Probably neither here nor there but I'm curious why he arrived in Haneda instead of Narita. Maybe cause he came on a private jet?

Same as every year-great! In all honesty I think they put a lot of thought and effort into their appearance. Certainly more than the women where I'm from (Western Canada).

Sheesh talk about kicking someone when they're down. Look at basically any party in a parliamentary system like Japan's (Canada, U.K., Australia etc..) and you'll find historical election results as bad as what the DPJ just suffered. One bad defeat doesn't mean they need to go away permanently. They still got the second most number of seats and for what it's worth given the hawkish nature of the 1st and 3rd most powerful parties right now I'd say the DPJ is more necessary than ever.

Really? I've only gone out a few times on Halloween in Japan but it seemed like young women here like to use it as an opportunity to wear tight fitting eye catching costumes. Pretty much the same as back home.

Haven't seen it yet but plan to and am kind of afraid to. On the one hand The Republican Party terrifies me (in fairness I'm not American). Obama has his problems to be sure but the modern GOP is so extreme that in comparison Reagan is a liberal, Nixon a radical and Eisenhhower an off the charts leftist.
On the other hand Eastwood is amazing. Seriously. Forget Dirty Harry stuff which was decent action but nothing compared to what he's directed. Unforgiven, Million Dollar Baby, A Perfect World etc.. the list goes on and on. I can't name a greater living director other than maybe Scorsese.

Rise above it folks. Respect has to be on both sides before things get better.
Agreed. These protesters are obviously fools but there are a lot of hateful comments on here showing the same sort of backward thinking as the protesters.
As a native of Vancouver I can assure you that the idiotic mob mentality exists in a lot of places other than China.

I have to hand it to the Japanese, they make good sports fans. They go a little crazy but in a fun, non violent way.

Funny how even on a Japanese site they're paying more attention to Vertigo topping the critics' list than they are to Tokyo Story being voted #1 by the directors (also replacing Citizen Kane)
