they're fighting a public and personal hygiene crisis of a sorts. Typhoid outbreaks, lamentably, are a common occurrence, locally addressed and rarely announced, in Britain, sorry to say.

Much of this spread of this infection in the UK has got to be related to poor personal and public hygiene. I worked in London from August 1990 until July 1991 and in my neighbourhood near Wembley four out of the six secondary schools in the immediate area closed because they had a breakout of Typhoid. Anyone will tell you that this can be avoided by washing one's hands after using the toilet. Surprisingly almost none of my male colleagues did that, and I was even more horrified to hear that almost none of my female colleague did either, and they, many of them, had responsibility for food preparation. (I brought my own lunch!). One of Kenta-kun's "Kantan-jya" segments on NHK? which ran last winter on a Friday evening did a segment on French restaurants having toilet doors which lock until the user washed her/his hands. 56% of French men and 66% of French women said they never washed their hands after a visit. 100,000 cases a day? May be even more if they haven't learned to wash their cotton-pickin' hands after using the toilet! How did they ever run an Empire?

Dear God in heaven! A N Y T H I N G that John Bolton supports must be bad for the rest of the world. This is not a good-news appointment. This means that the IAEA is clearly in Washington DC's clutches. Next thing you'll have Yellowcake documents coming from Tehran! I smell a war people!

Obama, if he really wants to do business in a new and wonderful way, can offer to dismantle Bush's missile shield slapped up against the Russian border, and start a mutually verifiable nuclear disarmament process. (The only problem with that would be that "israel" (spit!) would be the world's nuclear superpower!) Remember, Russia has what the whole world wants: years supply of energy. Don't step on the Russian bear's tail unless you have a plan to deal with his teeth. It is Amerika that's doing business the old way, not Red Vlad & Dmitry.

The reason I don't use Japanese knives is that they don't have finger-guards at the back end of the blades. Give me ergonomically designed, non-rusting German knives any day.

In my school cell-phones must be switched off and be invisible while the student is on the premises and classes are in session. S/he is permitted to check messages and make short calls during a lunch break, if necessary and with permission in a specific "call area." The student forfeits the phone if it rings or chirps in class, and it is not returned. Ever. The parents agree to these terms in advance, so there's no quibbling. We had a fire and a student called the FD using her own phone, so obviously, that was permitted judicious use. They're not banned. Only their use is controlled. Nobody says they're bad, we just need a bit of common sense in how they're used. Common sense, unfortunately, is not that common.

The weeks leading up to lunar and solar eclipses are said to throw the earth's magnetic field off kilter, and with it bringing calamity. With plane crashes, train crashes, deaths of famous people, imprisonment of famous people etc. etc. there seems to be something in the elders' stories. Well July 7th has a lunar eclipse and July 21st has a total solar eclipse. Helmets on, batten down the hatches. If one eclipse does what we saw in the last week, just imagine what two will do!

In Ohito (now Izu-no-Kuni-Shi) there are two "must go to" spots. One is the garden of the Ohito Hotel where you can, on a clear day, see Fuji-san in all its glory. Down the hill is the old Ohito Onsen (Y300) and well worth a soak to wash the stress of Tokyo away. There's a new set of dome hotel rooms on the bend in the river, again a good spot to stay. And Hyaku-Arai sento right beside it. A bit steep at Y1,500, but if you want to while away a day, it's also a good spot to unwind. Might see you there!

The obviously-eternally uninformed moderators have just removed my post as being "Offensive/Vulgar." And with NO evidence for that designation. So let me post it again. Seems I am becoming persona non-grata. Don’t worry, I’ve assembled a web page with their stupid comments, soon to be unveiled.
High society in Japan has a long history of child sexual abuse. (Check your history books.) Middle and lower classes in Japan have also dabbled. Many ancestors of the current Diet membership are renowned to have had adult-child sexual encounters, and enjoyed images thereof. Same is said to be true of the current Diet population. Go on, do your research.
The same applies to the Papacy. Enjoyment of paedophilia and its images are long known to be favourites in the Vatican. This is widely documented. Check it out for yourself. Start with the Borghese family.
For the moderators on this site to dismiss my submission, out of hand, as “Offensive/Vulgar” is to publicly declare their ignorance of both history and society. Just to whom do you owe what to keep this job? Shame on you. Heed Kruschev’s words: “Better they think you a fool than to open your mouth and prove them right.”

Well, it's a bit late for the protesters to try and put an Iranian face on this violence. Press TV is reporting "Evidence has been found .... that reveals the role of foreign elements in planning post-election unrest." Looks like our old friends the Mossad, CIA and MI5 are meddling again to reinstate a new Shah-en-Shah, with Obama's, Brown's and Netanyahoo's approval and complicity. No doubt they'll reinstitute the Savac to keep things in order, just like before. All happening on live TV!

Oh, forgot! Sorry.... Mir-Hossein Mousavi was waging a terrorist war on the United States that included bloody attacks on the U.S. embassy and Marine Corps barracks in Beirut. Did you get that? The guy the US and the West wants to have won the election is the very same guy who blew up 269 plus US Marines in Beirut way back? Excuse me Semper Fi people, did you get that? The US is backing the guy who killed Marines? WTF? Anybody besides me smell a rat here?
