Wow, these comments have a lot of Japanese man bashing from foreign men. I don't hear a lot of it from foreign women here, so why all the hate, guys?

All these labels are pretty funny though. I'd like a rolled cabbage danshi please!

This is often one of the first questions I get asked when I meet someone new in Japan. What surprised you after coming here? There is such a focus on Japan being unique or special, but each country has weird things!

@CanadianJapan, I also wondered about this! When I asked my friend who works for TBS, he said other east asians are not "foreign-looking enough."

On a similar note, I feel bad for many foreigners here who always are assumed to be American (there are other foreign countries?!)

This hits home for me as I just had an upskirt photo taken of me on Monday this week. Before we all go assuming I was wearing a micro miniskirt, I wasn't. It was an above knee slightly flared one. I thought the man behind me was close on the escalator and when I turned, my leg hit his camera that he had between my legs. I tried to give chase, but 10cm heels and shock made that difficult. My point is that not all of this crime is targeted at high school girls in short skirts.

And more importantly, even if a woman wears a short one, I'd like to believe men are more than just animals with no self restraint.
