Congrats to Kobe Bryant and co. for pulling it out in the final minutes. It was a close one and very exciting. I saw it on BS1 too and it was absolutely amazing. Good job to Spain for making it more of a game than when they played each other in the prelims. It was just too bad that Calderon wasn't playing. It might have been even closer, and even have lead to a Spanish win.
It doesn't happen to me. I just receive the bill once a year (I made a yearly contract), and pay it at the convenience store. No NHK guy comes knocking at my door.

I agree with you movieguy. China did a good job of organizing these games, and controlling the weather for even a brief moment, but it certainly was far from being perfect. Oppression continued and freedom of speech was nonexistent.
No peaceful protests were approved and thus held. You could even see how empty stadiums were, even though the government claimed to have sold out all tickets. They even had to go to the trouble of instructing Chinese citizens to fill some of the empty seats.
However, I do commend the Chinese for using full advantage of their "home ground" or "home-court" advantage of securing a tremendous amount of medals. Yet, there were several events, especially the judged ones, where a bit of controversy came into play. There was also some controversy to the amount of rough play (e.g. the Chinese men's soccer game against Belgium, in which a ton of players were booked), and incessant booing of other countries; especially Japan and Korea.
I'm fairly certain that London will be able to stage a much more civilized and more well-deserved Olympics in 2012. Good luck to you London!

I agree. I feel London will bring in a more homegrown feeling to the Olympics with less of the fakery and will be more in line with the real spirit of the Olympics. I was getting tired of the fake special effects, lip synching, and oppression of the press as well as the oppression of peaceful protests.

Congratulations Wanjiru! I saw that marathon race in its entirety and thought, what a strong finish! You've done Kenya proud.
I also thought Ndereba did a fantastic job of getting the silver for the women, in a race I also saw on TV in its entirety.
And let's not forget that exciting steeplechase finish by Kipruto and even having Mateelong capture the bronze of the Kenyans. Wow! I loved watching that race. Good job for you all!

Congrats to the American men! It was a great win. I just wish they wouldn't wear so many tattoos. I have never seen so many volleyball men wearing so many tattoos. It got to the point where I thought I was watching an NBA game.

TheCode,
I also saw Hoshino say that. I didn't like him at the beginning of this tournament, since he seemed so confident; even overconfident of them winning a medal, but in the end, he was definitely humbled by this experience and now realizes the quality of players there are across the world. He even mentioned how impressed he was with other teams like Taipei and China. I hope that Japan remembers this experience in eight years, if baseball is reinstated as an Olympic sport.
In any case, good job to all teams. Congratulations South Korea, Cuba, and the U.S. for winning medals! But also good job to all the other teams playing in this tournament as it was the last we will see of baseball for awhile.
