But... I don't mean to sound like the ONLY factor is the UAW. Only half. The extreme mismanagement, going on for YEARS, is the other half.

And the workers did NOT care... as long as they were 'getting theirs', they were alright with cranking out overpriced, subpar, products.

    LET. THEM. FAIL.

    Yea, yea... too late.

Of course, all the loons are out blaming capitalism, etc... The unions have ruined the US with their demands, etc... Protection of the worker is one thing, but this has swing WAAAYYYYYYY to far to the benefit of the workers and the detriment of the organization.

I speak from experience. I couldn't move workers from one desk to another, only 7' away without doing a lighting study, ergonomic comparison, full and complete justification, etc... And then the union said no, she can't be moved unless you provide her with the exact same quality of work/space she has now. Total cost to upgrade this area for a TEMPORARY move of 4 months? $1800.00. And another 500 for the lighting study and extra lights, if necessary. Not only did I not move her, I approved the renovation plans for every work area except hers. When she complained to the union, AFTER the renovation was complete, I showed them the plans I had submitted very clearly showing that she was sitting in the middle of the renovated area. Every one else had space age technology around them, completely ergonomic, brand new, etc... And she was sitting in a vintage 1940's wooden desk left over from WWII. Life IS good.

And this is why unions exist. To protect their workers from abusive pr1cks like me. But, after beating my head against the wall, I simply did EXACTLY what the union wanted me to, even though I KNEW in the end she was gonna complain and it would be my fault.

THIS IS WHAT THE UAW has caused the big 3 to do. Their demands have NOT protected the worker, and they've failed at GREATER COST to the worker than what they intended. Like most liberal organizations, and liberals, they simply do not understand the law of unintended consequences. I, and other managers, will NOT abuse the workers. But you damn well better give us some flexibility in what we DO do... I don't work, or care for you, I have loyalty to the organization. The union is an evil that is not necessary anymore.

And now... I have to watch commercials where fat old men, and three generations of slobs cry me a river about the need for a bailout?

It's called bankruptcy. Let the union worry about the workers. Maybe they can do a better job this time around.

So where's our "best" award for today? I'm sitting here with my morning coffee and a hundred one liners but no "best-ist" to use them on!!

You are hereby dubbed the best posterist.... The trophy's in the mail.

Why not just do away with the swimsuit requirement. Not the compitition... just the suit.

It's like modern film. IT ALL SUCKS.

So they stroke each other's egos to make it seem like they are providing some sort of valuable service and they give it a name. In Japan, they become the "~ist" or something like that. In Hollywood, they give you a bogus award for your "performance" and allow you to comment on world matters so that the rest of us can laugh at your pretentious butt.

Wasn't her 5 minutes of fame up about 6 minutes after John got shot?

Why is she still considered "important" enough to report on?

When the real estate market crashed, too many had far more debt than equity.

That's because they had far more beans than brains.

Bush's reckless deregulation? HA HA HA HA HA

I'm not a bush lover or an obama hater, but how can anyone NOT wearing blinders say such a thing?

IN THIS PARTICULAR SNAFU SITUATION, Bush attempted to TIGHTEN regulations and oversight of the program. Several times throughout his administration. It was the liberal left who fought off attempts at REGULATING this industry.

It was Barney Franks who said there was no problems. It was Maxine Waters who insisted that attempts to REGULATE this PARTICULAR industry was a 'waste of time'. It was Dodd and several others, to include the O-man, who accepted literally hundreds of thousands of dollars from FM/FM lobbyists. What did FM/FM get in return for that money? Status quo? Well, there's your answer.

Bush MAY BE to blame for a whole lot of things, and certainly IS for some, but "reckless deregulation which led to the current catastrophe" is NOT one of them.

The left can rewrite history all it wants, and it certainly will just as it always has. But it would be nice if you guys just had the nuts once in a while to stand up and take responsibility for the problems that you HAVE caused.

I never saw the boy, and only realized he was there after I hit him.

Well... thank god you didn't realize he was there BEFORE you hit him.

I know the law... But I always tried to tell my kids the following:

    • The "Law of gross tonnage" does not favor you vs. vehicle. You will lose everytime.

    • Will your mother and I be any less grieving because it was somebody else's fault?

    • If you are riding your bike, and shoot out into the road while trying to turn onto a sidewalk, like everyone else seemingly does, I will give you the evil eye. And they don't like the evil eye, because it's the precurser to the "this is gonna hurt me more than it will you" speech and all that entails. And no... it hurts them more.

    • If you let go of my hand while we are walking, that big bad truck is gonna run you over TWICE and I'm gonna have to apologize to the driver for getting his tires dirty. Then you get the evil eye.

They made it, so it must have worked.

Yes, there are vapid twats driving around this country, but there are just as many, if not more, vapid idiots on foot. As I drive I always try to pay particular attention when pedestrian's are around. Especially anyone between the ages 1 to 99.

So.... we now know the meaning of "change".

We're changing back into the clinton administration. Look at the list of cabinet appointments so far. And now whiny as SECSTATE?

But... it's gonna be fun to watch Obama try and control Hillary. Wanna set odds on who ends up pulling the strings?

I guess I should be lucky that I can go on-base for work. While it may not be the very best dentistry around, it is 1000 times better than off-base. My Japanese wife agrees.

Are they doing credit checks in the native country? If your from the US, do they (can they?) check with the big 3 reporting bureau's or are they making decisions based soley on the facts of being in japan?

Daulta, your quote doesn't prove anything, especially anything of a state sponsored terrorism angle.

From a PURELY MILITARY POV, they may not have played a huge part (I don't agree, but...) but remember.. war is NEVER a "purely military" matter.

Either way... can we program them to bite and kick the NHK guy when he tries to collect?
