It's very simple. Israel has stated for years what it needs to ensure peace.. LEAVE US ALONE AND QUIT LOBBING EXPLOSIVES AT US.
And the reply? "There can be no peace while any Jews are in Gaza".
So... in for a penny, in for a pound. Unfortunately for them, the Israeli's are extremely tired of this crap, and I don't believe they are gonna let up any time soon. I vote for a carpet bombing.
They were texted to LEAVE THE AREA, military aciton is gonna start soon. And then it did. If they stayed, KNOWING that the Israeli's tend to do things in a big way, they are either Hamas, supporters of Hamas, or foolish. Either way, they were warned.
There will never be peace in the ME as long as the Arab States continue to desire the destruction of the Jewish state. Having been thru that before, the Jews are not going to allow that to even begin again.
I bet they wish they would have taken the 1948 partitioning agreement now, don't they? If not... they deserve what they get. You can only poke a tiger so long until he wakes up and is pissed off.

It's a darn good thing that the Jgov banned all those dangerous double sided daggers. Could you imagine the number of people that could have been killed if they hadn't?
Like I said before... it is NOT the weapon, but the mentality. Likeitis has part of a solution, at least for cabbies. A wire mesh would save lives, and you only need a little opening to pass money back and forth.
These people are STILL in the "won't happen to me" denial stage. One day they may get out of it, but until then this will continue.

I think it's time for Israel to do what they want and to hell with the UN, or anybody else.
No matter what the Palestinians do, there will always be those that gripe and moan about "occupied" land, and how life is totally unfair to them.
When the CURRENT peace agreement was broke, it was done so by the Palestinians. When the LAST peace agreement was broke, it was by them also.
Those of you living the distant pass need to GET OVER IT. Israel is NOT going away. Your NOT going to get the majority of that land back. Spend 20% of your effort on improving your current lands and you'll find that life will improve immensely for all your people.
Or you can spend 100% of your anger and keep doing like you are. Eventually, your REALLY gonna piss of the Israeli's and find out what a world class military can do.
And the sooner, the better.

30061015 has got it right. We are being extorted to reward mismanagement by both the companies and the UAW.
LET THEM FAIL and file bankruptcy. Then the onus of the restructuring is on THEM. If they fail to do what they need, they lose everything. If they do what they need, they gain everything. It's called motivation.
What is their motivation, under the current situation of Bush giving them our money, to do anything different than they have in the past? The UAW has already told them to pack sand, they aren't changing anything, so what makes you think that giving them FREE MONEY for them to continue operating is gonna change any thing?
They'll be back asking for more money. You'll hear the good ole "Just a little more time/money is needed" speech. And within a couple more years, we'll be back to square one.
It's THE PRODUCT. It costs to much, it's crap, and those that build it are overpaid. Those that manage the process are idiots. Those that support it (UAW) are just as greedy as those that mismanage it. If there was EVER a case for letting them fail, this is it.

Sezwho... Your kidding right? The government is providing the loans... it has every right, just like any financial institution or bank, to set the conditions of the loans it gives. MORE since this is taxpayer money, and they are getting OUR money. EVEN MORE because they are getting it in tough economic times for ALL of us, not just hard times for the mismanaged companies and the over paid workers.

Sailwind hit it on the head. The dude hasn't done anything significant yet (well, not for at least 5 years anyway). Give him a chance. If he's as bad as we think, it will be obvious fairly soon. If he's as good as we hope, that should also be fairly obvious relatively soon.
USAF, don't worry about job security. As I'm sure anyone with a bit of seniority can tell you, your quite secure in your job. Present day liberals are getting ready to turn us back into the world's largest public works department... again. They learned their lesson from the peanut farmer and they now realize that gutting the military won't work.

Why is this ONE guy speaking on the behalf? Why couldn't it be the SEVERAL Iraqi journalists who apologized for the behavior of that one guy? What makes YOU able to determine whether the ONE or the SEVERAL were speaking on behalf of the dead, or for that matter - the millions of living?

Name calling, name calling.... oh by the way the funding of the two wars.... so forth and so on...
Know how you can prove people are gonna toe the party line without even thinking about it. When the topic is a bailout of the big 3 and someone then 1) defends the unions, and 2) compares the cost of the bailout to that of either war, much less both.
"Yea.... the industry is failing, but at least Brittney's new album is good" is JUST as relevant a statement.
For those defending the union.... what is the ONE condition that the GOP asked for that they didn't get? That's right.. a cut in union wages to that equal of the Toyota workers. The UAW said NOT until 2011, and then the bailout fails. So... following the logical conclusion, the bailout failed because an innocent person was killed in Iraq.

Let them fail. This is a recoverable concern. This "bailoutapalloza" has got to stop. Every freaking industry can claim "catastrophe" if they collapse due to piss poor management. LET THEM COLLAPSE. The economy, and those workers effected, will recover.
And remember.... this bailout did not pass because the UAW refused to allow pay cuts prior to 2011. They wanted to continue with the same pay scale for another TWO YEARS. In other words... they want everyone else to feel the pain of their industries mismanagement except them.
LET THEM FAIL. With Obama creating 2.5 million more jobs, there is sufficient employment for the entire industry.

Maybe they can get a bunch of hollywood stars and put on a theatrical show to draw attention to their plight. Jack Black can play Allah, and you can get M. Cho to be some suicide bomber..
In theory, this is how we get things ACTUALLY accomplished in this world. Look how well it worked for Prop 8...
Oh... wait....
Why don't they try to be more VOCAL about it? Why do they wait until something happens TO THEM before they say anything. The only reason they say anything at all is when it becomes negative TO THEM. They are utterly silent when stuff happens and it doesn't include them as victim. Almost as if their silence is tacit approval.

2) I can gladly point out the number of terrorists involved in the Mumbai attack (all dead but one),
3) as well as the number of people who flew the planes into US buildings on 9/11
How convenient for you to leave out any correlative data between #1 and #'s 2 and 3. I don't have to give you numbers of terrorists. All I have to do is provide the number of terrorists in KNOWN terrorist attacks, such as those above. I can include Spain, Chechnya, etc..
Make you a deal. I'll give you the number of terrorists who have perpetrated known terrorist attacks in the past 10 years, and you give me the number of those who were NOT Muslim. Deal?
Terrorist attacks are not being carried out by fanatical Amish, Christian, Buddhist, Hindu's or just about anything else. Other than a desire to kill as many people as possible or being men, WHAT do the VAST MAJORITY, and we are talking the very high 90 percentile here, of all the participants in any terrorist attack over the past 5, 7 or even 10 years have in common?
The only moronic thing around here is the belief that if we just be compassionate enough, they will leave us in peace. They refuse to believe that. And the handful of those that have the same culture and race who are speaking out are just that - a handful. If the terrorists only represent a very small fraction of total Muslims followers, those speaking out are even a smaller fraction.

Sarge, they are NOT militants. They are simply unfairly prosecuted, misunderstood, freedom fighters.
You know... this GWOT started 207 years ago with the Barbary Pirates. Their rhetoric has not changed in more than 200 years. Enough of the coddling and the mistaken belief that we will be able to "talk" them to peace. If peace talks actually worked, the middle east would be the most peaceful place on earth.
These random Muslims that decry terrorist acts need to speak out LOUDER. They need to recruit others to their cause so that their voices grow. And they need to understand that their less than ear-piercing vocal protests is a tacit approval of what those minority few are doing in the name of the faith they share.
Here's an idea. Instead of telling the world that it's not, why not SHOW us and control the very, at least according to YOU, minority of fanatics that want to kill everyone with different beliefs?

This is what they need:
A handy logo. A snappy tune. A "talent" to pose with a gavel. Or to jump around and sing a bad song during a TV CM. Preferably someone of the "stacked" variety that is already a has-been at age 23.
And of course someone needs to be named.... wait for it.... yep... "Best Jurist".

But... they are NOT gonna play nicely together.

Smith, you do realize that your above screed is almost word for word the rant that Murtha gave about the Haditha group, right?
To far gone prefers to believe the US view. You prefer to view the US view as evil and lies, each and every time. There is NO DIFFERENCE between what you accuse him of... and yourself.

Why does everyone on the left scream that as loud as they can? I hate to inform you, but picking his CABINET members IS DOING SOMETHING. The FIRST STEP in a presidency is assembling his cabinet and it must be done prior to day 1.
Has he taken office yet? No. Has he done things that bear an IMMEDIATE effect on the nation? Yes... we don't have to wait until the resurrection for things to actually happen BECAUSE of his pending presidency.
Why is it so hard for the left to realize that?
"Change takes time?" What happened to "Yes, we can"?? Why are you lowering expectations? WE CAN DO IT. CHANGE YOU CAN DEPEND ON. Are you telling now that the reality of the world, and politics, means that "YES WE CAN" is actually "Well, we might"?
