Dear President Peace Prize, apart from a series of oil pipelines, how do you define "success" in this war? When you win, what will it look like? And would you please explain that to the countless families of killed and wounded on both sides? I'll bet you a JPY37 US$1 that they'd rather have their loved ones back anyday before you use them as drone fodder for oil.

C'mon Obama! If these folks are benevolent, and the great US ally you're always spoutin' about, and the ONLY (not true) democracy in the region, and they've ABSOLUTELY nothing to hide, what's the problem with the USA supporting this move? C'mon, tell us.......

What's interesting about this is the whole social setting. She's likely not Japanese. Her customers are likely Japanese salarymen, who are either in sexless marriages or they're too geeky to get a date. The Ishihara's of the country are probably salivating at the sight, and think it's OK for some foreigner to dance like this, but would be marching in the streets if it was a Japanese dancer being ogled by foreign customers. They'd decry the low birth rate, but will do nothing to stop the rampant spouse-and-child abuse in Japanese society.
More to the picture than meets the eye-candy!

Isn't that interesting. The senior Graham is on Oval Office tapes more than once, as far back as Nixon, saying the same thing about the Zionists, and undue and excessive Jewish influence in US policy making. Hhmmmm! I'm with Pop anyday.

You know, I personally think that those Muslims who take Mohammed (PBUH) so cotton'-pickin' seriously forget one important thing: he was a man, just like all other men. He had his up days, and a lot of down days, just like everyone else. He also had a sense of humour. Why can't his followers have one too?
If All'ah (BBHHN) invented laughter and humour, why don't his followers participate in a reasonable manner too?

Firstly, this misleading piece of crap:
Peres should hire a new Farsi translator. To quote the exact words in farsi: "Imam ghoft een rezhim-e ishghalgar-e qods bayad az safheh-ye ruzgar mahv shavad." The full quote translated directly to English: "The Imam said this regime occupying Jerusalem must vanish from the page of time".
And from The Times, London April 18:
So, no, Iran is a threat to nobody. Only israel is a threat to the whole world. As Lenin said, "A lie told often enough becomes the truth." The rest of the world can see through israel's lies and won't be taken in by such crapola.

Interesting report circulating about this whole volcano thing: "The truth is, from Reykjavík, we not only can’t see the volcano, which is located about 85 miles east of us, but we have also been spared the ash, which is traveling southeast to northern Europe. Strangely, this eruption has had more impact on people throughout the world than on people in Iceland. Ash is falling as far as Milan and Icelanders only a few miles away are completely unaffected. in Reykjavík, while people are glued to the news and there is a general awe over eruption’s worldwide impact, most people don’t seem overly worried about the impact the eruption could have here. Not yet, that is.
But, as a friend of mine pointed out, that’s likely to change as soon as the ash starts blowing our way. There is an ever-popular saying here, “If you don’t like the weather, just wait five minutes.” If wind patterns change, the ash could very well start raining on us here in the greater Reykjavík area, which is home to about two-thirds of Iceland’s population. Some are wondering whether the nearby and much larger volcano, Katla, will follow suit. Historically it has often followed Eyjafjallajokull eruptions within days or months. Jokes making light of the situation are flying every which way, especially given Iceland’s Ice-Save debt dispute with the Brits and the Dutch — though I think I’ve heard the cash-ash mix-up joke ("You've heard about Gordon Brown? When he heard about Iceland he wanted cash, but there's no 'c' in the Icelandic language, so we gave him ash.") a few too many times. People have also been sending around a great photo of the eruption, which looks like a vicious man-eating monster emerging from the glacier."

First of all, this case is a crime against freedom of expression and freedom of thought. The ONLY historical event that it is illegal to ask to have scientifically studied, using modern science and processes not available in 1945, without fear of prosecution. I thought we did away with the burning of books and ideas. What's next, burning people?
What is sacred both to modern Catholicism and the "traditional Catholic" SSPX order to which he belongs, is the gas chamber idol of Auschwitz, about which Pope Pius XII, in the whole of his long reign as pontiff, expressed not one single word, most likely because he knew, through Vatican intelligence, that the Germans did not operate any such monstrosity. The Auschwitz death books contain the death certificates of some 69,000 individuals, of whom about 30,000 were listed as Jews. The first plaque that was on display at the Auschwitz camp from 1948 until 1989 said "4 million" victims. The second and current plaque currently on display at Auschwitz has a dramatically reduced number of victims, now only 1.5 million.
A casual reduction in the number of deaths by some 2.5 million. Deaths at Auschwitz drop by a whopping 2.5 million, but 6,000,000 are still widely believed to have died there without a shred of scientific evidence. It has grown into lore without any scientific foundation. None.
Don't get me wrong. Even ONE person dead in ANY of these camps is one too many. It's still a crime against the dignity of humanity. But, surely, in the age of DNA and forensic analysis we can have an accurate, scientific accounting and a naming, once and for all, of every single individual who died in these awful places. The Germans are an exacting people and kept meticulous records, still safe in the former Soviet archives. The victims' memory deserves it, as does the truth itself. Enough of the anti-intellectual screaming of "anti-Semitic (a misnomer) holocaust denier (another misnomer)!" The Semites are the Palestinians, and nobody is denying anything. They just want factually credible answers. Time for cool heads to prevail and to lay this awful mess to a dignified rest, once and for all. One has to ask who benefits by the lack of clarity on this, and the over-emotional hype. Cui bono?

Her knowledge of economics only goes as far as how much she can spend on the GOP dime, and her scientific illiteracy is encapsulated by the Creationist Museum in Hicksville, Kentucky, where they teach Biblical literalism, dinosaurs and humans frolicking togethere, and Adam and Eve having actually lived and eaten an apple in a garden called Eden. I'm sure that the average hard working Joe & Josephine American doesn't mind paying his/her fair share of taxes, as long as every other person and corporation does likewise. But, when schools are closing, hospitals turn people away, companies can't afford to hire, roads, bridges and other infrastructure crumbles beneath Americans' feet, then one has to ask, "Why bother?" Especially when you know that US$1,000,000 a minute is spent on unwinnable wars for imaginary cheap oil for its imaginary friend israel, (which always gets it's US$1,500,000, at least, per day right on time every time, must be nice), Americans are right to ask the likes of the Wasilla Wonder, "Hey, what have you done for me lately?" After all it was the GOP that set this economic disaster in motion.
As long as things stay the same, the answer will stay the same, "Not much!"

It looks like the Lebanese Government seems pretty happy with Hezb'allah, as they've just authorized them to clear israelis off Lebanese soil:
"Lebanon's foreign minister says Hezbollah has been granted the right to use power against the occupation of Lebanese territories. Ali al-Shami told Press TV on Wednesday that the movement has been given the right by the government to liberate the country's occupied territories. He added that a recent government policy statement recognizes the Lebanese nation's right to liberate the territories remaining under the Israeli occupation. The foreign minister has also denounced Tel Aviv for infringing on his country's sovereignty. Shami said that since 2006, Israel violated Lebanese airspace for more than 6,500 times, despite the UN resolution 1701 which brought a 33-day Israeli waged war to an end in the summer of 2006."
Anyone even remotely familiar with the events in the region will know that a recent meeting between Lebanon, Syria and Iran in Damascus was a war council. Next time the uppity israelis start throwing their weight around, they might be in for a very rude awakening. Considering Saddam was invaded and liberated for violation of UNSC Res. 1444, it would seem that some enforcement of the 210 or so resolutions against israel might be due about now.

Dear Sarah: Let me start off by saying I am not a fan. Quite the contrary. In fact, I think you're terribly misinformed, misguided, intellectually deficient, woefully unprepared, sarcastic and mean-spirited... and with a voice that is a gazillion times more grating than nails on a chalkboard. There is absolutely nothing I like, admire, or respect about you. Nada. Zippo. And I am not alone. Even most Republicans agree with me, judging from how your stint as John McCain's ill-fated running-mate was the kiss of death for the majority of conservative voters. The idea of you running for president in 2012 is laughable. A joke. A Fairbanks fantasy. You are beyond ill-equipped for the job. You stand as much chance of winning the presidency as I do. Which is exactly why I am begging you to run. Please. Run for president. And somehow also brainwash enough of your fellow misguided Tea Partiers that folks like me are dead wrong about you so they'll vote for you in the GOP primary. This is my fantasy.
In a perfect political world, you'd be President Obama's Republican challenger in the 2012 election. I'm almost peeing myself laughing just thinking about it. Because you would make history. And not in a good way. Not in any way that would make Michelle Bachman proud.
No, the truth is, you would become the GOP's debacle heard 'round the world. It would be the sort of landslide they'd be talking about in Poli Sci classes for years to come. You'd become an American political case-study. Because outside of a half-dozen wacko Tea Partiers, no one would vote for you. And then you'd be a universal laughingstock and maybe then you'd finally go away for good.
So Sarah, please run. Do it for America. Give us the kind of hopey-changey stuff we're truly longing for....

Memo to those using this forum to shout "Bomb Iran!": the "big lie" technique won't work any more, Obama - get over it!
Iran's leadership never said that they would remove the Jewish state from the earth; that's a completely idiotic mistranslation from Farsi, and you know it.
Iran is a signatory to the NNPT (unlike Israel), and therefore must submit to its nuclear program being inspected consistently by the IAEA.
So far, there has been zero reporting of any nuclear materials gone missing, or enrichment beyond what is necessary to fuel a power plant.
The Iranian leadership may be many things, but it is not stupid. Iran hasn't initiated a war in two hundred years.
They understand that any military action against Israel will result its being bombed out of existence by the US.
Even if they are planning to develop a bomb (which is still very doubtful), who can blame them, after the magnificent object lesson the US gave Iran and the world by invading a nation which did not have a nuclear deterrent, that nation having been Iraq?
Obama, a lie yesterday is still a lie today and will still be a lie tomorrow if you start another war.

Iran has every right to decry Obama's stance. Context and facts.... Here is a recap of what they are trying to make you forget.
Last Spring, Rose Gottemoeller, an assistant secretary of state and Washington's chief nuclear arms negotiator, asked Israel to sign the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty. Israel refused.
The United Nations passed a resolution calling on Israel to sign the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty and to submit to inspections. Israel refused.
The IAEA asked Israel to sign the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty and to submit to inspections. Israel refused.
Iran's formal notification to the IAEA of the planned construction of the backup fuel-rod facility underscores that Iran is playing by the rules of the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty which Iran has signed.
Iran allows IAEA inspections of all its facilities.
Contrary to face-saving claims, it appears that the US and Israel were both caught off guard by Iran's announcement. The reasoning is simple. Had the US or Israel announced the existence of he new facility before Iran's notified the IAEA, it would have put Iran on the defensive. As it is now, the US and Israel seem to be playing catch up, casting doubt on the veracity of Israel's claims to "know" that Iran is a nuclear threat.
The IAEA and all 16 United States Intelligence Agencies are unanimous in agreement that Iran is not building and does not possess nuclear weapons.
In 1986, Mordachai Vanunu blew the whistle and provided photographs showing Israel's clandestine nuclear weapons factory underneath the reactor at Dimona.
Israel made the same accusations against Iraq that it is making against Iran, leading up to Israel's bombing of the power station at Osirik. Following the invasion of 2003, international experts examined the ruins of the power station at Osirik and found no evidence of a clandestine weapons factory in the rubble.
The United Nations has just released the Goldstone Report, a scathing report which accuses Israel of 37 specific war crimes and crimes against humanity in Gaza earlier this year. Israel has denounced the report as "Anti-Semitic (even though Judge Goldstone is himself Jewish), and the United States will try to block the report from being referred to the War Crimes Tribunal at the Hague, thereby making the US Government an accessory after-the-fact.
In light of the obvious hypocrisy being flaunted by Obama here, threatening Iran while supporting israel's nukes, it is fair to say that derision is probably the best response to the US position.

Last I looked the US Constitution clearly delineated church and state. The US spends a lot of energy protesting Iran's Islamic theocracy, correct? But what about Sarah Palin's ideas for an American Fundamentalist Theocracy? As a patron of the museum of creation somewhere down in the Bible-belt, she believes the Old Testament is literal. She's even been exorcised to ask for Jeeeeezus to help her win the election against the non-believers. If she was Muslim, we'd say she was a fanatic. But she's Christian, so she's OK? See the exorcism here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iwkb9_zB2Pg
If, God help us all, she were to be elected President with a Veep like John Mc. Cain, what kind of America would that be?
